Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library is a wacky adventure written by Chris Grabenstein. Chris, who does not only write books, works on movie, commercial, and comedy scripts. Because he is a reluctant reader, Chris wants to help kids who do not want to read. Mr. Grabenstein’s book Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library won twenty-one state choice awards, an Agatha Award, and the Mark Twain Readers Award. Luigi L. Lemoncello. Dr. Yanina Zinchanko is Mr. Lemoncello's business partner, and she is assigned to be the chief librarian at Mr. Lemoncello's new Alexandriaville Library. The plot unfolds when Kyle is grounded because he threw a wrench at a window while playing his favorite lemoncello game. On the bus to school, Kyle chats with his best friend, Akimi Hughes. Akimi reminds Kyle that an essay is due in class. At class, a guest speaker appears; it is a drone carrying a hologram of the library's old librarian, Mrs. Tobin. She informs the class that the essays about the Alexandriaville library are going to be judged, and whoever has the top essay can compete in a competition at the new library as a prize. The winners were as follows: Kyle, Akimi, Miguel Fernandez, Andrew Peckleman, Bridgette Wadge, Sierra Russell, Yasmeen Smith-Snyder, Sean Keegan, Haley Daley, Rose Vermette, Kayla Corson, and last but not least, Charles Chiltinton. Five of the winners were either eliminated or had prior commitments in the first part of the game.
