Imagine a little girl watching on TV a documentary about an African tribe to which water was sacred because it was very scarce. That girl was me I was 8 years old and It was the first time I understood natural resources are limited and that we do not have the same water and food accessibility and accessibility. A few long time afterwards I started to be interested in the environmental and food issues and I became a Greenpeace volunteer against genetically altered organisms. Then, I read a story about the expectations in agriculture by 2050 and I realized that the planet needed solutions based on scientific knowledge like biotechnology. This and other experiences motivated my life plan and motivated to apply to the Agris Mundus Master of Science. During my youth I went to several religious missions to rural and indigenous regions in my country. In Guerrero, the coffee producers spent much time harvesting a coffee beans bag and then they sold it at a very low price; the price was equivalent to two and a half liters of milk. What could they do with that money if they were a family of five persons? Also, I remember the two community stores in a very poor village in Oaxaca: they only offered sugar beverages, sweet bread, milk, candies and chips, but no fruits or vegetables. How could they improve their nutritional status? Also, I remember a woman who lived alone with her three children because her husband went to the USA to work; they only ate beans and tortillas, and sometimes eggs from her two hens. Also, I remember a family who received milk and vitamins for the children from the state, but they gave it to the animals. All these experiences made me question how could I efficiently help to people? By then I was already studying nutr... ... middle of paper ... ...asurable results, a required feature to do research. Curiosity and creativity are two core elements of my personality and they keep me motivated looking for latest information and creating solutions to the food and nutritional problems. I think I'm good at working in a team, I always try to listen to others and to be resilient to the different opinions and suggestions. Also, I can work with people of different ages, gender, educational level and socioeconomic status; this made me a goof field worker. I am a very analytical person and flexible thinking, and this has helped me a lot to suggest creative solutions to my patients. All of this made the little girl a perfect candidate for the Agris Mundus Master of Science, because, she, I have a very experience supported motivation and the Msc will be a very important step to achieve my goals and to help the people.
I am a biology and chemistry major at Harford Community College and am working to obtain an associate of science degree in biology and chemistry- calculus based physics from HCC. My plan is to transfer to the University of Maryland and study Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine with the goal of entering Veterinary School. I have been working towards veterinary school since I was fourteen years old. My passion for the subject began while I was working at Olney Farm, a horse farm in Fallston, MD. I began horseback riding at ten-years old and started volunteering at the farm within five months of my first lesson.
I believe each one of us is gifted with a certain potential, and we are trimmed and molded accordingly by the tribulations of time until we reach our goal. Julia Roberts is an actress, Ronaldo a soccer player, and I am a doctor. What separates me from them is that, they have mastered the art, which in essence fulfills their destiny while I still soldier on with hard work in hand, and ambition right ahead. A wise man once said ‘Success is a journey, not a destination. Have faith in your ability rest will be just fine’. Inspired by my mentor at Shifa Clinical Research Center Islamabad, who I credit for my understanding of the sublime nature and cause of the term ‘research’, I wish to be on board as faculty at the institution in
There are national aid programs like SNAP, the UN World Food Programme, and Feeding America, trying to reduce hunger by providing access to food, resources, and the means to keep up those efforts. There are also councils like the UN Social and Economic Council, trying to implement policies in order to reduce and prevent food insecurity. Teaching people that having sustainable development is better than just relying on aid is also very important.
Most people in poverty deal with many terrible things. 21,000 people daily die from hunger related causes. Many individuals fall ill from lack of clean drinking water and then when they are ill can’t go to work and they also can’t afford the medication needed to get better. 28% of children in developing countries have stunted growth or are underweight. 72 million children worldwide don’t go to school at all. Because of this nearly one billion people can’t read a book or even sign their name. In most areas a family of four needs...
I have been always interested in having a career that is related to health and wellbeing, in fact a career that gets the university education directly involved and puts it into practice. General medical practitioner is the suitable career match for me. I have been studying science for quite a while and I truly enjoy learning more through this field. Choosing medicine as a career is not just about the university education though, suitable character, interpersonal skills and many other factors are contributing for being successful, and I was trying to understand myself, my interests and evaluate my skills to investigate if I am a suitable match for this job. The last shot for the personality evaluation was in bioscience work shop and I have found out that I am more of an artistic person who seeks independence through work and fine with team work, also creative, on the other hand people and data focus and I could find many other useful skills within this category that matches my future career. Accordingly I could be a suitable candidate to pursue this job after having related education and practice. It is easy to have a strong income while working as a medical practitioner or generally a medical doctor but it does not pay off easily as there is a great responsibility involved and it could be a very stressful job. After all it is valuable that the daily activities of a medical doctor contribute in making a healthier society and productive in a very positive way. Being productive at the end of the day for a job, is a very important factor for me to consider about my future career, and medical GP is a very best example of being productive in many different aspects.
