Monkey Tree
One day I went outside in my backyard to play, but my back yard is full of pikeys so I wore tennis shoes, a long sleeve shirt , and long pants. I went outside and climbed the tree that we call our Monkey Tree because my sister and I just really love that tree. We would climb on it all the time. My sister and I continued to climb the tree. When I was about to jump down, my dog got in the way. I the proceeded to throw a stick to distract him. Then, of course, right as I jumped down he came back. I fell on top of him, and I fell into the pickers. If it wasn't for me catching myself with my hands, my face would have been full of pickers.I got up crying, and my sister helped me to the door. Savanna opened the door with me still
The gorillas live mainly in coastal West Africa in the Congo, Zaire, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon. Gorillas live in the rain forest. They usually live on the ground but build nest in trees to sleep in. Gorilla troops keep a 15-20 square mile range which often overlaps the range of other troops. There are three different kinds of gorillas. The eastern lowland gorilla the western lowland and the mountain gorilla. They are herbivores and eat only wild celery, roots, tree bark pulp, fruit, stems of many plants and bamboo shoots. They spend nearly half their day eating.
Literary devices are used by Sandra Cisneros throughout the vignette “The Monkey Garden”, to highlight the mood of the piece. For instance, Cisneros uses personification to encompass feelings of mysticality when she says things disappeared in the Garden, “as if the garden itself ate them.”(95) Personification was used by Cisneros to plant Esperanza’s humanlike description of the garden, while creating a sense of mystery and enchantment in the reader. Similarly, Cisneros describes how the tree Esperanza was near “wouldn’t mind if she lay down” (97). In this section, the tree is personified as a friend Esperanza can lay with. The fictional and humanlike style that the situation is described in further accentuates the mystical mood Cisneros is
One day a few kids were walking down the road so I thought it would be cool if I told him to jump into a river, I even knew that he could swim, so he did. When he started to drown I realized that he could die so I jumped in and got him out. He forgot that I told him to do it and was thanking me for saving him.
“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.”(McGill). The short story The Monkey’s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs has many instances of characters not giving their full attention when somebody was attempting to speak to them. When the sergeant came to the home of the White’s and showed them the monkey’s paw, the White’s did not listen to the sergeants warning of the monkey’s paw of it bringing great consequences whenever they made a wish. Mrs. White did not listen to Mr. White when he tried to explain why they should not wish for their son to be alive. Mrs. White rushed down the stairs ignoring Mr. White’s warnings of opening the door to let their son into the home. Listening more to people other than someone’s self is an ideal that has been lost in society.
Throughout situations and research conducted by not only Robert Sapolsky or Jane Goodman, but from many other credited sources, we can blatantly see the, if not identical, similarities between the two species of humans and baboons. The most apparent likewise characteristics of this can be read and documented in Professor Sapolsky’s book, A Primate’s Memoirs. Sapolsky, who spent hundreds if not thousands, of hours studying these Savanna Baboons, sheds a vast insight into ideas of social dominance, mating strategies, instinctual prowess, community settings, hygiene, and reform of an entire generation; many of which can be unknowingly seen directly in the common occurrence of a humans daily life.
It’s hard to believe in 2015 that there are parts of the world yet to be explored, but a new species of monkey discovered in Peru demonstrates just how much of planet earth we still haven’t seen. This discovery sheds light on not only what exists untouched in the most remote parts of the World, but also what we may lose without ever knowing thanks to human development. This entire species and others like it have the potential to disappear forever without ever being discovered if conservation efforts are not enhanced.

One nice and warm summer day my father took me to a man. He calls himself Dr. Gordon. Dr. Gordon wanted me to think that I wasn't a dolphin, and this idea was insane. So I refused. I wasnt going to give up my dream, my reality, just because some person I dont know wants me to. This went on for about three years every single week, and I hated every single second of it. So I ran, I know I was 14, and I knew this wasn't appropriate for someone my age. Who knows it could just be Dr. Gordon's lies. Well anyways I ran, I didn't look back, but I saw him again. The man, and he looked at me and said "Come here", and so I
A group of researchers in the Republic of the Congo have discovered an adventure of a lifetime with the finding of a type of African monkey thought to be extinct after not being seen in the wild after the 1970s. Now, they are sending back the first ever pictures of the Red Colobus monkey for the world to see.
This one time, I was coming home from school and I found one of my neighbors cows in the middle of giving birth. She was having trouble so I tried several times to pull the baby cow out but I couldn’t. So I took my pants off and tied one leg around the calf’s head and the other around its neck. The calf soon comes out but then the mother was still in trouble. She is having trouble breathing. I shoved my hand way down the cow’s throat and I find a goiter. I try to pull the ball out, but instead she bites me and drags me all over the countryside.
In modern society, the birth of an infant is a highly demanding time during a woman’s lifetime. The infant is need of diligent care, feeding, and teaching to reach full adulthood and self-dependence. However, for human’s fellow primates in the wild, their infants are subjected to dangers from intergroup violence, starvation, or environmental dangers that their mother can not always protect them from. For the ancestral hominids and primates, the act of grandmothering, attending to the needs of child other than your own, became an essential behavior for the evolution of the modern human and other primates. I predict that the act of grandmothering permitted the expansion of individual lifespans after fertility for female primates and their relative
I went to the Oklahoma City Zoon and I became interested in the gorilla’s exhibit because of the different facts they had all over the room. Gorillas are similar to human in many ways. Although many people hate to think of it that way, it really is true. The zoo did a great job at informing the visitors about the gorillas within the exhibit and also the different characteristics all of them share in general. This exhibit provided probably the most information out of any other exhibit. I thought I would share what I learned and the notes I took from my visit to the zoo.

I was once driving a yellow Cadillac when I notice a hollowing collie. When I first noticed it I thought he was hurt so I pulled over. When I got out the car I instantly started smelling a smoke smell. As I approached the dog he ran off into the woods. I started chasing after him when I realized the forest was on fire. I had no idea what to do, so I then ran back to my Cadillac and dialed 911. I told them where I was and that we needed help immediately. They then arrived 10 minutes later.
One day in the midst of summer, my friend Mike and I got off from a hard day of work and were on our way to the mall. While at work we had planned to meet a few people there. I was going to be seeing my friend Jessica who I had not talked to in years. Before leaving, we stopped off at our houses, took showers, and got ready. As I anxiously waited on the stairs for his car to roll into the driveway, my mom said, “Be careful and do not drive like an idiot.” I obviously said alright and she was on her way. Minutes later I see my friend Mike pull into the driveway. I slipped my feet into my shoes and got in his car. We were almost to the mall when his phone rang. He picked it up and said, “Hello?” It was my mom and she wanted to speak to me. Upon putting the phone to my ear she told me that I had to come home right away. She said that my dad had just gotten into a car crash and that I had to come home and watch my sister. I did not know how to break the news to Mike, that what we were anticipating all day would not happen. He was upset, but he understood what was going on. I came home thinking it was the same old same old; he had gotten hit by a drunk driver, the car got totaled, and he was fine.
