The organization’s culture places an emphasis on a family centered framework that believes in eight principles. The first principle is that all children should be able to grow up in a safe and stable home. Secondly, it is implied most parents want to keep their children safe but some parents need to build on their family strengths. Thirdly, all families are different in culture, race and values. Fourth and fifth, when families are involved in CPS, CPS is responsible for finding permanency for the children and family engagement is more likely to occur if the family is involved in the process. Sixth, if parents are not able to protect their children from harm, CPS has the obligation to intervene for the child’s well-being. Next, if children have to be removed from their home, CPS should create and work on a permanency plan. Lastly, the permanency plan should be achieved as soon as possible (US Dept of Health and Human Services, 2013).
At this time youth is not on any medication. It was reported that Cyanna experience frequent physical and emotional abuse from biological mother towards youth and her siblings. Cyanna also experience frequent transitions during the 18 month period when she was in her mother’s care that resulted in four relocations and schools. Mrs. Hannah reports that Cyanna often present as sad and struggles with managing her anger and appropriately communicating her feelings. Youth express that her anger stems from her relationship with her mother. Cyanna does not speak to biological mother often and she reports that her mother does not understand her which causes conflict in their relationship. Cyanna has a good relationship with her father and stepmother. Mrs. Hannah is supportive of youth and wants her to be more self-confident. A parent does not need to have any biological associations to the child in order to be a parent to them. A parent must have certain characteristics to be rightfully called a parent. For many years psychologists have defined ways to correctly support a child to adulthood for parents all over the world. Some people conclude their practice of parenting their children after the child reaches the age of 18, and some have the duty as a lifelong job. One major reason family support is recognized is for the numerous and effective support it provides to individual and their families. Also, it contributes to the development and well-being of children, their parents and/or caregivers and the general community. Family support has grown from an individual perspective to family perspectives in providing services. The FRP provided twelve guidelines for providing accurate and effective services to clients and their families that will encourage inclusiveness in all areas. These guiding principles are recognized and practice daily in the programs provided by the Jane and Finch community and family center.

The American Educational System is not what it used to be. Many people fear the falling standards of the United States’ public school system. What with the harsh social environment, the controversial curriculum, the overpaid, corrupt teachers with their own agenda, and the exposure to horrifying new ideas and ways of thinking; Or at least this is what the paranoid parents of the United States have led themselves to believe. Anything looks bad when you look at it in such harsh light. Granted, there are a few (or several ) flaws in the Public Educational System but rather than make an attempt to help fix these problems, parents take it upon themselves to educate their own children and “fix” them. This alternative form of education known as Home School gives parents the opportunity to teach their children as they see fit. However, this method of schooling can prove to be more harmful to the child rather than helpful.
I began this program during the spring semester of 2014 at which time I enrolled in the working with family’s course. Unaware how much I would relate to the family systems theory in regards to my personal life. Moving forward I have been able to connect many situations during my practicum experience to this theory as well.
