MONOFILAMENT
Monofilament has long been the line of choice of many bass anglers jerkbait system and for good reason. Monofilament stretches and bass are notorious for swiping halfheartedly at a jerk bait and this stretch helps keep from ripping those needle sharp hook points out of the bass resulting in either a lost fish as you fight it or more times than not a missed strike as the hooks pull free upon the hook set. The stretch of monofilament can also contribute to the action of the jerkbait giving it a very erratic action as you jerk your rod tip. Sometimes the violent side to side action is what the bass want and monofilament can really help create that presentation. Monofilament floats and there are times when monofilament will help keep your jerkbait suspended in the water column. A perfect example of this is when making short casts with a jerkbait over shallow grass. Monofilament can help you keep your jerkbait just above the grass enticing bass to come up and strike. You can even

Often you need a long cast because the water is clear or the bass want to look at your bait a little longer before striking and this is normal in clear water situations. While fluorocarbon does cast well this isn’t the reason for using it on long casts. The real reason for fluorocarbon on long cast is its next attribute, low stretch. With fluorocarbon you get less stretch in the line and this is important when setting the hook on those long casts. Oftentimes bass will bury themselves into heavy grass and are just too shallow to get in there and catch them with a flipping stick. This is a time when a shallow running jerkbait will lure those big bass out of the grass and when this happens long casts are needed to not only get your bait to the productive sections of the grass flat but to also cover lots of water which will increase your chances of running across a good limit of
When it comes to bass fishing techniques, there is a plethora of information out there that can be confusing for the beginning angler to sort through. By understanding just a few basic techniques, you can cut through all of the information and get the fundamental knowledge that you need in order to successfully catch your first bass. Then as you gain experience, you will be able to build upon the basics that you have learned to become an expert bass fisherman.
Bass fishing, at present, is considered as America’s number one freshwater sport, its industry is in fact seventy percent higher in growth compared to other types of fishing activities. Bass is a fish that belongs to the Serranidae family or sea basses and the Centrarchidae or the black basses. This family of perchlike fishes are large and oblong with compressed bodies that dwell in warm and temperate seas throughout
Fly rods are drastically different from spinning rods. Fly rods can be as big a 12 feet long. The longer the rod they farther you can cast. Fly rods are categorized into weight classes. These weight classes determine the sizes and the weight of the rod; the weights range from a 0-weight, all the way to a 14-weight rod; 0 being the smallest and 14 being the biggest; the lower the number on the rod the lighter the rod; they are also more flexible than longer rods; the average trout fisherman uses somewhere between a 3-weight to a 5-weight rod, depending on the size of fish they are trying to catch (Jardine 53-59). Catching a larger fish on a smaller weight rod takes practice, in that fly rods are very delicate. Fly rods will break very easily if too much pressure is put on the tip of the rod, but if used properly will last a lifetime (Jardine 53). On the other hand, spinning rods are quite sturdy. Most all spinning rods are in the six to eight-foot length. Longer rods are typically stiffer than shorter rods. Spinning rods and fly rods come in three different actions: slow, medium, and fast. Slow action rods are more flexible towards the middle of the rod; medium action rods are a less flexible in the middle and start bending three-fourths of the way up the rod fast action rods are stiff most of the way up the rod and are flexible at about the last two feet of the rod (Jardine 53). Ana-Mauríne Lara’s Erzulie’s Skirt positions the female body as the scene where lives are interconnected across history and as a dissertation of the human condition. Her protagonists, Micaela and Miriam, tell a story of love, struggle, and survival that echoes the historical significance of slavery and the Caribbean middle passage across time and space. Divided into several sections based on time and location, one particular period in Lara’s novel connects Micaela and Miriam’s experiences most closely with slavery as a whole. After a voyage across the Mona Strait as an attempt to escape from the conditions in the Dominican Republic, they find themselves captured, trapped in a brothel, and forced into prostitution. Many parallels can be drawn to interpret Lara’s use of the brothel as a metaphor for the slave ships used to travel across the original Middle Passage, including the comparable use of people as commodities, the specific imagery and language Lara uses, the historical narrative presented at the beginning of each section, and the larger themes in which identities were simultaneously stripped by oppression and also preserved within the context of community and spirituality.
Conclusively and strongly stressed to the naive freshwater fisherman, freshwater fishing can shockingly differ from saltwater fishing. Successful freshwater fishing is allowed by simpler and more practical means, including a wider range of lure selections, limp and simple line, and the lightest of gear. It has minimal demands on fishermen and equipment. Saltwater fishing, on the other hand, surely does not.
