There are numerous citizens throughout Lincoln County that do special things. Some simply bag your groceries at a local store to others who fight for our country. Sometimes people overlook that little things that are done to make Lincoln County a positive place to be. Even schools try to make learning a better experience for all grades. District board members fight for extracurricular programs because they know that not only do the kids enjoy them but it also gives them the chance to branch out and do something fun while also getting a good education. The Troy community has supported our district enough that Troy Middle School and Troy Buchanan High School get to have a phenomenal music program that allows kids to express themselves with music. Someone who I think deserves to be in the Lincoln county hall of fame is Meghan Pieper. Meghan has not only inspired many young adults but to this day teaches kids something that most children do not get, that is, music. Meghan was in eighth grade when she realized singing was her true passion. Her talent started of small, she did not like to perform in front of a public audience but simply in the school choir. As time went by Pieper never missed a year a choir. She took voice lessons and always signed up for solo and ensemble contests. Music was certainly a passion more than a hobby now. As Meghan continued through school she graduated high school with a great amount of experiences from district choirs and contest that she had participated in to increase her music education. Pieper went to Truman State university for her bachelors of arts in music, then went to the University of Missouri - Columbia for her masters of music in choral conducting. All together Meghan has six yea... ... middle of paper ... ...Being in the Troy music program makes you find who you are as a person. It helps you meet new people and make new friends. Some kids just need something to occupy them so they do not think about the troubles in life. With Meghan making them the kids feel at home they can relax and just have fun. Meghan Pieper deserves to be in the Lincoln county hall of fame because she makes Troy Middle School a better place. Not all people may see it, but there are goods and bad in the Troy District; these are the goods. Mrs. Pieper is an amazing role model for all ages and is someone that a lot of kids should look up to for guidance in the music career and simple growing as a positive student. Without your community there would be no diversity, no one would know deep down who your are. We would put up a facade because we would be scared of being made fun of. We would be scared to show who we really are because we wouldn’t know who also has the same common interests as someone living close by us.Without our community we would be all alone in this complicated world depending on only our selves. In the popular song Lean On Me by the Glee cast the message is to Finn and Quinn. They are letting them know that they'll never be alone and they can always lean on them for help, advice, and if they need anything at all they will be there for them. The glee club is like what our community should be like. We should be there for eachother. In the novel Seedfolks they all need someone to lean on and be a positive influence on. Sam was an amazing example of how we need everyone in our community even though we don't realize it. If we didn't have any african americans or hispanics then our community population would be very far down and we wouldn't be the same without them. Nora, Sae Young’s Neighbor, and Ana all wanted to help out people in their community even if they didn't know
The transcendentalist ideal of nonconformity is a prevalent theme in the 2006 Disney movie series, High School Musical. The depiction of a modern high school emphasizes nonconformity in contemporary society through its illustration of Troy Bolton, a basketball player, challenging the social norm by auditioning for the school musical. Throughout the progression of the film, Troy refuses to comply with the demands of his father and peers, as they frequently call for him to not partake in the play because he is a basketball player. With Troy’s rejection other students begin to assert their unique talents that defy their stereotypes. Another basketball player, Zeke Baylor, asserts his culinary talents and Martha Cox, despite her intellectual abilities, establishes her dancing skills. Emerson and Thoreau would support Troy’s repudiation of societal pressures and his ability to refuse to conform to the precedents set forth by society.
Our generation does not focus on what was done before but what is here now. When looking back in time the history is much relevant then the present. Completing this project made me appreciate Scotlandville even more for what they’ve done to make the Scotlandville family what it is today. I also took a greater appreciation in the Alumni Association and the Scotlandville community for all the funds they have invested and giving us programs that could help us with our secondary education.
I help out my family and community in several ways. I have volunteered to help coach cheerleading at Jefferson Elementary School everyday after school. I work at Mattoon Academy of Gymnastics and coach several classes and their gymnastics team. I also work in my church's nursery on Sundays. Being a role model for all of the kids I coach and take care of means a lot to me because they look up to me and want to follow in my footsteps. Despite my busy schedule, I try to help out in the community and with my family as much as
How well known people are effects how influential you are, and while these 2 characters from history are not as influential as LeBron James and trending pop starts are in their time, they’ve used their influential abilities in positive ways that affects everyone today. Susan B. Anthony and Martin Luther King Jr. are both amazing leaders of the suffrage and civil rights movements. Anthony with Women’s rights, and King with African American’s rights took Civil Rights as a whole a few great leaps forward; brought forth an era where the Civil Rights Movement is something almost everyone believes in, that equal rights should be something everyone has. In these great leaps forward, King and Anthony have used their influential abilities to help start, carry on, and pass on a legacy. This is a legacy that is the idea or thought that everyone is equal. This very legacy is the idea that has impacted many young minds Martin Luther King Jr. and Susan B. Anthony have both positively affected the Brunswick Community by directly helping Women’s and African American’s rights, indirectly by changing their and the general populations thought process when meeting and judging someone they’ve just met, and raising people’s confidence despite being different; no matter how different this person may be.
...ieve life goals. The community should encourage continued community service from college students that receive scholarships and or some type of financial aid to volunteer, with the existing programs. This could increase the amount of people available to these after school and summer programs, while saving the city some money. This could prove to be a major step in continuing to improve the city and make it a desired place to live and prosper.
Growing up, my parents and other influential figures around me modelled the importance of community service through their continual volunteer work and dedication to improving the world around them. Whether it be participation in a well-attended project or persistent contribution to a helpful organization, those aforementioned individuals were formative in guiding me towards a path filled with opportunities for having an impact on my community.

The Carter family is to thank for taking a stand at a time when that was frowned upon and making a change that has greatly impacted our world today. Mae Bertha and Matthew Carter endured a rough life during these years of fighting for their freedom and rights as human beings. Their efforts were well worth it, considering all seven of their children ended up graduating from a university, which was something nobody thought possible for a colored person at that time. The Carter family taught us that not everyone is going to agree with the change you want to make but it is important to take a stand and even if you are standing alone.
