My cousins wedding I will never forget my cousin’s marriage as it was the first function I was ever going to attend since I grew up. My cousin’s wedding came over in the get along week of November. My family and I were at my uncles house for family get-together we all were having fun and after dinner suddenly my aunt came with dessert and surprised us with a shocking news that my cousins wedding has been decided on November 25th in India. After hearing that news my parents was giving greetings to my cousin, at that time my family and I were so excited to go to my cousins wedding. We only had fifteen days to gather everything up. We had to do some packing and also get stuff for our relatives. My family and I had been mainly invited on the occasion. So we booked air tickets to India. We landed in India on the 21st of November 2016. It was 1:00 am at night my cousin and my …show more content…
The Henna ceremony, it’s a part of our Indian culture that all the close relatives get together and the artist puts henna on the woman’s hand. It is said that henna brings joy, happiness, blessing, and luck even though it has also been seen as a beauty enhancer. This ceremony started in early evening and it took place in one of the big halls in our city. The hall was beautifully decorated and the lighting was awesome as well. The time went on people were coming in and everyone was so beautifully dressed. In the mean while, the ceremony started and all the ladies sat on the stage and stated the henna ceremony. All the people were having fun there was singing and dancing. In the middle of the ceremony people started having dinner. The dinner was typical Indian food and it has a wonderful smell. After three hours, everyone was going one by one and the ceremony was wrapping up. We got home at probably 10:00 pm at night, and we were all so tired that we went to sleep as soon as we arrived back

Her cousins told her about places they would like to take her like swimming in the river and the mango farm, and they also wanted all their friends to meet their cousin from America. In the following couple of days the ceremonies were held for her grandpa. After they were done her parents began to plan the rest of their stay to visit their old friends and catch up and to take my mom to visit family that lived in nearby towns. They also wanted to celebrate her birthday early so she could experience a party and their towns tradition. My mom described it as "everything was so different from home, but so nice"

Monsoon Wedding reveals an experience that is equal amounts of foreign and familiar to both American and Indian audiences. In what seems to be a combination of Hollywood and Bollywood, the movie starts with a chaotic, arranged marriage that ends in moments of dramatic revelation and joyful celebrations. In Monsoon Wedding, director Mira Nair illustrates the tension between a traditional and globalized India but encourages her audience to embrace both customs by comparing the marriages of Alice and Aditi.
One hot summer day in July, my dad's side of the family wanted to go to Adventureland in Altoona, Iowa. It was a yearly tradition for all of us grandkids to go with just our grandma and grandpa. Usually they went into the park, watched us go on a couple rides, rode some with us, then they would leave the park and go shopping instead. That ment all the cousins got to be in the park alone.

My uncle was having a reception in Omaha at a huge hotel on the 4th of July. There were 100s of people from all over the nation coming including me and my family. We were in our room unpacking when I said to myself, “Hey, there’s a lot of people here including my cousins. Maybe I’ll just hang out with them until the reception started.” I texted my cousin Linda to see what room she had and ventured off.
It was a beautiful Saturday morning on January 6. The winter air was crisp and the view was amazing. The soft salty scent from the ocean filled the air. Off the balcony on the second story of the Long Beach Yacht Club I could see the light swells of the Pacific Ocean. The small crashing of waves added to the peaceful instrumental background sounds as the ceremony was about to begin. January 6, my wedding date, was a day that changed the rest of my life.
Our family was never close but we didn’t care. Nobody thought one day things might be different. All of that changed on September 20, 2014 when a hostile argument ended with the death of both my aunt and uncle. For years their marriage was falling apart. My aunt was very materialistic and wanted my cousins to have whatever they asked for but in reality my uncle knew it was impossible financially for them to achieve this. He would try to explain this to her but it usually led to arguments where she would then threaten to leave him so in the end she got her way which led to their vast debt. My uncle had a drinking problem but went to AA classes for her to commiserate their marriage and family. The night before this event he had drank a beer which led into a dispute which ended with my aunt taking the kids to her mom’s and they stayed their while my uncle just stayed home. Less than twelve hours later the mailman walked up to a house with my aunt dead on the front porch and my uncle inside on the living room floor dead. The screams caught the attention of the neighbors and the police was then called. This is a significant experience in my life that I faced and that had an impact on me during my freshman year and still affects me today. It was a homicide/suicide accident and it deeply impacted my family and me. Not only did it affect my school life but my home life as well.
Almost every culture around the world have the idea of bringing together households in marriage. In the United States, this a coupling of two people who will start a life on their own. In India, a marriage is more than two people falling and love and getting married. Family, religion and casts play a role for the future bride and groom. The Indian culture’s weddings have different traditions when it comes to proposals, ring traditions and ceremonies not only for the couple but for the families as well.
I finally had to eat something light before my stomach ate itself, although I don’t know that I was fully hungry, or if I was just nervous, either way I ate a chopped up apple and yogurt with granola being very careful to not ruin my makeup. After eating a light breakfast the moment I had dreamed of as a child came, putting on my wedding dress. I had been waiting for that moment for such a long time, theres something magical about trying on your wedding dress the day of the wedding, it makes everything feel complete and whole. When I looked in the mirror looking back at me was a beautiful young woman that was full of excitement and happiness that made me get emotional, I had to force back tears for I didn’t want to look like a clown with makeup running down my face. By that time my aunts and uncles showed up to celebrate with the bride and make a toast. The pink champagne was so satisfying when it went down my throat, it felt cool and light that I could’ve easily had another glass, but I wanted to pace myself I still had a long day ahead of me. The photographers wanted to do pre ceremony pictures outdoors which was awful due

Marriage: It’s one of the most desired systems on the planet, yet it is still one of the most misunderstood ideas known to mankind. The definition of being in matrimony has evolved with time, and through the years society has been seemingly reluctant to such changes. From the end of anti-miscegenation laws to the legalization of interracial marriage, society has grown to understand the importance the choice of getting married has on the individual. As of now, the right of matrimony is given to all but one group of Americans.
