The movie “Spy” starring Melissa McCarthy is full of action and comedy; I was filled with laughter. It felt good to watch a funny movie after such a hectic work day. My energy level is positive high. In the movie Melissa displayed grittiness to complete her mission as a Spy.
I scored a four on the grit scale survey; which showed a high gritty personality. I used to feel I had the skills; needed to overcome obstacles and continue forward towards my goals. I failed two exams, grammar is horrible in essays, and my job is beyond stressful; with that in mind, I no longer feel gritty. Motivation, perseverance, and ambitions are all out of the window.
My strengths are flourishing. Flourishing is having a psychological well-being in one personal

The values I believed to be my strengths are my weaknesses. Time management assessment score was 64, which is an ineffective use of time management. I cannot agree to anything less; I have poor time management in my personal and professional life. In reference to my personal life, my sister told me I would be late to my own funeral and she would tell everyone to be patience because I was never on time. I hope it was joke; although I am late arriving to different destinations. It seems as if it is meant for me to arrive to places late; for instance, my therapist would have me waiting for at least ten minutes after the schedule appointment time. I would knock on her door and call her phone hoping she would come out from her office. I cannot stand waiting for someone; so I decided too arrived late. I am lost for why people make appointments and do not follow them. On the other hand, I arrive to work just on time; yet I do things at the last minute to meet deadlines. For example, I have to complete attendances and meal counts everyday showing the times the children attended, plus the meals they ate. Our school close 6:00p.m and I always wait until 5:00p.m to complete the task. During the time shift is changing, parents are arriving to pick up their children, and it is extremely noises in the building. Stress begins to endorse my …show more content…
This principle helps us train our brain to look for chances and concepts which allow our success rate to grow. When I first became a managing lead teacher, I was trained to look for all of the negative things teachers were doing in the classrooms, such as, using their cellphones, making errors on their lesson plans, not keeping their rooms tidy, etc. I was stuck in the negative Tetris effect, because I was not able to see the positive things they did. During a staff meeting, a few of the employees, voiced how they felt. They felt they were not appreciation because no one told them how good they were doing in their classrooms while working with an inclusion setting of children with a lack of experience to help children with challenging behaviors. I felt horrible because I was feeling the same way towards my supervisor; yet I was doing it to the employees. When I woke up the next day, I told myself I would addressed the good things people were doing in their classrooms, I will tell them how much I appreciate their work, and how important they are to the children. Although, I did not have a good report with my supervisor I did begin to see the change in my employees. It seems as if I was working with different staff after a week of identifying the good things they did with the

In Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the reader has the experience to understand what it was like to live in an insane asylum during the 1960’s. Kesey shows the reader the world within the asylum of Portland Oregon and all the relationships and social standings that happen within it. The three major characters’ groups, Nurse Ratched, the Black Boys, and McMurphy show how their level of power effects how they are treated in the asylum. Nurse Ratched is the head of the ward and controls everything that goes on in it, as she has the highest authority in the ward and sabotages the patients with her daily rules and rituals. These rituals include her servants, the Black Boys, doing anything she tells them to do with the patients.
Are you fearless, brave, and double tough? You might have what it takes to be “True Grit” but only if you can be compassionate and sensitive at the same time. The Marriam-Webster their definition is mental toughness and courage. In the book True Grit by Charles Portis, Mattie Ross is a four-teen year old girl who sets off to find and kill Tom Chaney for the murder and robbing of her father. She hires a Marshal Rooster Cogburn who agrees to find and kill him for a price of 50 dollars. Before they leave Mattie meets a man named LaBoeuf, a Texas Ranger set out on the mission of capturing Tom Chaney for the murder of the Senator and his dog. Mattie Ross doesn’t want his help, she knows that LaBoeuf will try to take him back to Texas and have him hung, but that’s not what she wants she wants him to be responsible for her father’s death and be killed on the spot or hung in her town. Rooster Cogburn is the definition of “True Grit” opposed to Tom Chaney the coward that kills an unarmed man and robs him. He lacks every trait that “Grit” is supposed to be. Mattie Ross is a coin toss of “True Grit” and not having “Grit” sometimes it seems as if she does have it bun then her four-teen year old side shows that she really is just a young girl.
Success in life is related to the achievement of individual goals, short and long term. Success has historically been related to the measurable cognitive functions such as IQ and talent. However in more modern time’s there has been a shift towards the idea that developmental non-cognitive factors, such as grit and self-control, may have an impact on the level of success that an individual achieves. Non-cognitive factors such as grit and self-control are somewhat related but also distinct from one another, they may have an important connection to levels of success throughout the stages of life from childhood to adulthood.

I will need to overcome some obstacles in order to accomplish my goals. Family obligations will challenge my time management and multitasking skills. Procrastination is one of the biggest obstacles I face. I will need to develop more patience as I feel demands of the family encroaching on my professional goals. Dwight Lyman Moody once uttered the words, "Character is what you are in the dark." One interpretation of this quote's meaning is that your true self is revealed during difficult times. I believe that Lyman Moody's words are entirely true, both in literature and in life. In the novel Insurgent by Veronica Roth, Tris' true values are revealed during hard times when she stands up for what she believes in, protects her fellow citizens, and distances herself from those who could be dangerous to her.
For personal and professional growth, given my personality traits, I need to embrace my strengths and weaknesses. People have grits because they had something or someone inspires them truly which is the reason why the continue to work on or educate themselves. Angela quoted in her speech that“‘Dr. Dweck has shown that when kids read and learn about the brain and how it changes and grows, in response to challenge, they’re much more likely to persevere when they fail because they don’t believe that failure is a permanent condition" which can connect to Mr. Rose’s article because when Mr. Rose was put in Mr. McFarland’s class in his last year of high school which he got challenge by the subject which he actually tried hard and got good grades that year. People also who question everything like a child which is when you find out something new and you're not happy with what people gives you so you ended up researching about it and educating themselves. Scientists are also like this they spent on months even years on experimenting or doing research one particular topic and after testing the data the result is rejected and so they have to go back to square one even if they had
My Grit Scale score was forty-five out of sixty. I do not think my score is bad. However, with receiving a forty- five I feel that there is always room for improvement. I have always had the ability to persevere. Throughout all the obstacles and hardships in my life I have always found a way to come out on top. This is definitely a characteristic that will be helpful throughout my college career. In college, I am sure there are times where I will see obstacles. Whether it be in the difficulty of a course or if it has to do with me juggling school, work, and my social life. But my perseverance reminds me that even when things may seem impossible I can still achieve my goals. A weakness that I have is time management. I find that
There are many obstacles that I may encounter that are both internal and external. You often think that everything boils down to deadlines. If only the tick of the clock is much slower and if deadlines don’t exist, everything would be much easier. Sometimes you blame your failures to somebody or to a circumstance where in fact, the real problem is just the way you perceive stress.
