Music is a form of art that is appreciated in all cultures, because it usually carries a message.
I once read a quote which said, “When we are happy we enjoy the music, but when we are sad we understand the lyrics of a song.” This may be true depending on our perception, but what about the kind of music that have no words? Classical music which is very popular till this day dates to the mid 1700’s; music made in this genre have some masterpieces which stood the test of time and outlived their composers. They help us to express our innermost emotions whether sad, happy, or angry, and it can help us concentrate on a task without being distracted. Mozart and Beethoven are popular names that come up in the world of music; they contributed tremendously to the world of classical music with their talents. Although they’ve been gone for close to 200 years, their work is still being enjoyed and studied by many. Despite the similarities in the upbringing of both composers, both had different styles for composing music, and Beethoven had a hearing disability but Mozart didn’t. His hearing was so good he could tell the slightest mistake in a composition. Despite this, he had he own fair share of challenges. It is believed that he suffered, “Tourette Syndrome”; a neurological disorder characterized by nervous energy and involuntary cussing. This disorder is similar to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. He also had mood swings and was very fearful of his wife going out alone. Nannerl, Mozart sister, acknowledges that “her brother who was composing music so well at such an early age was still very much a child in all other parts of his life. He wasn’t able to have very much control of himself as an adult even till he died.” This may explain why Mozart died a poor man; He had such talent and earn himself a good living, but wasn’t able to keep it up because he could control his spending

Beethoven’s early life was one out of a sad story book. For being one of the most well-known musicians one would think that sometime during Beethovens childhood he was influenced and inspired to play music; This was not the case. His father was indeed a musician but he was more interested in drinking than he was playing music. When his father saw the smallest sliver of music interest in Beethoven he immediately put him into vigorous musical training in hopes he would be the next Mozart; his training included organ, viola, and piano. This tainted how young Beethoven saw music and the memories that music brought. The result of Mozart's discovered genius was not only the praise of hundreds across Europe during his childhood tour, but also the ever-watchful eye of Leopold Mozart, his ambitious and needy father. Because of Leopold's need to protect and constantly supervise his prized instrument, Mozart, Leopold grew dependent on his son and never ceased to remind Mozart of it. Eventually, like most child prodigies, the greater the parent's anxiety and the greater the pressure he puts on the child, the more internally resentful and conflicted the child becomes, stunting his transition into a grown man. In Leopold's letter to his wife and Mozart on September 25, 1777 from Salzburg, Leopold reminds Mozart to "ask for letters of recommendation and especially for a letter from the Bishop of Chiemsee." Leopold knows exactly how to reap profits and network through Mozart and doesn't fail to capitalize on that fact, even when Leopold is in Salzburg while Mozart is miles away on tour in Europe. After the tragic death of Maria Anna, Leopold Mozart's letter to his son on August 3, 1778 in Salzburg puts a large weight on Mozart, and even goes as far as to blame his son for Maria Anna's death. Realizing Mozart is no longer under strict scrutiny of a family member in close proximity, Leopold goes on to say, "rest assured, my dearest son, that if you stay away, I shall die much sooner." The situation Leopold presents his son is a complex one. Mozart is a young man seeking independence and fame now that his family is not following his every footstep, but his father has grown more dependent on Mozart than ever. Mozart is more internally conflicted between his ambitions and family obligations as ever, as he writes to his friend Abbe Bullinger on August 7, 1778: "You say that I should now think only of my father and that I should disclose all my thoughts to him with entire frankness and put my trust in him.

Since the earliest days of human civilization music has been a key tool for communication of stories which carried emotions through them. If we think back to our youngest years of life music has surrounded us whether it was from our parents singing us lullabies or from some sort of toy that played music we can say that musical melodies have helped shape or lives one way or another. Once we start growing up and figuring out who we are our musical preferences change; some people like classical and some like punk. We start to befriend people who like the same music as us and eventually we may attend a musical event. Our lives somewhat revolve around the music that we listen to.

Both musical composers changed the world of music and captivated the hearts of many. Their love of composing shared many similar traits, though their musical styles were much different.

XVI:52)) and the first and last piano sonatas of Beethoven (Piano Sonata No. 1 in F minor Op. 2, No.1, Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor Op. 111), this essay will study the development of Beethoven’s composition style and how this conformed or didn’t conform to the Classical style. The concepts of pitch and expressive techniques will be focused on, with a broader breakdown on how these two concepts affect many of the other concepts of music. To make things simpler, this essay will analyse only the first movements of each of the sonatas mentioned.
They had a talent for creating amazing music. They were also a versatile composers, able to write in nearly every major genre. Their music was also meant to influence the next generations of music to come. Mozart’s music was meant to make you nice and comfortable. Beethoven’s was a bit more dark and moody.
In 1800, Beethoven had wrote his first ever symphony. He was just 30 years old and already showing symptoms of hearing lost. This just shows how dedicated and genius Beethoven was. Nobody at the time was doing anything remotely close to what he was writing. Not to mention, he was going deaf. It really shows how involved and dedicated he was to music and how he passion for natural and what he heard in the world, transferred into his pieces.

Beethoven changed the sound of music in the early 1800’s from bland and meaningless, to exciting and heartfelt. You felt Beethoven’s pain through his music. As an adult Mozart his career was not as successful as when he was younger. But he kept on composing anyway hoping one people would appreciate his work. He lived in poverty for the great majority of his life. In 1769 he became a concertmaster to the archbishop of Salzburg, which was another one of his jobs that afforded him little financial security. In 1777, he left on another concert tour. But, the courts of Europe ignored Mozart ‘s search for a more beneficial assignment. In 1782 he earned a living by selling compositions, giving public performances, and giving music lessons, which once again was a low paying job. The composer never did find a well paying job. The bizarre thing was is that even that he had ton of trouble finding jobs, he was still considered one of the leading composers of the late 1700s.
