Ever since I was young I looked up to all my teachers as great role models and knew that that was what I wanted to have a career in. I made the decision to major in Social Science mainly because history has always interested me. I love learning about the past, especially our countries history and how we got to the place we are today as well as learning about ancient empires from around the world. I also have always had an interest in our government system as well as psychology. In our school, our history teachers have always given us a fun way of learning rather than through lectures. I think that is important to students because it lets them learn better and easier by having different projects. I hope to be the same type of teacher like they are throughout my career. After college, I hope to come back to a small community very similar to St. Ansgar and teach in the high school setting with my Bachelor degree. I’ve loved growing up in such a tight knit community where you always know you will have support from the people around you. This is …show more content…
If we all gave up a little bit of our time, we’d make a huge difference. I few ways that I have gotten involved over the years are by volunteering at my church to teach a Sunday School class for the past four years, volunteering a week out of my summer to be a leader at a Vacation Bible school for the past six summers, helping out through my community’s Senior Center by coordinating a Meals of Wheels program, and by helping at the Kid’s Carnival that is put on my a group in our community called Helping Hands. I also have done various smaller activities such as putting on a town blood drive, community clean up days, and helping out at the elementary school and the nursing home through both student council and National Honor Society. These are the things that I do, and enjoy doing, to give back to my
Whether it be mentoring, helping the homeless, giving blood, holding a charity event or helping support those in need. No matter what the type of work you do is, it matters as long as it helps the community become a better place. The act of kindness that you perform today can save a life tomorrow. Every person isn’t born with ethical thoughts, or thoughts at all but they learn them as they grow. For example, if you see your parents or someone that you admire do good things such as giving back, and help people who need it or just doing right by the religion that they follow, then there is a split chance, that you will follow in those same exact footsteps and fill them just as well as you were taught. Not saying you have to go out of your way to give money to help someone pay for groceries and do things for the less fortunate, but put yourself in their shoes. What would life be like from the other side? Could you still have everything you have now? Everybody can’t be financially stable all the time and you never know when the tables could turn and you can be in their place. It doesn 't take much time to make a difference in your community or any community rather. Give what you can and be that change you want to see in others. We have to learn to work together, rather than despising one another or not getting along with each other for no reason logical. “Two minds are greater than one”. If we stop working against each other and start
Truck driving is a much needed career to help transport goods across the United States and other local areas. Commercial Truck Driving is the career I choose to uphold. Trucking is a way of transportation needed to keep business going. Trucking has been a part of my family for years so I fell in love with trucks now I won’t to drive my own. This career has a good background, career requirements, job positions, and a good reflection.
I am dedicated to helping out our community and school, because it warms my heart and soul. Seneca said in about 40 to 60 A.D. that you should “be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of favors you have received.” In other words you should not boast about the numerous projects you have accomplished and how much physical work you executed, but rather pride yourself on how you helped people in community and school, and how you have affected their lives with positive means. I feel life is joyous and it should be the feeling everyone illustrates, and this is exactly what keeps me functioning in the stressful world today. I find comfort in helping others to make their lives a little more like heaven and this comfort motivates me to perform copious service projects to the best of my capability whenever I find the time. Time is fair to the rich, the poor, and to every race, because time is equal and gives everyone 24 hours daily to accomplish their required tasks. Because time is so valuable and I am occupied by difficult advanced placement and honor classes and juggle school, clubs, sports, and friends, I joined Key Club, a high school division of the adult service club, Kiwanis. Key Club opened new doors to make every extra minute count towards helping others.
In 2012 nearly 205,000 people were employed as a physical therapist in the United States. The average salary of a physical therapist in 2012 was $79,860 per year. The number of jobs is estimated to grow 36% from 2012-2022. This job of physical therapy involves many and very important tasks to fulfill the needs of their patients. It requires many different educational requirements and you must have strong people skills.
People need to contribute time to important causes like community service, and volunteer work. On a few occasions, I volunteered at a food pantry, and it was a very humble, and valuable experience for me, an experience I will never forget. It was heart breaking to see all the people in need that are lacking the most essential things in life, like food. There were people waiting in line for about two hours before we even opened the door, just to obtain a number. I could hear people talking in line, while I was packaging the canned goods, and perishables. When the other volunteers opened the door, and started calling out numbers, then we proceeded to hand them their bag of food, they had this forever grateful look in their eyes. It was like the gratitude in their eyes pierced, and warmed my heart at the same time. It was a bitter sweet moment, and to hear it over, and over, was overwhelming. And on the other hand, there are other people in America, that the stress of their day is trying to choose the latest model IPHONE, or automobi...
