Who I think is the murderer! I think that Mr. Hoo is the murderer because he has a lot reason to want and kill Sam Westing, not only did Mr. Westing steal invention but he only gave him 25,000 dollars for it. Mr. Hoo thinks that Mr. Westing cheated him. The reason why Mr. Hoo would be so furious with Mr. Westing because Sam Westing stole his idea and made the disposable paper diaper and when Mr. Hoo tried to sue him, he never got a chance because Mr. Westing got in a car accident on the way to court. Then Mr. Westing disappeared and they never saw him until recently when they found him dead in his house. Since Mr. Hoo couldn’t really sue him, they settled it with Mr. Hoo to get 25,000 dollars from Mr. Westing. He didn’t feel like it
was enough and that he was still cheated. Mr. Hoo was always talking bad about Sam Westing. He would always say stuff like he got what he deserved, and that whoever killed him deserved a medal. Also, Mr.Hoo is smart enough to do this and get away with it because he is an inventor. He could have did something rare that nobody ever saw coming like poison or something just so that he would not have any major scars on his body that would lead the murder back to Mr. Hoo or his family. Mr. Hoo is also just a mean person all around. He doesn’t respect anybody not even his own son. He is just rude and cruel to everyone even Doug and his wife. The only time he says something to Doug is if he is yelling at him. In conclusion, I think that Mr. Hoo is the murderer because he wanted to get back at Mr. Westing for cheating him. Mr. Hoo always had a bad attitude when people talked about Mr. Westing. He would say stuff like Mr. Westing deserved what he got and whoever killed him deserved a medal. That is why I think Mr. Hoo killed Mr. Westing.
Dally you should not even think about killing yourself it will not solve anything and will only make thing worse for everybody who cares about you. I know that you will not believe this and think that the world is horrible and is not worth living in but I promise you that there is still good in the world. I know that you will say that there is not and that I am naive, but I was not the only one to see this even Johnny saw it as he was dieing. He wanted me to try to point this out to you but I knew that you would need more than just me and Johnny's persuasion so I got word from all of the gang and some idea of how to make things better.
I believe that Sam Westing was not murdered. He isn’t dead and the body that Turtle found in the Westing house, she said to J. J. Ford “‘But Mr. Westing didn’t look murdered,’ Turtle argued. ‘He looked asleep, like he did in the coffin. He looked like a wax dummy.’” (129). In the newspaper it said “Samuel W. Westing, the mysterious industrialist who disappeared thirteen years ago, was found dead in his Westingtown
One night Ponyboy,Johnny, and Dallas want out to the movies. Dallas was drunk and he was messing with the two ladies in front of them Cherry and Marcia. Dallas left to go get some drinks for the ladies came back and gave it to them but Cherry threw it in his face Marcia kept hers. After he uncovers Teddy’s paper world, the uncle reacts in a manner of ignorance and derision, mocking him for his decision to occupy himself with paper dolls. The uncle dubs Teddy as a “great big lummox … playing with paper dolls”, insulting Teddy for his hobbies with a tone of amusement and hysteria. In spite of Teddy’s agitation, the uncle prefers to make a mockery out of Teddy rather than accepting his unique hobbies, suggesting the uncle’s belief that Teddy’s activities are unfitting of someone of his age. In addition, Teddy’s uncle further aggravates Teddy by continuously ridiculing him, leading him to eventually destroy his treasured paper world. Despite Teddy’s attempts at validating the reality of his paper dolls, the uncle “burst into laughter, his cheeks the colour of a tomato.” Teddy’s uncle persistence in mocking Teddy implies his disapproval of Teddy’s world, believing that his world is ludicrous and absurd for someone of his age to be occupied with. The sustained laughter of Teddy’s uncle is explicit and deliberate, intended to warn Teddy against his immature hobby, an evident symbol of society’s expectation of
Later on that night, after her shift Mrs. Hantono went to collect her money. It was laying on the table where it always was. She was paid 40 dollars. But when she went to take the money she left 5 dollars. “In it place she leaves a five-dollar bill from her purse because she still could not get the stain out” (105). This symbolizes that Mrs. Hantono does not care about the rumors. She understand that she is the only person that the Mister has any contact with other than the people he works with. He is moving on with his life through her. She is the reason why he still has a reason to
Creon, you must allow me to bury my brother, Polyneices. I am obligated to bury him as it is my responsibility as his sister. Additionally, refusing a person a proper burial is immoral and against the will of the gods and of your people. Polyneices should be given a proper funeral as familial and social obligations permit his burial and because it will win you the respects of the gods and your people.