The desire to help people and make a difference in the society is what attracted me to the field of medicine. As a child I was always interested in science as a subject and participated in many National Level Science competitions. I volunteered for Urban Leprosy control program, which gave me an opportunity to interact with Leprosy patients and participate in activities aimed at educating people about the disease and disease prevention. It was during this time that I had a chance to closely observe the relationship between a doctor and the patient and I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in the field of medicine.
For instance, it was an extremely sunny day in Ghana, West Africa, and I had gone out to the well to fetch water. It was while carrying the bucket of water on my way back that I noticed my neighbor’s children fighting over the insufficient amount of food that they had to share. My family and I were not rich but from what I saw, I knew that we were better off than other people I knew. I carried the bucket of water inside the house and came back outside to call the two youngest children that were fighting over the last grain of food. I shared my food my food with them and though it was not sufficient for all, feeding the younger ones alone was better than not helping any one of them at all. There was only little that I could possibly do but by sharing, I had helped them in a great way, even if it was just for the time being.
Along with the research I have completed with this topic, I recently visited an organization in Schaumburg, IL called FMSC (Feed My Starving Children) a local organization with seven locations, in the U.S. that provide food to children and families in need of a me...
If every community could reach out and teach this vital knowledge to one other community, the hunger rate would drop immensely. Instead of relying on outside sources for food, the community would be responsible for growing their own food. Once set into place, it would be almost an immediate change. But in order for that to happen, there has to be a program set in place that is willing to donate the necessary tools and supplies that are needed to start farming. Once learned and mastered, the farmers would take care of the rest once taught how to. Eliminating worldwide hunger is not something that is going to happen overnight. It will take a substantial amount of effort from wealthier countries that are willing to help. Men, women, and children die every day from malnourishment and there is a
My next characteristic is Investigative and I don’t see much of me being that type of person except certain aspects of the description. I do like to work alone rather than working with a group since I rather get things done quick and easily, and also that I know that I can depend on myself to get things done rather than hoping that half of the other task does get completed. I do sometimes feel that my leadership skills are not always very good than what they should be. Only reason I feel this is from past experiences I have faced that have showed me that I’m part of the crowd than being outside and different from socie...
Technology is increasing exponentially, and now I am a part of that ‘future’. When I look into my future, I see myself working toward the minimization of the human imprint in our world more specifically energy consumption. Being an Electrical Engineer, clean energy is an area that I am deeply passionate about. We are part of an ecosystem which is threatened every day by our wastes. Yes! We do use recycling, wind turbines, and hydraulics, but we need to take advantage of these to produce cleaner energy. To get closer to my passion, I will master in Mechanical Engineering so that I can have a clear understanding of the interactions of electronics and their mechanics. I believe every engineer should take some type of environmental courses to understand the direct effects of engineering in our surroundings. Therefore, one my academic goals is to study the environment so that when I create something I have thought of the ways it may impact nature. When I imagine my finish line, I see myself working alongside others who want to build a greener planet, who want to see oil-free oceans, and who can coexist with nature. I believe that engineering is the way to move towards this future and it is the reason why I decided to pursue it. In H.A.C.U, I will meet people who share similar views as me, who are willing to collaborate ideas,
Poverty is prevalent throughout the world around us. We watch television and see famous people begging us to sponsor a child for only ten dollars a month. We think in our own minds that ten dollars is only pocket change, but to those children and their families, that ten dollars is a large portion of their annual income. We see images of starving children in far away countries, and our hearts go out to them. But we really do not know the implications of poverty, why it exists, or even what we can do to help combat this giant problem in our world.
I am very glad to apply for admission in the Master Degree in international business and export management offered at your University (IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems). My interest in business management arose early soon after Graduation when I was on a hunt for a job in field of sales and marketing in a multinational pharmaceutical company soon after graduation in 2007.
I perceive that some of my personality traits were beneficial to our group project. With moderate levels of openness, I was able to play with ideas and was open to new ideas from other groupmates during our brainstorming session. But, I was also able to seek a balance between being overly imaginative or conservative, especially when we tried to narrow down and finalize our ideas as I emphasized on justifications when we discussed
The enigma of life and the mystery of living organisms have always fascinated me. The persistent developments in the field of Biotechnology have opened up growth opportunities that are beneficial to the individual as well as the society. The perfect combination of theory and practical knowledge is required to succeed in this field. I want to be an element of innovation in this field, which is creating a better tomorrow for everyone. To do this, I need to prepare myself with mandatory knowledge that only a Masters' program can provide. I envision your university as the right stepping stone to pursue my dreams and achieve my career goals. Having been brought up in a strong and secure family, my parents have inculcated good values and principles in me. My parents’ support has always motivated me to reach my goals. Being from a family where both my parents' are highly educated and my father having done his Doctorate in Botany has always inspired me to pursue my ultimate goal of being a researcher, either in industry or in academia in this field. In the coming years, I visualize myself as a researcher or as a faculty member in one of the leading universities in the United States. I strongly believe that a Masters Degree in Biotechnology from your prestigious University will act as a crucial first step in the process of realizing my career objectives.
