His work for civil rights not only came when he had to provoke a change for his advancement, but even after he had advanced, he did not forget his fellow Negroes. His acts in the 1950's, 1960's and shortly in the 1970's has helped and influenced America to end segregation and racism in the world.
“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” Jackie Robinson went through many struggles from whites, since he was the first black baseball player. Robinson was an excellent ball player who exceeded at every level. He had a magnificent Batting Average and spoke against racism. Robinson played while dealing with threats from fans and other teams. Jackie Robinson, the first black baseball player, set many records and legacies for Americans to think about.
African Americans were among the worst treated races in the US; however, this did not stop them from fighting for the rights that so many had died for. It seemed as if black people would never be treated respectfully, but just like in comic books, there is always a hero that will fight for his people. This hero soon came to the scene and he was fierce enough to change the lives of many people. Most importantly, he broke the color barrier and created a path that would allow others to follow. However, something that was inevitable was the threats and racial remarks they had to face.
Successfully, Jackie Robinson made many advancements in the civil rights movement, helping his people move forward,
In addition to Rosa Parks, other American civil rights leaders were successful in using peaceful resistance to laws as a means to achieve equality for African Americans. For example, the sit-in movement led to the integration of many restaurants.

All the accomplishments Thurgood Marshall made through the courts to help minorities in society have equal justice is what makes Thurgood the most significant figure in American history.
While there were many significant events in the 1950’s, a movement in civil rights stands out the most in my mind. In America during the 1950’s there was a large disturbance and a great desire for African Americans to actually become Americans. Meaning that they could vote, not be segregated, and have all the other rights that other Americans had. While there are many great African Americans like Rosa Parks and attorney Thurgood Marshall that had a part in the civil rights movement of the 1950’s, Dr. Martin Luther King unarguably had the greatest impact. Dr. King felt that in order for the civil rights movement to be successful that, “We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline”. (Civil Rights Timeline, 2007) Based off this statement and belief, Dr. King lead many successful peace marches and even delivered the world famous “I Have a Dream” speech. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “If a man hasn't discove...
History has been full of men and women who have achieved great things for the cause of racial equality and justice in America. Figures such as Harry Truman, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr. have had great impacts in this area in recent history. I would add Harper Lee to this list by her writing of the 1960 novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, with the impact that the fictional lawyer Atticus Finch has had on real lawyers and the justice system.
...onal rights and freedoms that Americans are entitled to. On the positive side, this proved that blacks were capable of fighting for their rights and that their race did not prove anything about them. They struggled to do away with the “separate but equal” policy. After segregation ended, the blacks diminished any negative stereotypes that they were associated with. Despite the fact that Jim Crow has long been laid to rest, beliefs and stigmas of this era are still visible among the social and financial aspects of America. Democracy in the United States will always be a work in progress, because sometimes it does not live up to what it was set out to be. Some of the most discriminated against people helped secure the rights and freedoms we have today by serving our country. African Americans have assisted people today to achieve the American Dream (Contradictions).
In conclusion his ideas and speeches truly contributed to the development of Black Nationalist ideology and the black power movement in the late 1960s in the United States. He provided an inspirational story for the masses of African- Americans, and a voice of their rage and anger towards the infringement of their rights. He indeed was a revolutionary leader, and fate sadly finally caught up with him.
Malcolm X has made one of the greatest impacts on cultural consciousness for the African American Community during the second half of the twentieth century. He was a revolutionary icon who revolutionized the African American mindset. Malcolm X transformed modest African Americans into self confident, proud, powerful African Americans. No one could escape Malcolm’s influence, even after his death.
