Human trafficking is modern slavery. Human trafficking is a serious problem but affects our home, Las Vegas the most. It’s such a problem, because people fail to recognize it, and don’t understand the severity of the crime. Human trafficking is where children, teens, and adults are prostituted for money. Some are forced to have sex. Human trafficking occurs all over the world, but its effect in Nevada is devastating. There have been 2,229 victims of human trafficking that have been saved since 1994.

There are currently 27 million victims world wide, according to the Polaris Project. Human trafficking has become a big business world wide. Human trafficking is a crime, but it is also very hard to track. One problem that appears more often than not is Backpage.com. Backpage has made it easier for these commercial sex trades to happen in hotel rooms rather than on the street corner. Although Backpage is a huge contributor to this problem, there are plenty of other cites that do the same.

In the state of Nevada, human trafficking can be treated like murder. The definition of human trafficking in Nevada is, “the trade of people who are then usually forced to work as laborers or prostitutes.” Traffickers usually hook their victims with the promise of a better life. Human trafficking is considered to be a federal crime, according to eh 13th amendment. Human trafficking cases are the hardest cases to defend. In the state of Nevada there are countless serious charges pressed.

We have the power to end human trafficking. Blue Blind Fold helps to raise awareness of this crime, in hopes to put and end to it completely. Blue Blind Fold also deals with Human Smuggling and Terrorist Travel Facilities. Blue Blind Fold tries to get eh point across that there are strengths in numbers and we have those numbers. Crimestoppers has endorsed Blue Blind Fold as a global brand on human trafficking. Crimestoppers supports over 1000 projects across the world.

A partenering project for Blue Blind Fold is the Blue Heart Champaign. Blue Heart tries to convey how the victims feel. When a victim is being trafficked or is on the brink of being trafficked, they are usually depressed and distant.
