Imagine if millions of kids were acting like celebrities today. It would be a disaster, right? Except this is not just a nightmare, this is a horrible reality. Boom! Justin Bieber is caught drunk driving and Miley Cyrus is twerking it up. Then out of nowhere all of their teen fans are copying them, demeaning themselves, and worst of all they just won’t stop. “Monkey say, monkey do” is a common saying used to describe baby's behavior but it is not just toddlers who imitate people invariably. Whether or not superstars want this to happen the reality is that they have a colossal influence on kids all over the globe and the weight is on their shoulders to provide a prime one. Popular celebrities are looked up to by many people all over

They have their actions constantly copied no matter what they do. The fact that social media today is a hawk that sees everything is extremely eerie. As well as once a superstar does something irregular it is posted all over the globe, and viewed by millions of people is just terrifying. Even worse is that these small pictures change an immense amount of lives, making kids either superior versions of themselves or worse versions of themselves. With the smallest, worst acts of celebrities will be changing the behavior of an enormous number of teens that are looking up to someone for guidance. Knowing that it is impossible for people to not hear about the actions of stars makes me shiver. Also, after a while of celebrities degrading themselves and harming their followers through their dumb actions the strong willed, intelligent people will even start to collapse to the corruptness because of loneliness. No matter how flattering and genuine people are, everyone is susceptible to the terrible influences of people such as Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber. After all, everyone has feelings and when the smart become the only people not acting like a psycho through the influence of celebrities their loneliness forces them to
Part of that is because some people’s perspectives of celebrities allow them think as if they’re on a pedestal and are more important than the average human. When people vision these celebrities as these quintessential people it enable’s their own thoughts and opinions on the celebrity. It’s like brainwashing, these celebrities only show the media what they want, which allows them to put up a whole façade and mask who they truly are. During the O.J Simpson trial it opened more people’s minds to visualize the concept that celebrities have the ability to be just as deranged as the average person, and that we are all equal, but the only difference that’s separates us is the fact that their job is in the lime
These judgements are made because celebrities that do not do try at all to get to where they are now or do not do what other celebrities did. Some celebrities are only famous because of the looks and because the person that they are together in a relationship with is a really famous celebrity. The assumptions and visualization that are made by people about celebrities wearing fancy, expensive clothes and having houses that look like mansions are basically true. When an assumption about celebrities is made by a person or fan about the star it is usually a positive statement and most of the time people make a good statement because they have experience meeting the celebrity or it is seen in the internet. On an online video created by Becca Frucht, a reporter and associate producer, it shows how the celebrity and actor Channing Tatum, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Andrew Garfield surprises the fans by disguising as another person and by putting on makeup. This action made by celebrities can show that not all celebrities do what they do for fame, because these actors like to make and see fans happy. When a person on social media talks bad about a celebrity that have never met but do it become of the things that are said by others and believe
Why is that all blogs or media sites only pay attention to the bad behavior? We see videos of famous people getting drunk, doing drugs, and even being disrespectful. Eventually, we see this domino effect on young girls, they start being rebellious, start to talk back to their parents even go to parties and drink. Nowadays, celebrities are seen as role models to these kids. What kind of example are these celebrities providing to teenagers when they can barely control their life. Role models are supposed to be someone you admire, someone you look up to and try and follow their examples. Not someone who lives a fake life and you barely know. As stated in an article called “Why this generation is so completely obsessed with the idea of Celebrity” Adam Pliskin explains the real reason to why we follow celebrities as much as we do. This is because we secretly want fame ourselves.
This obsession with celebrities i belave is one of the largest problems facing america today. and if the situation does not get under control our country will soon be completely lost in the drama and hysteria that is our celebrity obsessions.
This sort of behavior is constant over time. Celebrities today are posted and paraded all over TV and magazines, no matter what they do. Justin Beiber was caught drunk driving, stealing property, and many more crimes.... ... middle of paper ... ...
The deception of media consumers allows for the abuse of economic infrastructures of society. An obsession with celebrities’ lives passifies ordinary people in accepting the stratification of the elite businesses and the ordinary citizens. Though pseudo-events and celebrity worship may not be exactly complementary, the similarities of both leaves the public to be utterly vulnerable unless they begin to critically think for themselves.
The public has been able to have access into celebrities’ private lives thanks to the “paparazzi”. Definitely, celebrities will always be in front of the camera. It comes with the frame. Nevertheless, it does not justify photographing the lives of people at the expense of their privacy. Society always wants to keep an eye on their favorite celebrities’ lives.
