Some people think back to middle school and say it was the boring school years. However, for me it was great, and one class made my experience even better. That class was Ms. Royall’s home economics class. She is well-known for her monkey bread, and I fell in love the first time eating it. In her class, the first thing we learned was how to make monkey bread. We would make it all the time, and would always fuss about someone getting more than the other. It is a sweet, delicious dessert that is easy to make. This is now one of my favorite desserts, and I would like to share it with you so you can make it.
When Ms. Royall knew we were on the way to her class, she would preheat the oven to 350 degrees. There was only eight of us in her class

at that period. As soon as we got in the main building where her class was located, the smell of the sweet, delicious monkey bread hit us right in the face. My friend Shakera looked at me and said, “It is monkey bread day!” When we got in Ms. Royall’s class she said, “Everybody take off your jackets and go wash your hands.” After everybody got back from doing that, she said, “The first thing you have to do is get all of your materials before you start, so everything will be right at hand.” She split us into two groups, gave each group a recipe, and had us to get all of the materials that we needed. The materials and ingredients we gathered were three cans of refrigerated biscuits, a half of a cup of granulated white sugar, a knife, a bowl, a nine by thirteen glass dish, and three teaspoons of ground cinnamon.
For the topping, we got one stick of margarine, a pan, and one cup of packed brown sugar. Ms. Royall would always tell us to make sure we read the materials that we needed correctly and got the right measurements. You could be thinking you were making something delicious, but with the wrong amount of ingredients you could be making a mess. It would then be time for the hard part, all of the directions and steps we had to follow …show more content…
closely. First, we took the can of refrigerated biscuits and cut each biscuits into one-fourths pieces. Opening up the can of biscuits would scare us every time. BOOM! The boys in the class would always curse, like it scared them that bad. Then, we would mix the cinnamon and white sugar in a bowl together. At that point, we coated the one-fourth pieces of biscuits well and put them into a nine by thirteen glass dish. We would then put that to the side and make the topping for the monkey bread. The week before making monkey bread we did some activities on safety, because we had to use the stove in order to make it. When we were using the stove Ms. Royall said, “Pay attention to what you are doing and remember the safety rules.” For the topping we would start by melting margarine and brown sugar in a pan on the stove. As soon as the brown sugar and margarine mixture came to a boil, we then poured the mixture over the biscuits pieces and put it in the oven. It would then bake for twenty-five to thirty minutes. We then had to wait! It seemed like that was the longest thirty minutes of our lives. The boys keep looking at the stoves wanting to open them, but Ms. Royall said, “NO!” When the thirty minutes were finally up we were all so happy. Everybody started jumping up and down because we all knew what time it was. Then Ms. Royall got both groups monkey bread out the oven, because she didn’t want anyone to get burnt. After taking it out the oven, she immediately started pulling the pieces apart with the spoon. She got eight pieces of aluminum foil and tried to put the same amount on each piece. Of course, some people started fussing about someone having more than them. When everyone started eating, it was so hot and delicious.
Nobody was saying anything! That was the quietest it had been the whole period. She then knew the one thing that would make us quiet. It had been a long and good period, but the bell had rang and it was time to go home. Everybody loved Ms. Royall’s monkey bread, so when we got on the bus we had to sneak and eat it. When someone found out you had it, they would want some. It was too good to be sharing it. Sorry! In Ms. Royall’s class she taught all of her students about life and how you can make it in life. She also taught us how to make my favorite dessert. I hope you are now able to make it when you have that sweet
tooth.
Kool-aid was invented by a man named Edwin Perkins He was born in the state of Iowa but he eventually went to live in Nebraska. At about 1927 he invented Kool-aid He was inspired by the drink Fruit smack, but because he wanted to lower the cost of shipping he removed all fluids from the drink. This dry powder eventually became Kool-aid. However Kool-aid did not always go by the same name It was originally Kool-Ade but because Ade refers to juice he had to change it tho the name it has today. Eventually Kool-aid got their own mascot the cool-aid man (He often broke through walls), They also had a comic with 7 issues, along with the Atari 2600 came the “Adventures of Kool-aid Man”. Kool-aid can still be bought today and has manny flavors
Lemry tells about how is going in CAT class and Mautz is telling her to ask the teacher, Ms. Lemry. “Tell you what, Mr. Mautz. From the creation of the twinkie through today, it has been a symbol of American history and still continues to be.
It’s hard to believe in 2015 that there are parts of the world yet to be explored, but a new species of monkey discovered in Peru demonstrates just how much of planet earth we still haven’t seen. This discovery sheds light on not only what exists untouched in the most remote parts of the World, but also what we may lose without ever knowing thanks to human development. This entire species and others like it have the potential to disappear forever without ever being discovered if conservation efforts are not enhanced.

Bruegger's Bagels was founded in 1983 in Troy, New York by Nord Brue and Mike Dressell. They were the first people bringing New York-style bagels to neighborhoods all over North America. To make their recipe and baking process perfect,Brue and Dressell learnt with a professional bagel baker from New York City for two years and half. And they make the bagel have a crisp shell and soft, chewy center. Until that time, bagels were known mostly as a local food and not recognized outside of New York. At that time, less than 30 percent of Americans had ever tasted a bagel.

It wasn’t until World War 2, however, that hazelnuts found their way into the bakery treat that is known today as Nutella. Due to a shortage of cocoa, Pietro Ferrero used hazelnuts in his bakery products because they were plentiful in his hometown in Italy (8). Nutella was first produced in block form, but was later turned into a spreadable paste. Nutella spread to America in 1983 and soon became popular worldwide.

Bonnie the secretary introduced me to my new teacher. As Mrs. Bonnie was leaving the room, my new teacher Mrs. Evaheart introduced me to the class. As I stared at the class I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. I wanted to go back to my old school where I had friends, knew almost everyone, a place where I didn’t feel lonesome, a place anywhere but here. As I saw each and every one of my new classmates faces the utter dread that I felt slowly began to fade as I saw a familiar face. Seeing one of my former friends give me a renewed hope that maybe being in this school won’t be so bad after
