The second composition that helps Mt. Fuji be able to reach the symbol of Japan is the cultural aspects of Mt. Fuji. Since Mt. Fuji with a symmetrical shape was formed by multiple eruptions of volcanoes, Mt. Fuji has been called a sacred mountain to Japanese people, especially to many religious believers. From ancient times, in Japan, Shintoism and Buddhism have been most prevalent religion. For Shintoist, Mt. Fuji was the holy place in which Goddess, Sengen-Sama and incarnation of nature’s spirit stayed because they usually believed all nature has a spirit itself ("Mount Fuji" Sacred Destinations). Especially, the multiple eruptions of Mount Fuji were too enough for early Japanese people to believe there was a fire god who caused an eruption …show more content…
Fuji to be developed as the iconic center of Japan is the economic aspects of Mount Fuji. As Mount Fuji was formed by multiple eruptions of volcanoes, it brought very useful benefits caused by volcanism. The first and most important benefit from the eruption of Mount Fuji is the tourism. Since Mount Fuji was created, and it was widely known as a beautiful tourist attraction with a magnificent view, many resorts, hotels, gift shops, restaurants, various tourist facilities, etc were built around Mount Fuji in order to boost the growth of the tourism (“The Lakes”). Since various landscapes and cultural places were caused by the existence of Mount Fuji, diverse tourist attractions are also formed around Mount Fuji. For instance, five lakes, Sengen Shrines, Aokigahara Forest, Itchiku kubota art museum, or Shiraito no Taki water fall is the typical example for people to enjoy not only Mt. Fuji, but also many beautiful attractions which were caused by Fuji (TANIGUKU). These tourism spots are also one of factors to stimulate the economic activity around Mount Fuji. Actually, the most important factor of growing tourism business around Mt. Fuji is the hot spring. As Mount Fuji was created by volcanism, many hot springs were also formed around the mountain. Most hot springs are usually emitted from the ground water warmed up by the magma in volcanic regions. These hot springs are the main reason to promote the development of resorts and spas around …show more content…
Fuji. It means that although Mount Fuji was difficult for ordinary people to climb in the past, it becomes more available for anyone to be able to enjoy the climbing of Mt. Fuji today. As I mentioned above, every year more than 300,000 people have visited this wonderful and attractive site, and among those 300,000 people, 30 percent of climbers are foreigners (Interesting facts). It means that Mt Fuji is not just for only Japan. It is for everyone around the world now. Of course, there is a little problem since Mount Fuji is widely well-known to the global people. According to the New York Times, many visitors have dumped trashes in Mount Fuji every year, and this behavior has surely ruined the environment of Mount Fuji. Fortunately, more than tens of thousands people picked up those trashes around Mount Fuji as a volunteer work in order to preserve this beautiful mountain (BELSON). Mount Fuji goes beyond the mountain. It becomes Japanese living place, livelihood, culture, and the international symbol, and Mount Fuji can be the everlasting hub of Japan which takes charge of culture and economy of Japan until there are people who really love and care for the nature of Mount
Japan: The Only Victim of The Atomic Bomb Japan will never forget the day of August 6 and 9 in 1945; we became the only victim of the atomic bombs in the world. When the atomic bombs were dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, there was World War II. The decision to drop the atomic bombs was affected by different backgrounds such as the Manhattan Project, and the Pacific War. At Hiroshima City, the population of Hiroshima was 350,000 when the atomic bomb dropped. Also, the population of Nagasaki was around 250,000 ("Overview.").

