Throughout the duration of my lifetime, I have met an abundance of influential people. However, nobody had impacted my life like Ms. Mayorga, my former English teacher, and the best mentor I had.
I met Ms.Mayorga when I was in 7th grade. At first glance, her appearance intimidated me. She seemed to be strict and authoritative. However, throughout the year, I realized I was wrong. She held my hand and brought me into the sun with her love of the English Language. The first attractive quality she had was her ability to engage us in reading, so this made understanding the lessons easy. She often connected her lessons by giving real life scenarios, and sharing many personal stories to the classroom, so her students can take them as learning experiences.

Also, she used to make the classroom environment very welcoming by always smiling and being such a pleasant teacher. Furthermore, she encouraged me to use the vocabulary I learned in class and take it to another level. She influenced my academic goals by repeating everyday the same words “Do you want to clean windows and earn 10 dollar an hour or do you want to be a professional and earn a 100 dollars per hour?” “Do you want to anybody or someone that will make a difference?”. These very words inspired, influenced and encouraged me to do my very best and make her proud. Furthermore, she discovered that I had the potential to meet the common core standards and be outstanding. Everyday she used to give extra work so I could expand my knowledge and pass the ELA state test, despite the fact that I used to be an English Language Learner. As a result, my major goal was to pass the ELA state test , so I could be transfer to a monolingual class. Indeed, Ms. Mayorga helped to achieve my goal. One of the things that I like the most about Ms. Mayorga is that she always motivated me to do more and beyond and she always believed and me, when I didn’t believe in myself. The fact that as a hispanic
The lessons that are taught through experience are usually the ones that stick with children for a lifetime. In Toni Cade Bambara's “The Lesson”, Miss Moore, a prominent character in the story, teaches a lesson to underprivileged children growing up in Harlem. Bambara's work is described as “stories [that] portray women who struggle with issues and learn from them.” (Vertreace, Par. 48) Bambara uses Miss Moore and her characteristics to teach Sylvia and the other children about social inequality and the idea of pursuing personal aspirations regardless of social status. Miss Moore has many admirable characteristics; she's intelligent, patient and caring.
... to the United States, which made her really proud. Her rough teaching method actually left a positive impact on my life because I build a good habit of learning and using English, and also I feel so fortunate that I can get all of these supervision, criticism, encourage, and care from her.

If it hadn’t been for her making me learn how to think and learn for myself, I wouldn’t be where I am today. There were many times during my high school days where I needed to be independent in my learning because there were teachers who didn’t teach the lesson properly. While other student were struggling with those teachers I was able to overcome that trial and succeed in those classes. I’ve been told all my life that college is way more independent when it comes to learning than any other time I your life. I believe because I learned at such a young age how to teach myself, I have a greater chance at succeeding than other who have not had the same
She was the most caring and dedicated teacher I ever had and she respected every student as an individual. On the other hand, she had a very negative influence on my life. She is the person who told me there was no Santa Clause, which ruined Christmas for me for a very long time. Another person who has had a great influence on my life is Mr. Robinson. He was my first band teacher. He is the person who convinced me to join band, which
His teaching insights have allowed me to develop my public speaking and writing skills since many career paths require having good, clear speaking and writing skills at a professional level. Having these two educators in my family helped me push myself to take my work and classes seriously so I could succeed. Schooling was never something I could take lightly because I would never get that “A” without having to study or put in the effort. This helped build my work ethic because whenever I would get a superior score on an assignment or exam, it would naturally make me smile from ear to ear knowing I truly earned that grade. She could explain anything to me and I would understand straight away. She helped a lot for my education and always was there to help.
