Murder is wrong, but to a certain extent.
In today’s society there are so many different laws and opinions on what is or should be considered acceptable or not, when it comes to murder. For many including myself, I have several different opinions concerning this issue or when it comes to someone committing the act of murder. Murder is when a person kills another for selfish reasons. Just to say the word “Murder” in itself sounds pretty scary and daunting, and for the person who committed the act. This world is full of people who has murdered for all kind of reasons, and in their own minds those reasons are very valid. For example, the Eskimos kill and or murder their female and sick infant babies at birth because of their nomadic lifestyle. Living in harsh climate conditions, moving around constantly, and having fewer mouths to feed make this infanticide justifiable within their culture. This is how these people live every day, so how can I say that this “murder” is really wrong because I’ve never had to endure what they have, in order to survive. I remember watching a documentary film showing how women in India, (where Hinduism is well known) were killing or aborting their girl babies. I learned this was because of cultural reasons; the parents with sons gain extra resources when they marry, some female babies are killed so the family does not have to pay a dowry or large sums of money when they are married. Girls are considered a drain on their families or a financial burden. I remember this made me feel very upset, I blamed the men of that culture, and I just wanted to fly to India (if I could) and do something about these babies being murdered. In many cases such pain is caused when a woman becomes a victim of a horrible, violent, and morally despicable crime. It is also considered an injustice when a pregnancy results from this crime of rape or incest. Arguably, many people justify having an abortion due to these tragic cases and the female should not be obligated to carry the baby. Many people may frown down on this doing this, but I believe that if rape or incest has never happened to you and you’ve never had to be placed in that situation, then you cannot understand their circumstance. There is a belief that once a woman becomes pregnant because of rape or incest, the fetus becomes the aggressor against her integrity and personal life; it is morally defensible to defend your personal values. So, this would make abortion a justified act and not really an act of murder, in its real true sense.
