My Best Friend is Dead
My best friend and I were together all the time, doing nothing without the other. But one day I realized that somewhere along the road somebody failed her, and every day I cannot help but wonder if it might have been me. Everything she went through, I was there for her, but I guess some things are too hard for even friendship. Not a day goes by that I don't remember. How could I ever forget? I'm sharing this story for the first time since it happened.
The last time we had no worries, well, that were apparent, was on August 20 of '97. We spent the night in her basement under the stairs. I can still taste our dinner of cold macaroni and cheese on our breath, and feel sticky sweet butterscotch on our fingers. Rebecca St. James's "Side By Side" blared through our ears. "Together forever, that's the way we should be," we sang aloud. We laughed, and talked about everything and anything. I will never forget that night, one of the best nights of my whole life, and the night where it started to end. A climax of sorts--the end of the rising action...

Investigating How Sugars are Metabolised by Yeast Aim The aim of this experiment is to investigate which of the five different forms of sugars namely; glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose and lactose undergo the most metabolisms by yeast. Variables Independent Variable Type of sugar Controlled Variables Temperature of water Amount of yeast Time of reaction Dependant Variable Amount of Carbon dioxide produced during the metabolic reaction Apparatus List Electronic Stopwatch Thermometer 10cm³ syringe Burette Thin rubber tubing Hot Water bath Stirring rod Clamp Stand Diagram Method * Prewarm Yeast and sugars in water bath at fixed temperature of 50°C. * When reached at required temperature, measure out 6cm³ of yeast, with the help of a syringe, as well as 10cm³ of glucose solution, first. * Pour into a boiling tube and fit with the rubber tubing.
The Effect of Substrate Concentration on the Rate of Reaction Between Yeast Catalase and Hydrogen Peroxide
To see how different yeast affect and influence the rate of fermentation, how much alcohol is being produced and how this affects the overall quality of wine produced.
I walked into the room on New Year’s Day and felt a sudden twinge of fear. My eyes already hurt from the tears I had shed and those tears would not stop even then the last viewing before we had to leave. She lay quietly on the bed with her face as void of emotion as a sheet of paper without the writing. Slowly, I approached the cold lifeless form that was once my mother and gave her a goodbye kiss.
The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Respiration in Yeast I have chosen to investigate the affect temperature has on the rate of respiration in yeast. I will use an experiment to determine whether the yeast's rate of respiration will be quicker, slower or if it does not change when the temperature is varied. Scientific Knowledge The first thing to say about enzymes is that they are proteins and they are found in all types of organisms from humans to viruses.
I hid my face as I sat desperately alone in the back of the crowded church and stared through blurry eyes at the stained glass windows. Tears of fear and anguish soaked my red cheeks. Attempting to listen to the hollow words spoken with heartfelt emotion, I glanced at his picture, and my eyes became fixed on his beloved dog. Sudden flashes of sacred memories overcame me. Memories of soccer, his unforgettable smile, and our frequent exchange of playful insults, set my mind spinning. I longed only to hear his delighted voice once more. I sat for what seemed like hours in that lonely yet overcrowded church; my tears still flowed, and I still remembered.
Have you ever lost a friend or somebody important to you? The answer to this common question is most likely yes. Throughout your life you go through a lot of change and experiences and sometimes you will lose the people that are closest to you, whether it be through death, distance or heat break. As I grew up, I always heard the saying “friends come and go” whenever I would lose somebody close to me. As you get older, you change and certain events in your life happen that make relationships fall apart, for example, you grow apart, you start to like different things, you lose touch etc. Although you stop being friends with somebody that doesn’t always mean you wish them the worse. In the poem “My life Closed Twice Before It’s Close” by Emily
Yeast is used everyday for many purposes. Unless you don’t eat bread or drink alcohol, you have plenty of yeast in day to day life. It brings important characteristics to lots of foods, such as the bubbling in alcoholic beverages and the rising of bread. Yeast can also be related to infections. The question is, what happens to yeast when exposed to varying different levels of salt, and how does this affect its cellular respiration process?
Being a Pythagoras follower was not as easy as it sounds. In order to become a Pythagorean I had to observe a five-year silence where my loyalty and secrecy of Pythagoras’ beliefs was to not be spread outside of the Pythagorean brotherhood. Although, being silent for that many years was hard at times it was well worth it and helped me learn self-control.
yet we know relatively few facts of his life. We are not exactly sure of his birth
One day she isn't there. She'll be back, in an hour or two... He sits alone, waiting for her, for a while. Soon he notices that he is not alone in this room; with only his thoughts of her... there are several others, involved in their own lives, those lives which he once could have claimed to be a part of. He approaches one. Someone familiar… yet clearly not a friend. Not any more. He asks a question, starts a conversation, and tries his best to remember this stranger. The stranger blinks, pauses, walks away. He cannot find any better reaction in this crowded room. He decides it doesn't matter anyway.
I can surely say that I won't be able to forget about our love story. You were the most beautiful thing that could ever happen in my life. The most tender feeling I have ever endured. Having you in my life and having the opportunity to meet you brought warmth, love, and passion to my heart and soul. The fact that we decide to go separate ways has filled my heart with coldness, sadness and fear, not knowing if you would ever come back to me and perhaps you would forget me bring tears to my eyes.
Everyone has a childhood best friend, while I have not seen mine in about four years. I have known Jessica Turner since elementary school. Even though we went to different middle schools we still kept in touch by texting or even social media. When I was in high school my sophomore year I was walking to my mom’s work which is by the elementary school I used to go to. For some odd reason I walked in and that is when I saw her, my childhood friend Jessica sitting on a bench. She did not see me so I walked up to her and as soon as I got close to her she looked up and smiled at me and I smiled back. It felt like we talked for hours but it was only fifteen minutes. Later on her mom came and picked her up and we said our goodbyes. We hoped that we would get a chance to see each other soon even though we went to different high schools, but that was the last time I saw my best friend. Even though we still texted one another that was the last time I saw her. My junior year in high school I got a new phone but lost all of my contacts even Jessica’s.