The graph in figure 16.18 does not have any cycles and therefore it is not in a deadlock state. However, connecting T28 to T27 will create a cycle and thus a deadlock state. Each transaction (T26, T27 and T28) will now be dependent each other because one transaction will have a lock on sources that will be needed by the next transaction and so on. Deadlocks should be prevented. Mechanisms should be put in place to detect deadlocks and to correct them as soon as
This freshwater fish is most commonly known as a game fish. “The largemouth bass is America’s favorite game fish” (The Behavior and Habits of Largemouth Bass). Originally it was found only East of the Mississippi river and South of the Great Lakes. It is recognizable by the olive green coloring accompanied by a dark stripe on each side. Their upper jaw does not stretch nearly as far as their lower jaw, which is the most distinguishing characteristic between them and the smallmouth bass. They average anywhere from three to ten pounds but can get up to twenty-two pounds. This water bound creature is known as the largemouth bass. This fish is a popular game fish because of its vicious strike on prey or lures. They strike just about anything that moves which is why there are so many lures for fishing including jigs, spinners, spoons, crank baits, soft plastics and more. As the season changes, the large mouth bass changes as well in its activities such as feeding and breeding. A threat to the large mouth population is LMBV, which stands for largemouth bass virus. Given that the largemouth bass is coldblooded, water temperature is a major concept between life and death. The effect of temperature on the largemouth bass varies depending on the different weather patterns of each season.
The reel on the left is the simpler design. That design has a stationary spindle and a bar that rotates around it to collect the line. On most models the drag works by a screw on the top of the spindle that applies pressure on the spindle to increase or decrease the friction to allow the spindle to spin if the fish applies enough force to overcome the friction. The problem with this design is that once the fish breaks the static friction the resistance to the fish pulling out line decreases and it is very difficult to change while fighting a fish.
As we all know speed is awesome, and it doesn’t stop with fly fishing. With fly fishing you want speed. Speed will help you gain distance. The faster you make your strokes the farther your line is able to extend and go. You need to start your cast off strong not weak to continue going strong. You need to acceleration at the beginning of your cast to get speed. Most of your acceleration comes from your wrist being at your shoulder to the tip of your rod being almost all the way extended (See picture
There are many different opinions about the differences between faith and reason. Traditionally viewed differences between reason and faith are that reason is something that requires empirical, factual evidence while faith relies merely on, well, faith. For something to have reason it must have some kind of factual evidence to make it true, or at least very good sound reasoning to believe that whatever it is, is factual. Faith is far from something that attains empirical evidence, faith usually relies on personal accounts which are usually of mystical content. Many philosophers have different opinions about how the two can coexist; some say under no circumstances at all, while others claim they can justify each other, and some claim faith is reason alone. Some philosophers claim that believing in God is an obvious choice by the claim that just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there like Blaise Pascal. Blasé Pascal and Clifford offer two completely different standpoints on the role of reason and faith.
Throughout the short story “Sheila Mant,” the boy must decide between the bass and Sheila. First off, he could pick the bass. One reason to pick the bass is because he automatically took his fishing gear with on the canoe. It says in the story, “Automatically, without thinking about it, I mounted my Mitchell reel on my Pflueger spinning rod and stuck it in the stern” (Wetherell
The distance that a fishing lure or bait can be cast is directly related to the length of the fishing rod and the weight of the lure, bait and any additional weights. Casting is necess...
Some players perform with the sides of one, two, or three fingers, especially for walking bass lines and slow tempo ballads, because this is supposed to create a stronger and more solid tone. Some players use the more nimble tips of the fingers to play fast-moving solo passages or to pluck lightly for quiet tunes. And, using amplification gives the player control over the tone of the instrument, because the amplifiers equalize and control while accentuating certain frequencies or de-accentuating some frequencies often referred to as the high frequencies, so that there is less finger noise. The electric bass player can play all of the same types of bass lines played by the double bass. Moreover, due to the design of the electric bass, it is more practical to play fast- paced bass lines that would be impossible on an upright bass. Thus, after creating the electric bass, more bassists began to switch over from double bass the electric bass in order to vary in sounds while keeping the jazz rhythm going for the remainder of the instruments. For example, an electric bassist can play a bassline completely composed of rapid, syncopated sixteenth
Unfortunately, the strength of braided line is not always an advantage as it can be difficult to cut and can be dangerous if not handled properly. The lack of stretch on braided lines is another issue, especially when trolling, as is its decreased abrasion resistance compared to monofilament. In addition, tying knots requires a lot more skill with braided lines and since it is not as clear as monofilament you often need to use leaders otherwise fish will see the line.
There have been many varied opinions offered about its use, some Anglers even suggesting that carp are somehow put off by its smell,- That's something that I feel stems from pure paranoia and not based on any facts!
