Recommended: Earths rotation and revolution
The Earth spins around an axis. The Earth takes (a bit more than) one day to go around once. This axis is pointing off somewhere in space. This axis (mostly) doesn’t move. At the same time, the Earth is orbiting the Sun. It takes (a bit more than) one year to go around once. The plane of the Earth’s orbit (mostly) doesn’t move. The spin axis of the Earth’s daily rotation is not perpendicular to the plane of the Earth’s orbit. It is tilted (approximately) 23.4 degrees. The angle of tilt (mostly) doesn’t change.
Earth does not spin perpendicular to the plane it is tilted, the reason earth is tilted is because it got hit by meteoroids and other stuff when the planets first formed.
Also it takes about 24 hours for one period of earth rotate. From that we get sunlight, half of our days.
We can calculate easily how fast earth is spinning by 2πR(radius of the earth)/24 hours. but that is just speed of the equator of the earth. We have different spinning speed every different latitude.
As we could see from above picture every latitude have different speed of spinning per hour. And speed of the earth spinning could effect on such as water reservoirs. We don't feel that because everything else is moving with us and because the motion is very, very smooth.
Changes in the Earth's spin are measured in terms of length of days. A faster spin shortens the length of daylight. "Due to the reservoir effect," (Chao). "the day 40 years ago was longer than today by about 8 millionths of a second." More significant, he said, is the fact that the sporadic spacing of water reservoirs has changed the Earth's axis. Since 1940, water impoundment has pushed the axis of rotation about 60 centimeters away from the North Pole toward western Canada, said by Chao
Also it effect on the direction of the wind and movement of the clouds.
"Stars and planets form as a result of the gravitational collapse of accreting material. Any net translational motion of that initial material is accelerated as its radius of rotation decreases. Once an initial spin was established for the Earth, the same conservation principle says that its angular momentum will continue unless it can be transferred to another object. With no significant frictional forces to allow that to happen, the Earth can continue to spin indefinitely without any further prodding" said by Paul Walorski.
The Mantle makes up 70% of the Earth’s mass and is mostly solid but capable of flow, causing changes in the Earth’s surface.

Ocean currents are horizontal or vertical movement of both surface and deep water throughout the world’s oceans (Briney, n.d.). The primary generating forces are wind and differences in water density caused by variations in temperature and salinity. Currents generated by these forces are modified by factors such as the depth of the water, ocean floor topography and deflection by the rotation of the Earth. Horizontal currents are wind driven, fast moving and carries small amount of water; while, vertical currents are slow moving, density driven and carries large bodies of water. In this paper I will describe horizontal and vertical currents, their importance and some of the tools used to measure ocean currents.
Our sun is the central pivot point to which or entire planet and solar system is built around. With out it all life on our planet would cease to exist. Within this paper we will explore how our Sun and solar system formed and came to resemble what we see today.
The basic science is pretty straightforward. The earth lurches from time to time because its outer shell is broken into huge, solid plates floating on a layer of molten rock that has the consistency of Silly Putty. These tectonic plates are constantly jostling each other, like rafts crowded into a...
What were we doing when we unchained this earth from its sun? Whither is it moving now? Whither are we moving? Away from all suns? Are we not plung...
Magnetic Field: The Earth has a superior magnetic field due to a core consisting of iron and nickel. Currently the rotation of the Earth and its Coriolis effect help to create this pull of the tides from the oceans. The northern lights or lurora Borealis can be seen at various times in a mystifying view of beauty.
Ever since the beginning on time, Humans believed the ground is solid and immobile. But this is not true whatsoever. The Earth is every-changing and continually in motion. The stability of the Earth is not at all what we think it is. Thinking about the rotational axis of the Earth, and possibly of what the Earth may become at a certain point in time, has a great influence on understanding all aspects of living things, either in the past, present, or future. The Theory of Plate tectonics is accredited to most of the creations of Mountain Ranges, the Centennial drifting Theory, for earthquakes, and volcanic activity. Plate tectonics and mountains also play a big part in the Earth and its geological features.
Next, he saw four moons of Jupiter revolving around the Jupiter. Although, these discoveries did not prove the Copernicus’s theory, they gave framework for thinking universe in the new terms. He thought perhaps earth’s moon also revolves around the planet while the earth orbits around the sun. His another observation was that the Venus itself had phases like the moon had, even though the planet always appeared as a bright spot from the earth. (Strano 23-9). Moreover, in “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems,” the astronomer Galileo Galilei did not prove that earth revolves around the sun or rotates in its axis, but he did prove Ptolemy was wrong about the arrangement of the planets (Gingerich 141). Thereafter, Galileo wanted to Earth was moving, not the sun, and he got his answer by observing ocean tides. “Galileo explains how the observed motion of the sea is a direct consequence of the two absolute motions of the earth in space: its axial rotation and its orbital motion about the sun” (Naylor 11-5). In short, he argues that the motion of earth cause tidal waves to move. The book was popular in its time before Roman Catholic church banned it. The church had an issue with Galileo supporting
The earth cannot be exactly represented by a single bar magnet but has numerous higher order poles and very large –scale anomalous features owing to unknown characteristics of the generating mechanism in the earths core. As shown in fig 1 the solar wind or constant flux of particles and electric currents from the sun distort the field lines. The deviation from asymmetric field is the anomalous set of features in the
The results of this experiment were inconclusive. The experiment relied on the fact that the speed of light through the "ether wind" (the speed of the ether as the travels through space) would change according to Galilean transformations (explained in more detail later). Thus the speed of light as it traveled against the direction of the ether should have been the normal speed of light subtracted from the speed of the ether. The speed of light was found to have no change, thus it was concluded that it would be impossible to determine the speed of the Earth through the ether.
The world as we know it is, it is changing in all aspects like rapid advancement in technology and science factors which make the world climate to change. Climate change thus means the variation of global weather conditions. Climate change is the seasonal changes for a long period of time in the world. These climate patterns play an important role in shaping natural ecosystems, and the human economies and cultures that depend on them. For example, the changes in climate can affect how people, plants and animal live, such as food production and health risks. As the earth's climate is dynamic and always changing through a natural cycle, but most recently the scientists have recorded that the earth climatic changes are rapid, unpredictable and not following the natural cycle of global climatic changes of
The hemisphere tilted towards the sun has longer days and shorter nights while the hemisphere tilted away from the sun has shorter days and longer nights. The equator gets no seasonal changes because sunlight hits it at a constant angle. Geographical regions around the equator receive about 12 hours of sunlight every day. Earth’s tilt is said to have been created when an object the size of the moon collided with earth and skewed its rotation. This one sequence of an event made life on earth possible. The poles remain frozen because they are never, at a particular moment, facing the sun in any way. Another factor of climate is high elevation. Areas with extreme height or elevation, in general, are always cold. It doesn’t matter where on earth this region is, so long as it is greatly elevated, it will always be cold. The reason for elevated regions being so cold is that low pressures at higher altitudes cause temperatures to drop drastically compared to sea level. Plant life and most wildlife don’t appear in very high elevations. All types of plants stop growing at an approximate height of 10,000ft (Snyder 2008). This is because the conditions just can’t support plant’s needs to thrive. These are some of the major factors that affect climate around the
