She helped countless lives, not caring for any benefits being given to her. She dedicated her entire life to serving everyone beside herself. Mother Teresa is one of history’s, if not, most selfless person. When she passed, the world lost a truly great human being. Millions of grieved, whether they were Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. Nevertheless, her death did not stop the ongoing effects of her benevolence.
Her contribution to society can be compared to no other. She ran homes and missionaries for the poor and unwanted, whose needs were practically ignored by the local government. She opened her arms to the unloved and embraced them with her pure compassion.
Many classify a good Christian as one who attends church every Sunday, prays every night, follows all of God’s commands, etc. The truth is, the faith of Christianity is more than just folding your hands together and whispering your thoughts out loud. Mother Teresa demonstrated a perfect Christian by not only praying to the Lord, but by placing him first in her life. She demonstrated the ideal attributes of a
A saint is a virtuous person that is honored by church after death who is considered to a degree of holiness and is blessed. In most Christian denominations think all people are saints in the Catholic Church the term saint is given to a person whom which the church has officially been canonized. Furthermore, the Catholic Church explains that they do not create or make a saint; however, they recognize saints. In fact, Frances Xavier Cabrini or as many people refer to her as Mother Cabrini is the first person to be canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church.
If Dorothy Day is ever canonized, the record of who she was, what she was like and what she did is too complete and accessible for her to be hidden. She will be the patron saint not only of the homeless and those who try to care for them but also of people who lose their temper. One of the miracles of Dorothy's life is that she remained part of a conflict-torn community for nearly a half a century. Still more remarkable, she remained a person of hope and gratitude to the end. Many voices are in support of the canonization process as well, citing Dorothy Day's life as an example that has inspired them to prayer and action for social justice. Her faithfulness to the Gospel, living the "preferential option for the poor" and showing that a lay person can achieve heroic virtue are oft...
...She was preparing candy for the local children around Christmas time. For about thirty years, Mother Cabrini had traveled regularly from place to place where her schools, orphanages, and hospitals were located. During her second mission, she started writing letters to the missionary sisters telling them about her travels and the daily events. To this day, the letters are still in great condition and still legible. Since Mother Cabrini died, she was sixty-seven years old and because of that, sixty-seven missions of the Institute have been established. Each is a different category of ministry including healing, teaching, caring, giving, and helping in the cities of United States as well as in Europe and South America. Her legacy still lives on to this day and as do her schools, hospitals, and orphanages.
Even when she was sick, nearing the end of her journey here on earth, she continued praying for others, mostly their healing in addition to their salvation. She prayed daily, in private, asking God for his hand to touch others hearts and souls. Never once did she ask for anything for herself. While enduring chemotherapy, she came to work as long as she felt she could. My mother did these things out of care and concern for others. These actions were done not for her own reward, but because it was the right thing to

Have you ever had to choose between living a life of luxury and plenty or choose one that contained hardship and want, but you were able to help the poor? Mother Teresa, in the book Something Beautiful for God, written by Malcum Muggeridge, had to face this same issue. Everyone believes that Mother Teresa helped the poor, but some believe that Mother Teresa should have helped them and some believe they should have not.
According to her sister, she had no bad blood with anyone. She was noble, kind, loving and occasionally donated her money to orphanages, and shelters.
Saints are flawed, everyday people who said yes to God and his will. Saints are perfect examples of how we can either turn our lives around, or make a conscious decision to willingly choose God. Our lives are full of temptations that will turn us away for Christ, but we have to remember that we are not on this journey alone. Saint Catherine of Siena is not only a role model for Catholics to turn to, but she is an accomplished woman who will be remembered for many years to come.
A Saint is a person of great holiness and virtue which was exactly who Saint Bernadette de lourdes was. her full name is Marie-Bernadette Soubirous and she was born in Lourdes, France on January 7th, 1879 and lived until the age of 35. Saint Bernadette was the eldest of six children of a rather poor family but despite the harsh living conditions that surrounded Bernadette her faith remained strong for she kept in mind that her sufferings were nothing compared to what our Lord Jesus Christ had to do for us, “Why must we suffer? Because here below pure love cannot exist without suffering. O Jesus, Jesus I no longer feel my cross when I think of yours”. Mother Teresa of Calcutta was a Roman Catholic nun and founder of the Missionaries of Charity, to care for the most destite of Indian society. In 1952 Mother Teresa opened the Nirmal Hriday (Pure Heart) Home for Dying Destitutes in Calcutta. She and her fellow nuns took in dying Indians off the streets of Calcutta and brought them to this home to care for them during the days before they died, so that they might be able to die in peace and with dignity. In addition she worked with and cared for lepers. Mother Teresa expanded her work by creating a network of 569 missions in 120 nations. Today over 5000 sisters, brothers, and volunteers run approximately 500 centers worldwide, feeding 500,000 families and helping 90,000 lepers every year. For her work she was awarded many honors. For example she was awarded the Pope John XXIII Peace Prize in 1971, and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
A visit with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta describes Suzanne Kellogg’s journey to Calcutta, Mother Teresa’s welcoming spirit, and her own discoveries made in each of the homes run by the Missionaries of Charity, including Prem Daan, Dumd Dum, Titigarh, and Nirmal Hriday. Kellogg documents her journey, sharing her own observations of Calcutta and the work of the Missionaries of Charity. Kellogg begins her article by describing her introduction to Calcutta and Mother Teresa. When she first arrived Mother Teresa was waiting for her, welcoming her to Calcutta.
The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.”- Mother Teresa. Another beautiful act of a humble nun, was her main philosophy of the poor, and how all of us are spiritually poor in some way. Though, her philosophy could be taken one of two ways, she still had respect for the rich and kindness for the poor. Some say Mother Teresa was a saint, others would say she resembled a kind hearted individual, unfortunately, people thought she was abusive towards poor children, but as this was made very clear that she isn't a hospital but rather a home- and to provide a home, she also trained abandoned infants. Was this impartial poor or rich people? Was there really any form of rank in Mother Teresa?