So many young people go into the entertainment business. Most of them do not know that without a support system to keep them grounded and stable their mental development can be compromised. The society that we place so high in our culture and deem worthy of such high praise, eat our children alive. They grow too fast, have to defend themselves constantly, and are watched around the clock. As a society, we must take a look at what we are doing to the people in the entertainment industry.
Over the last few decades celebrity and fame has changed dramatically, from Alexander the Great to Kim Kardashian. Talent and achievements no longer play a huge role when it comes to our celebrities. “Much modern celebrity seems the result of careful promotion or great good looks or something besides talent and achievement” (Epstein2) with that being said celebrity-creation has blossomed into an industry of its own. Keeping up with all the gossips from breaking up to hooking up, law suits and drama many might come to an agreement that celebrity culture is starting to be the great new art form in our new generation and that it ...
In the novel Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, the main character, Lou Clark, struggles with the obstacles life throws at her throughout the book. To begin, she is laid off from her old job and has to take up the position for a caretaker. Lou took the position, and although nervous at first, ends up falling in love with the man whose name is Will. She soon finds out that the man she has fallen madly in love with has planned on killing himself in an assisted suicide facility within six months. She tries to get him to change his mind, but does not succeed. There is one characteristic about Lou that affects her throughout the entire novel. Her character flaw is her hesitance towards things and fear of change which, in turn, causes her to miss out many
After observing and researching all the sources portraying celebrities I have came into a conclusion that todays society it seems like all we want is to be accepted and we tend to look at other people and judge. Its not right, we all are different and thats what makes the world go round. It would be a pretty boring world if we were all the same. Celebrities deal with this everyday, I think the paparazzi know more about some celebrities lives than they actually do. They judge them for who they are and what they do, it is not right nor fair.
According to the article “The Effects of Celebrity Role Models on Kids and Teens” by Eliza Martinez,“Many celebrities do not make a secret of alcohol or drug abuse and the glamorization of dying due to an overdose in the media might make your child feel that using these substances is acceptable.” The fans see the celebrities’ work and not the person themself. This is the main reason celebrities make such terrible role models. The fans will idolize them, but they don’t know what the celebrity is like on a personal level. They don’t know the opinion of the celebrity on certain issues. If they did and they agreed with the celebrity, then there is a whole other reason to look up to this person. If a fan disagreed, then they could still like their work and just agree to disagree, but it will never be like that. It is no one’s fault, but that is the main reason celebrities aren’t good role models. That is why parents, siblings, friends, other family, and even fictional characters work as role models. The people that look up to them know their role model personally and therefore know whether or not they agree with the role model’s
We are part of a generation that is obsessed with celebrity culture. Celebrities are distinctive. Media and consumers alike invented them to be a different race of super beings: flawless, divine and above all the real moral world. In a 1995 New York Times article “In contrast, 9 out of 10 of those polled could think of something
...ildren, and most of their time must be enjoyed in creating their own private space. During our childhood, we build the seeds of creativity that will eventually determine our personality. And during adulthood, we always look back to the wonders of our youth. Show business is very hard for anyone, particularly for kids. Children do not belong in the entertainment industry. Young stars often complain about a stolen childhood, the pressure they have to face at a young age forcing them to mature fast, and the risks of exposure to dirty show business while still an innocent playful child. Celebrities who were exposed to the limelight at a tender age become scarred for life by early success and tend to compensate for the childhood they were deprived of during their later years in life.
Much of today’s society seems obsessed on what actors/actress, athletes, and music artist are wearing, eating, who they are marrying, dating, where they are vacationing, what affairs they are having or have had, and how they live their everyday lives. What’s so interesting about this obsession is as a society we are implacable and often place celebrities on a pedestal, only to destroy them when they are illusive or promiscuous. Media outlets are swift to report when celebrities are in trouble but quickly forget all their accomplishments. It’s as if we want them to be perfect but once they are associated with a scandal we embark on destroying their reputation and character. Should society hold celebrities to higher standards just because they are paid millions for endorsements and a craft they worked hard to perfect? Do we as a society have the right to castigate celebrities when they misbehave? Do celebrities have the right to become livid when they are focused on for their immoral behavior? Do they love the media attention only when it benefits them? Before we can answer the above questions, would we, furthermore, can we live our life as a celebrity if given the opportunity?
