A disturbed children’s TV puppeteer suspects he might be responsible for the disappearance and murder of several people. STORY COMMENTS MR. FRANK is a chilling and compelling, psychological thriller that delivers an unnerving and lurid tale. There’s a sense of style that makes this plot feel like an Alfred Hitchcock film or Rod Serling Twilight Zone episode. MR. FRANK, undeniably, would make for a very captivating and terrifying film and is worth consideration. The plot easily engages the audience. The plot creates a solid and compelling mystery that quickly pulls the audience into the story world. In fact, the audience is hooked from the opening. The plot maintains the audience’s interest and keeps one captivated all the way until the climax when the killer is revealed. The goal is well defined and the stakes are life …show more content…
The audience does care about Mr. Frank. His voice nicely reflects his personality and his conflicts. He’s fascinating to listen to. Loretta is a drama queen looking for attention. She’s very unique and eccentric. Steve is well established as the brute bully. Daisy is effective as the caring helper, turned killer. Visual storytelling is well crafted with the visual of the creepy dolls, especially Timmy The Terrible with his smirky smile, and the butcher-blood image. The piece of blond hair initially is frightening. The planted evidence visually works well. There are some minor formatting errors, in which more specific locations can be specified. On page 96 when the police show up, make this a separate scene. SUMMARY & MARKETABILITY Psychological thrillers are marketable in both the domestic and international marketplace. Target audience is mainstream thriller. The role of Mr. Frank is complex and should attract talent. The supporting cast is also well done. Mr. Frank would make for a compelling
Suspense, something vital filmmakers, and authors need in their stories, but how does someone include suspense in their stories that gets the audience on the edge of their seats and begging for more? In the essay, “Let Em’ Play God” by Alfred Hitchcock, he states that letting the audience know everything while the characters don’t create suspense.
Josh Pachter’s “Invitation to a Murder” uses passage of time, inference gaps, and foreshadowing to add suspense. Dramatic irony, inference gaps and red herrings create suspense in “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl. “The Adventure of the Speckled Band” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle uses mystery elements of many possible suspects, accumulation of clues and hidden evidence as catalysts for suspense. All three authors cleverly created anticipation in their work with mystery elements that kept the potential to hold captive their reader’s attention until the very last
Just imagine, with an all star cast and a high budget set, this film can have great potential. Our leading man, David Nennius, can be played by none other than the handsome Keanu Reeves and his leading lady, Melissa, can be played by the beautiful half African American and half Caucasian, Halle Berry. The rest of the cast can include Elizabeth Hurley as David's pitiful mother, Mary, Cameron Diaz as Rachel, Robert Downey Jr. as her husband Matthew, Hugh Grant as Quinn, and special appearances by Richard Gere as William Meredith and Bruce Willis as Alasdair (Ally). Of course, we would need about ten to fifteen more extras to fill the roles of characters like Art, Grace, Emrys, David's anonymous father, and the man who gets brutally killed by David.
First and perhaps most essential to any story is the plot. The plot is defined as,
Frank’s ability to manipulate people and then his consequent obtaining of these dark powers are shrouded in mystery. He has no idea where they came from and he is also a living ghost. As he carries out his revenge against his ex-colleagues, black spots cloud his vision and gaping holes appear in his memory.
That is why the distinction so frequently drawn between plot and story, fabula and sjuzhet, while handy, turns most provocative precisely when it cannot be made, when the temptation is there for us to make it as readers, when the way to do it seems at hand, but we are stopped ultimately from completing it. Too many Cliffs Notes to The Sound and the Fury have made modernist plot-story scramblings predictable, easy-to-read. But still we watch out for when the story turns out to be such that its arrangement prevents us from decrypting, excavating it. The end (the story) stymies the means (the plot) and vice versa.
...rves the way for the plot, the theme is the central idea around which a literary piece revolves. Without the theme the plot would be meaningless and there would be nothing for the readers to derive from the literary piece. Without the plot, the theme would be meaningless as there would be nowhere to consign the message the writer intends to give the reader. It can be said that the plot and theme are the two most important literary elements of a literary piece and are inter-dependant.
The first of the three is, Frank. Frank is secretive saying “ that's between us… That's confidential, you keep your mouth shut.” (paragraph 21, page 88) He is also brutally honest, when he exploits his opinion, “All i can say is it’s the first diet I’ve ever heard of where you gain weight from it.”(paragraph 33, page 88) In contrast to that, he is caring “Frank close his eyes then looked down at Kenny again, “Where does it hurt?” (paragraph
The novel gets the viewer's attention. They use many elements that attract the reader so they could continue to read. This book has suspense in each chapter. It causes the viewer to want to learn more about the characters and their life.
Being deeply interested in a story is something many readers achieve. Have these readers ever wondered the true reason as to why they are so involved in these stories? The writer has to consider how the story must be told, what the best possible way to convey his or her ideas is, and what effect it must have on a reader. To draw the reader's attention, literary devices such as irony and foreshadowing are utilized by authors. The writer retains interest through proper use of these elements.
How did being both Irish and Catholic influence and shape his life? With Irish people, they are typically known to have religion as their top priority, and with Catholics they have certain standards that you must abide by or they will be outcast by your peers and family. This doesn’t help Frank because his friends, family, and school masters were all trying to force him to do things. Some of his friends made him do things he wasn't supposed to, so he got in trouble with his family and school masters and his church. It shaped/influenced his life because he learned what he needed to do and was forced to do them or he was outcast.
Ray Bradbury often uses the element of suspense in his stories to keep them interesting. Suspense is used in stories to create attentiveness and make the reader uncertain about the outcome. Since “suspense is a genuine, distinct element in our emotional framework,” it is often used to hook the reader and then draw them into the story and create momentum for the plot. Although the goal is clear in suspenseful stories, suspense creates many ways in which the problem can be solved.
The performers of the play did a great job portraying their character roles. The performers acted out with so much emotion that they made their roles seem very realistic to the point is was believable. For example, the argument between Harry and Mike about bringing in a consultant for the restaurant was so heated to the point that I thought it would affect Mike’s health. Mike was very agitated and frustrated that Harry couldn’t understand the need for a consultant. As stated in The Theater Experience, one important aspect of the craft of acting is credibility (Wilson 73). All four performers in the play did an exceptional job in making sure that they brought out their inner truth and physical
Just recently, I had the pleasure of watching Trumbo with my English class. Coming from someone who usually watches Sci-Fi and Action Adventure movies, this history based film fantastically told a story about the past without the scenes being dull and boring. Obviously, an exceeding amount of time and effort was put into creating this film and I appreciate how none of the characters’ personalities were “sugar coated”, not even Dalton Trumbo. The performance you did as Dalton Trumbo brought him to life and made it believable that Trumbo was a real person. In addition, the film truly draws a clear picture of the theme of uncorrupting and non violent revenge. Furthermore, learning about how Dalton Trumbo successfully survived through the blacklist inspired me to strive for success in this unfair world. Overall, the way Dalton Trumbo’s character, the theme and the way Trumbo’s success are portrayed create a phenomenal film.