However, I always manage to make time for giving back to the community. I think the best way I dedicate my time to the community is all the sports I’ve been involved in. This involvement has made me a caring and strong induvial, which is what the community needs when it comes to citizens. All my sports have many charity games and funraziers which I was involved in. I’ve helped raise money for cancer, suicide prevention, and multiple sclerosis, along with volunteering for the Humane Society.
It's true that we all need to make a difference in times of crisis and need, but we also need to strive to make a difference each day. I know that I can make a difference in the lives of many people by simply lending a helping hand or showing kindness to others. I try to take the time to cheer up my grandmother and older friends in the nursing home by paying them a visit. I know my parents stay very busy and it helps them out when I come home and lend a helping hand without being asked. I can help a friend with their homework, or sometimes help by just being there to listen to them.
One major way I am involved in the community is through religion. I follow a branch of Hinduism that is known as the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha which is a spiritual, volunteered organization dedicated to improving society through individual growth by fostering the Hindu ideals of faith, unity, and selfless service. Every Sunday, My family and I spend the whole day at a temple located in Brunswick, Ohio where we attain information about god, morals, values and even religious topics through "sabha" which is like a Sunday school. Also throughout the day we spend time doing "seva" or volunteering by cleaning, organizing sabhas for younger kids, and doing any other opportunity that has been given to me from others. Even Though this happens every
...my education at Concord University studying Elementary Education. After graduating with my Bachelors of Science in Education, I plan to get a job as a teacher in an elementary school. I believe that there is a need for compassionate and caring teachers in elementary schools. At such a young age, I believe that it is important for elementary students to have positive role models in their lives. I am very interested in pursuing my Masters Degree at some point, but my main goal is to get out into the school system as a teacher.
After graduation, I planned to relocate back to St. Louis, MO. Also, I planned to further my education, by getting my Master’s Degree at the University of Missouri St. Louis. After receiving my degree, I want to find a career in Child Welfare. In conclusion, I want to live happily ever after with a husband, a few kids, and an amazing career.
All college students should partake in career exploration project because it gives structure and direction. The result from an assessment identifies and prioritizes which careers will best suit an individual person or student. It does not necessarily mean they have to pick that particular job or career; it gives them more chooses to choose from. Career exploration is a life long journey that is emotionally, physically and mentally stress full. I say lifelong because as time goes on so does an individual’s views, abilities and skills. Career exploration is very helpful to a career, because it improves a person's ability to become informed of their interests, skills, values, abilities, aptitudes, weaknesses and strengths It helps in the guidance of career matters across the nation, job influence, growth, work hours opportunities to name a few. An individual needs to remember that when doing this career exploration project to keep in mind that money is only a temporary fix. In the beginning it may bring you joy and happiness but as time goes on it will not keep up personal enjoyment i...
As I reflect and look at my career journey, I realize that I have not really had a career journey. I have held a few jobs; however, I have not had a job I would consider my career yet. Furthermore, I only worked for a couple of months in each of the jobs I had in the past. Currently, I do not have a job yet, and I realize that I am now 24 years of age and should be starting my way to my career. However, I have not looked into jobs in my career field because I feel as though I am not ready yet to start working in my field.
There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
Becoming a successful teacher goes far beyond just teaching students social studies. Social studies is defined by the NCSS (2008) as the study of social sciences and people to encourage civic competence. My role as a history teacher is to develop students both intellectually and socially. I want my students to connect and relate to their present lives as the result of social studies. This happens from events created by imperfect beings who made mistakes (most of the time unaware) in which the consequences have resulted in these actions.
My choice to become a teacher is one that I always felt in my heart. As a child I always looked up to my teachers with such admiration. My elementary teachers had a way about them, they would teach us content as teachers are supposed to do but, at the same time they had this loving atmosphere about them. When you walked into their classroom you knew that you were loved no matter what. As a child this meant a lot to me because I was a child of a single mother who was always busy with work or other household duties. So being able to have that loving atmosphere at school with teachers who genuinely cared about me and what I had to say was very important to me and it has had a lasting impression on me.
