Fear and love cannot coexist within a relationship. If you have too much fear, you will block yourself from ever finding love that will satisfy you. On the contrary, if you feel true, real love, it will diminish any fears you may have had. When you find the right, perfect love, they make you feel content, and like you don't have anything to fear about their love. They both talk down marriage many times throughout the play. Beatrice is a very independent woman and has no inclination to get married as she sees it as being trapped. In Act 2 Scene 1 she said, “Not till God makes men of some other metal than earth. Would it not grieve a woman to be overpowered with a piece of valiant dust? To make an account of her life to a crowd of wayward marls? In this quote she compares men to the dirt of the earth, and wonders what women wouldn't be miserable being married to a lump of dirt. This, along with many other things she frequently said, obviously shows how she felt about the idea of marriage and love. Benedick mocked the idea of marriage and said he would live as a bachelor forever. Benedick explains this in Act 1 Scene 1 when he says, Because I will not do them the wrong to mistrust any. I will do myself the right to trust none. And the fine is, for the which may go the finer, I will live a bachelor.. He is discussing with Don Pedro and Claudio how he doesn't trust any women at all, so instead of hurting them by making them aware he doesn't trust them, he is just going to avoid all women and remain a bachelor
