My Case History: Teddy Daniels

Case History: My case is on “Teddy Daniels” from Shutter Island. In the movie he is in his late 30’s early 40’s and he was once a US marshal for the United States but now he is an investigator. He had a wife before he went to the island to investigate the disappearance of a girl who was once a patient on the island. This island is for people with mental disorders and while he is there he believes that the people are doing things to the patients that are not right such as cutting into their brains and just “pulling on strings” to see what their reaction is. His family that he once had which was his wife and three children, two girls and one boy before he came to the island and became an investigator they burned in an apartment fire started by

He ran and got all the three kids out of the water and tried to save them but he couldn’t they were already dead from being drowned by their mother in the pond. His wife went crazy because she would say things are just crawling in her brain and the reason that he went crazy also is because he blames himself for the death of his children. He also killed his wife for what she did to their children whom he loved more than anything and he put her out of her misery. He also blames himself for the death of his children because he never got his wife help for her problem and he never listened to her. This is also the cause of his delirium. He sees his dead wife and his daughter in his dreams and visions because of the guilt he feels everyday, all the time for the death of his family (American Association, 10

Another thing that you could do to help a person heal who has this disorder is getting them support and or getting them a psychologist someone who could talk them through their episodes and be there for him who knows what they are doing and how to deal with it in the right way (Janikula, 16 Dec). The things that they did in the movie are these things which are giving him medicine to calm him down and they also got him to talk to a psychiatrist who was also known as his partner in the investigation he thought he was in and that’s why he came to the island in the first time, in his mind. Then another thing that they did was they let him go through his little fantasy world of him being this great guy in the army. They let him play out all his fantasies and who he thought he truly was to make him realize who he really was. The way that they did this is they had people act like they were in his fantasy world and they got everyone to play along with him so they could also make it believable to him before they could stage the little intervention. They did this to see if he would realize who he was and realize just how dangerous he is. In the movie he realized who he was and accepted it. He knows who he is and
