My Chemical Romance is a pop/punk band. It is debated however, what genre of music it
truly belongs to. Some people argue it belongs into the "emo" genre, others say "pop". Whatever
genre of music it truly belongs to, My Chemical Romance sure has changed the lives of everyone
who listens to them. From their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your
Love, to their last, May Death Never Stop You, fans all around the world have supported them in
their 12 years of music.
It all started when lead singer, Gerard Way, was doing animation in New York City. Suddenly,
he began to rethink his life and what direction he wanted to go with it. His high school friends
had finished high school and scattered around to decide where to go in life, some still attending
school. Way called his friend Matt, who had been asking himself the same questions, they
decided to get together and play some music. Matt soon became the drummer and together they
started to write songs. (mychemicalromanceweb.yaia.com)
The first song that Way and Pelissier came up with was called "Skylines and Turnstiles" (a
title reflecting the fact that Way had been working in New York City, where he was in the
animation field). Way and Pelissier both felt good about the song, and Way asked guitarist Ray
Toto if he would be interested in working with them. My Chemical Romance's five-man lineup
was complete when Way, Pelissier, and Toto joined forces with bassist Mikey Way (Gerard Way's
brother) and guitarist Frank Iero. With that lineup in place, the band started playing all around
the Northeast Corridor and made plans to begin working on its first album.

This song became the perfect background for PSA's. Maybe, after all, there was more to this band than sexuality and drugs. This album has a bit of each of the necessary elements to become a hit. In fact, it has. much more than that.

Their work encompasses many genres into one. The band’s musical influences are comprised of jazz, rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, and country. Also, the band began to gain popularity during the movement of psychedelia. Psychedelic elements can be heard in almost all of their albums.
The Dave Matthews Band has been a musical power house for years. They have meshed together almost every type of music together to create their extremely unique sounds and attractiveness towards their music. Dave Matthews, lead singer and guitarist from South Africa has put together a band that no one will ever be able to create again. Dave picked four extremely talented and unique sounding men to join his band and together they have created some amazing music. The members of the band include Stefan Lessard on bass, Boyd Tinsley on violin, Leroi Moore on saxophone and one of the best drummers in the world, Carter Beauford. Together these men will one day leave behind a similar reputation as one of the all time greatest "jam" bands of time.
The members included Angus Young, Malcolm Young, Larry Van Kriedt, Dave Evans, and Colin Burgess. The people who wanted the most success out of them were Australia’s legendary roadie Ray Arnold and his partner Alan Kissack. The two men convinced “Chequers” entertainment manager Gene Pierson to let the band play at the popular Sydney nightclub in 1973. Colin Burgess was the first member fired, and several bassists and drummers passed through the band the next year. The Young brothers decided that Evans was not a suitable frontman for the group, because they felt he was more of a glam rocker. It was Gene Pierson who arranged for Bon Scott from “Fraternity” to join them as the lead singer. (Paul Sutcliffe, Pg. 34, P.2)
The members of the group are Jimmy Page, born on April 9, 1944, Robert Plant, born on August 24, 1948, John Paul Jones, born on January 3, 1946, and John Bonham born on May 31, 1948.
Another founding member of the band was Bev Bevan. He was born Beverly Bevan in Birmingham, U.K. on November 25, 1945. He formed his first professional band, called Denny Lain and the Diplomats, in 1963.He retired from music to become a furniture salesman, but then joined Carl Wayne and the Vikings. He then later joined The Move and helped create ELO. (Petersdorff 4)
The Beach Boys formed in 1961. The band members are; Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson who are all brothers, Al Jardine and Mike Love. All but Al Jardine lived in Los Angelas.
The first signs of Marilyn Manson was in 1989 in Southern Florida, when Manson, then a Ohio-born photojournalism major, and Daisy, then a guitarist who had been through five bands, came together and formed a band. Their names were changed to Marilyn Manson and Daisy Berkowitz. The names would come from different tabloid TV shit.
Eddie Vedder at lead singer, bass player Jeff Ament, drummer Matt Cameron, and guitarists Mike McCready and Stone Gossard set off to start an unforgettable sound in punk rock which is known as the grunge era. Pearl Jam would start with their first album “Ten,” this album would then sell ten million copies. A lot of bands came out of
Our entire lives have been shaped by the events happening around us. Along with us many factors in our day to day lives have evolved too, including musical genre. One such genre is rock. Rock is a genre for the youth, by the youth, it has evolved to stay with the times and stand up for what’s right. In this essay I will prove why rock is a good example to show how genre has been defined, maintained, constructed and negotiated through the past 60-70 years since the very first Proto Rock song came out.
Their musical stint as a band lasted just under a decade, but their musical prowess still echoes
The genre of pop rock has taken the music industry by storm, giving record companies enormous amounts of power and endless financial success along with a way to reproduce it. Owing its popularity to the “light” nature and simplistic, yet catchy melodies, pop music is one of the broadest genres. There’s no way of clearly defining parameters as to what distinguishes a pop music song from other genres. This is largely due to the genre's’ reliance on popularity. Pop music has taken many forms over the decades, keeping characteristics through each generation it passes through.