The story goes into explaining the difference between an organized and independent killer. Primarily, this story is of an independent killer whose contract with a customer determines his price for killing. The independent killer works for himself and trains and learns how to become a professional killer so that when a customer seeks a hitman, they know the perfect person that will perform the execution. Based off the contract for the hitman, it is beneficial that the hitman does not know the motive for killing; because, it may inhibit execution because of morally justified behavior. In the story of the hitman Pete, focused on what the money for killing might bring- (such as good reputation and a certain lifestyle), and ignored what the killing of one person might do and also the reaction of the victim during execution. When Pete encountered his first execution, the look on the victims face is what haunted him until his second killing. Based off the look from his first killing, is what ignited his suppressed feeling of deviance and wrongful killing, starting his professional hitman
The overall position I have used for the claims, reasoning, and text evidence is that Mr.Hoo killed Sam Westing. The first claim is that Mr. Westing stole his disposable paper diaper idea and made millions. In the text it says on page 101 “Hoo sued Sam Westing over the invention of the disposable paper diaper”. Mr.Hoo is jealous of Mr.Westing due to the fact that he did not make millions of dollars. Mr.Hoo is poor and must work while Mr.Westing is living the easy life with all that money he had gotten from the idea he got from Mr.Hoo making Mr.Hoo mad that it could have been his money. The second claim to go with the overall position I stated is that Mr.Hoo is a mean man. I know this since in the text it says on page 132 “Maybe i’m lucky my
Firstly, at the end of this story, the narrator’s illusions are the most powerful pieces of evidence for his madness. It is his two illusions that betrays him and imposed him to confess the crime. His first illusion is the beating of the old man’s heart which actually did not exist. Initialy, exactly as he portrayed "My head ached, and I fancied a ringing in my ears, it continued and became more distinct", the ringing he heard haunted him ceaselessly. Then he "found that the noise was not within his ear", and thought the fancy in his ear was the beating of old man’s heart. Because of the increasing noise, he thought the officers must hear it, too. However, in fact, everything he heard is absurd and illusive. And it proves that the narrator is really insane. Next, his second illusion is the officers’ "hypocritical smiles" which pushed him to completely be out of control. Losting of his mind, he called the officer "Villains". Apparently, he was confused and falsely thought "they were making a mockery of his horror" which irritated him intensively. Consequently, he told all the truth and "admitted the deed" in order to get rid of the growing noise. Therefore, the above two pieces of evidence both reveal the truth that the narrator is absolutely insane in contrary to what the narrator tried to tell us.
Julian Symons suggests that the murder of the old man is motiveless, and unconnected with passion or profit (212). But in a deeper sense, the murder does have a purpose: to ensure that the narrator does not have to endure the haunting of the Evil Eye any longer. To a madman, this is as good of a reason as any; in the mind of a madman, reason does not always win out over emotion.
I remember the first few days of move in. It was hot and gross. Georgia, Z, and Austin were the first to move in. The day the whole crew moved in was god damn shit show to say the least. I think I helped loft over half the floors' bed. The first house meeting was the only one with everyone there. I believe the first words out of my mouth were "Fuck It".
Critics pose interesting views concerning the identity and significance of the mysterious third murderer. Henry Irving provides an adamant argument as to how the Attendant could be the third murderer. Irving uses multiple cases in the story where, when interpreted a certain way, one can see how the Attendant is a prime suspect. This man's knowledge of and comfort with the structure and surroundings of the castle shows that he would be a valuable asset to the murderers.

Another question might be who. wanted Ole dead and sent "friends" to kill him. As this story involves gangsters. It could be that the person who wanted Ole dead was some. kind of gangster boss