Mt Fuji is a symbol of Japan: contributing to physical, cultural and spiritual representation of Japan. Fuji is also known as one of the three ‘holy’ mountains along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku Fuji stands 3776 meters (12380 feet). It’s still an active stratovolcano and sits on a triple junction of tectonic movement. Fuji is approximately 100km (62 miles) from the largest city and the capital of Japan, which is Tokyo. The last time Fuji erupted which was between 1707 and 1708, volcanic ash fell on Tokyo. Lately the volcano has experienced a rise in popularity from Japanese locals, tourists and artists. Around 2000 and 2001 Japan experienced seismic activity under the volcano and levels were slightly higher than usual, uplifting the concern for the reawakening of the volcano.
Shinto or “the way of the gods,” is one of the oldest religious beliefs. A large part of the Shinto beliefs have to do with regular catastrophes, animals, and plants. Over time Shinto has changed to keep up more with present day and the developing world, yet Shinto’s major ideals are still the same and is not any different than it was in 6 B.C.E. Shinto has had to change to keep up with the different emperors and world events so as not to disappear. Today a considerable amount of Japanese culture, like dance, writing, and music come from the religion and individuals can see Shinto’s mark on Japanese
Hayao Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke is a development of Japanese animation that can be seen as a romantic fable of two characters that were brought together through one cause; however, Miyazaki’s film can be seen as a Japanese cultural production. It is seen as a cultural production because it shows elements of Shinto through the Kami and the use of water for purification, as well as the female stereotype reversal that was quite dominant in the time of the Heian period. The characters in Princess Mononoke interact with the kami (gods or spirits) when they are in sacred sites or areas that assist in the contact. In Princess Mononoke, the mountain is the place where the characters make contact with the kami, which is their Shinto shrine because “originally there was no shrine building; rather, a shrine was simply a sacred precinct set apart in a certain area or around a sacred object such as a tree or stone” (Earhart, 1982, 34-35).
The Bikini Atoll is one of the twenty-nine atolls and five islands that make the Marshall Islands. The atolls that include the Bikini Atoll distribute across the Pacific Ocean which equal up to about 350,000 square miles. This an amazing size. The atoll of Bikini includes beautiful sandy beaches and swaying palms.
Mountaintop removal mining, a practice that was developed in the 1970s as an extension of surface strip mining, entails the removal of up to 800 vertical feet of a mountaintop or ridge in order to access deep coal seams. Practiced extensively in Southern Appalachia—primarily Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Tennessee—mountaintop removal is estimated to have impacted over 700,000 acres in the region (it is noteworthy that the 700,000 acre figure is based on coal company data, which geographers have claimed underestimates the actual extent of impact by as much as 40%).

The Yasuni National Park is the most biologically diverse place on the planet (Blitz 2015). “It includes humongous kapok trees, hairy tarantulas, squawking toucans, jumping spider monkeys and fierce jaguars, the diversity of organisms inhabiting Yasuní is astonishing (Blitz 2015)”. The Yasuni National Park which is located in Ecuador, was offered a specific amount of money to keep the government from touching the oil resources underground in the Yasuni Park. Unfortunately the nations that promised this did not keep their word, which made the president have to mine for oil to help his country. The citizens of Ecuador were not to happy about the president’s decision which resulted in a petition to stop the oil drilling of this park.

In the poem “Darkness” by Lord Byron, he begins his poem by saying “I had a dream, which was not all a dream” immediately leaving the reader to suspect that the rest of what they were about to read was his interpretation of a true story or event (line 1). The eruption of Mt. Tambora caused Byron to picture the breakdown of mankind and nature in the face of the end of the world and how they discarded their beliefs in the face of the mortality.
Tourism is often associated with traveling to places away from home. Tourism has a big impact on the economic growth of some countries, which define the shape of their cities by producing different sectors like historic districts, convention centers, museums, malls, hotels, restaurants, and the list can be endless. Furthermore, tourism elements have been developed by cities for a variety of reasons including: situating themselves in the world by drawing a positive image and attracting visitors and for their money.
Tourism is an important and intricate element to society. It affects economical, social, cultural and environmental elements. Tourism can be argued to have a negative impact on the environment and decrease our already depleting resources, but tourism can also be argued to be a major contributor to strengthening economies, spread cultural traditions and improve people’s lives. Because of the Japanese governments environmental and heritage preservation policies trekking, climbing Mt Fuji River rafting and sightseeing is a tourist favourite. The natural beauty of the country is one of the main attractions. This is a very common choice for Drifter tourists. These Allocentric tourists plan their trips alone, cost effectiveness is of high priority, and usually they will reside in hostels or with friends in the country. People who fall under this category are backpackers. They have a very high desire to mix with the local population.
