After a while, I lost interest in it, and wanted to be a firefighter. I wanted to be firefighter because they’re around fire and I loved fire at the time. When I looked into it more and more , I lost interest in it too just like being a cop. There were more careers than that I lost interest in, but there is one that I never lost interest in. When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I

On February 14, 2018 at the Hollidaysburg Area Jr. High school located in Pennsylvania, a Career Fair took place. What is a career fair? A career fair is when people with different careers/career pathways explain information about their career to students so they can begin planning what they want to do. Some of the speakers that presented were from science, communication, and business pathways and all had interesting explanations however, the most interesting was the Human Services career pathway.
When I get out of high school I want my career to be a farmer. The roots of farming began in the areas of present day turkey in the middle east about 10,000 years ago. There is about 570 million farmers worldwide. More than 90 percent of farms are run by an individual or a family and rely primarily on family labour. Family farms occupy a large share of the world’s agricultural land and produce about 80 percent of the world’s food. I have been working with a farmer for half a year now and I love it. I have seen and learned what I need to know and what I need to have to run a farm. It’s going to be a lot of working and learning to save up money and to learn what I need to know to have and run a farm.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of having a job where I can help people. After doing research throughout my twelve years of school I stubbled across the occupation of a registered nurse and I realized that is the ideal career for me. While researching registered nurses, I determined that anyone can try and become a registered nurse, but it requires a tremendous amount of hard work. This future job will require me to have a great education, extraordinary communication, listening, and personal management skills. As a registered nurse the pay is more than ideal, and it would provide me with the lifestyle I would want to live. This occupation would also give me the chance to work anywhere I want, such as close to home or somewhere in a different state.
From the beginning, the medical field has always fascinated my intellectual curiosity. Because medicine is a career where I wish to pursue, the steps that I have taken to further explore the career is by talking and asking doctors around my local community for advice in the medical field. I have visited my local hospital (Oaklawn Hospital) to see how hospitals work and have been shown around by the nurses and doctors. Many times, I have volunteered at Oaklawn for all sorts of open jobs needed. These jobs included taking out the trash, greeting patients, delivering food, etc. A more recent event that I participated in was my experience at The National Academy of Future Medical Scientists last summer in Boston, MA. This event was where the students
One occupation that could fit me is a librarian. One reason I find this to be a possible fit is that for my multiple intelligence quizzes I scored very high on the verbal/ linguistic intelligence. After reading the description and how to improve my score, I found that many parts of it do apply to me. Within job skills I found that I am able to speak a foreign language, research, listen, proofread, edit, filing, and reporting. Also, within the improving my verbal intelligence question I found that I love to read and try to finish multiple books a week when possible, I enjoy word games and am currently playing one with my friend, and I sometimes read with a dictionary to learn new words. Within my personality, I am conventional which means I like things to be structured and follow a system, much like a library. In the past years, I have volunteered at my school’s library every single lunch in eighth grade where I would shelf, stamp, barcode, and check out books. Although I enjoyed volunteering during my lunches at my library, I have never considered it as a future profession for me.
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction. The result from an assessment identifies and prioritizes which careers will best suit an individual person or student. It does not necessarily mean they have to pick that particular job or career; it gives them more chooses to choose from. Career exploration is a life long journey that is emotionally, physically and mentally stress full. I say lifelong because as time goes on so does an individual’s views, abilities and skills. Career exploration is very helpful to a career, because it improves a person's ability to become informed of their interests, skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, weaknesses and strengths It helps in the guidance of career matters across the nation, job influence, growth, work hours opportunities to name a few. An individual needs to remember that when doing this career exploration project to keep in mind that money is only a temporary fix. In the beginning it may bring you joy and happiness but as time goes on it will not keep up personal enjoyment i...
As I reflect and look at my career journey, I realize that I have not really had a career journey. I have held a few jobs; however, I have not had a job I would consider my career yet. Furthermore, I only worked for a couple of months in each of the jobs I had in the past. Currently, I do not have a job yet, and I realize that I am now 24 years of age and should be starting my way to my career. However, I have not looked into jobs in my career field because I feel as though I am not ready yet to start working in my field.
As a child, I already knew what I wanted to be in life. I would spend hours laid back on the couch watching Animal Planet, with books scattered across the floor filled with information on any and every animal that ever came to existence. Most of the time, my best friends were the pets I owned, ranging from dogs, cats, and even birds throughout my life. As I grew, I knew that I wanted a career that involved taking care of animals. Once I reached the age of 13 I decided on becoming a veterinarian. Now, at the age of 17, I plan on following this dream of mine. However, it will not be easy for me, but being prepared may help.
