People who are different and ready for a change can be scary, society is one of the first people scared. Society pushes away people who are different from the norms. This happened in a time overlooked by many people. This was the time the young lords spent in New york. Kids and teenagers banded together to make as much as a difference as possible. Many tried to make a non-violent movement and were still shot down and told to silence their movement. Many middle aged Puerto Ricans raised in the United States disagreed with the action plan of the Young Lords, they believed the young lords were just causing trouble in each city they arrived in. They refuse to allow the idea of change into their mind as well as the minds of their children. They didn’t want the fight to make things worse for Puerto Rico’s freedom.

Family History I chose to do my interview with my aunt Rosa Emilia Molina. I chose my aunt because she is someone that I always talk to and look up to. I had never really heard of her past or how it was when she grew up. My aunt was born in Choluteca, Honduras, on June 8, 1949. Although my aunt is not from Europe or the United States, there was still plenty going on in Honduras.
On January 15 of 2016 our class were put in to different groups to get to know one of the other. After doing personal interviews with each other we soon found out many things about each other. Mary "Lallie" Goddard was born on December 28, 1922, in New Mexico. She has two daughters and two grandchildren, one boy, one girl. She enjoys exercising regularly and volunteering her time with others.
I, Tiffany Valdez, am trying to substitute the course, The Shaping of the Modern World (Hist. 3005) because I feel it is awfully familiar to the course I took at my previous school, SUNY Cortland. I will provide the syllabus for the class, Western Civilization since 1500. I have taken four history courses in total. Although I find history very fascinating I do not think I need another class about it especially if it is going to be about something I have already learned. I have spoken with an associate professor of the History department and she confirmed that there is some overlap.
Who am I? I would say I am a hardworking, dependable and committed individual I try my hardest in everything, even if I 'm not good at it or don’t know a thing about it. I am always willing to give it a shot and get out there and learn something new. My motivation to move forward with my career would be my family because they have always been there for me and want to see me succeed in life and I want to show them that they can have faith in me to be the best that I can be and be proud of me for trying to succeed in my career.

I am a person who is driven to achieve, and help others. The adversity of living in a small town, the frustration of being different, of looking to rise above and realize my own autonomy has helped me grow. The next step in my growth is Harvard. I am also a person who has a strong connection to beauty and art. I have been able to surmount any and all tribulations, and use music as my outlet. Music for me is the manifestation of one's own expression beyond words. Music is something that has always helped me go beyond the status quo and realize who I am and who I want to be.
I hope that by sharing my personal statement, I have been able to give you an insight into the person I am and what I hope to achieve. I have included what I have felt to be the most significant influences on my career choice. I expect undergraduate school to continue to be a journey which I embark upon with great

I am a Yellowquill First Nations aboriginal, with a strong interest in my people. I am also a very ambitious, intuitive man who strives for success in everything I do.
I was a unique woman during my time; I wasn’t like the others in my populace. My appearance physically was outward. I stood 6’3 and at the time the average height for a man was 5’7 while a woman would stand 5’3. My height I could not hide, and most definitely I couldn’t hide my immortality. On my good days I feel like I’m 25, everything is going well people are nice, the sun is bright I didn’t get angry and break a door. On my bad days I feel 30, nothing is going my way, someone got me angry and I probably did break a door that day, and chances are I cried that day.
