When I listened to the song ‘Mocking bird’ by Eminem, I was deeply touched by the lyrics. The lyrics show me how much that Eminem wants to be a good father and protect his daughter. These words are his apology to his daughter. They are surprising coming from such a forceful rapper, but that’s why these words have so much more significance.
From the simple lyrics, my first impression of Eminem was that he was very scared of losing his daughter. He knew he had done lots of terrible things, but in the lyrics he demonstrates that he is still trying to give his daughter the best life he can: ‘Hailie I know you miss your mom and I know you miss your dad. Well I’m gone, but I’m trying give you the life that I never had, I can see you’ re sad, even

In China, we had a specific word call ‘Fu Zhong Ru Shan’, it’s mean that the dad had the responsibility and love as much as the heavy mountain. My dad had not a same family situation like Eminem, but from psychology, the situation was same. I was lacked in ‘love”. For Eminem’s family, he marries fast, and divorced fast. His daughter also lacked in ‘love’ as well. My dad did not take care of me much and I really disappointed or hated my dad before. Remember that I got a car accident in Vietnam, but when he known that I was injured my dad gives up everything including his own business, just came hospital to take care of me. I felt love at that time. Finally my dad known we need him, we miss him. We don’t need money; the most important thing for our children was something call ‘Love”. I like this song, because from this song, it remained me of how daddy loves me. He tried to give our family the better economic environment.
From the title ‘mocking Bird’ we known Mocking bird maybe just a little toy or something. But it show love, dad will do anything for you just want to see your smile. “I'll do anything for you to see you smile. And if that mockingbird don't sing and that ring don't shine, I'mma break that birdie's neck, I'll go back to the jeweler who sold it to ya. And make him eat every carat don't fuck with dad (ha ha)”. I don’t know how to describe that feeling of love,
“I’d rather you shoot at tin cans in the backyard, but I know you’ll go after the birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mocking bird.” Atticus Finch recites these lines to his two children, Jem and Scout after he gives them air-rifles for Christmas. Scout is curious, as this is the first time that she has ever heard her father refer to anything as a sin, Scout asks Miss Maude what Atticus meant by this. Miss Maude tells Scout that mocking birds don’t rip up people’s garden’s or annoy them in any way, all they do is play beautiful music for us to listen to.
The poem is written in the father’s point of view; this gives insight of the father’s character and
In my home, mother was the disciplinarian. Daddy never said much to me unless I had done something bad, and then most of the time, he would just tell my mother. I could probably count on both hands the number of times he told me that he loved me. I guess he assumed I knew. He was a quiet man who did not like to talk about his feelings. I always took what few things Daddy said to heart because, to me, he was extremely intelligent and knew everything.
Throughout the emotional lyrics of Tupac Shakur’s song “Dear Mama”, he constantly reveals trial and tribulation. Shakur sympathetically expresses the obstacles he endures due to the undying support of his mother who displays sacrificial love. He explains the abnormal circumstances in which his family undergoes such as poverty, single parenting, and even feelings of hopelessness. Shakur characterizes his mother as a heroic figure, who outshines the negative aspects of his life by providing the essentials only a mother could both physically and morally instill in her child. The artist brilliantly captivates his audience by revealing personal information from his childhood in which many can relate to.
The only one to understand him was his mother. To her, he could do no wrong. Her love was unconditional. This has been a strong mutual love between him and his mother. He often blamed himself for his parents not being together and his father not being a part of his life. His father only existed from a financial standpoint, but not a personal level.
In “To Kill A Mockingbird”, by Harper Lee, Lee uses a quote saying “Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us” (Lee 94). Mockingbirds are portrayed as very delicate and innocent within this book, just as Boo Radley and Tom Robinson.
Who would want to kill a mockingbird that sings and keeps people at peace? Only mean and cruel people for example Bob Ewell, a drunk and abusive father. This symbol of mockingbird appears in the story many times. According to Merriam-Webster’s Middle School Dictionary a mockingbird is a songbird of the southern U.S. that is noted for the sweetness of its song and for imitations of the notes of other birds (482). The symbol of killing a blameless bird is repeated through out the story when Harper Lee describes Boo Radley, Tom Robinson, and Calpurnia. The following words of Atticus to his children explain it “…but I know you’ll go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit ‘em, but remember it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.” (Lee 90). To Kill a Mockingbird, is the expression of the mocking bird and some people as innocent victims.
Songs are one way of expressing feelings and emotion, many artist do this constantly in their music. To some it is why they make music. There are endless signs and verses that hint at many things such as problems, politics, living in racist era’s also places. I chose to focus on one main rapper and his music only. I chose to examine, review, and study a few of his songs. Kid cudi grew up in cleveland, Ohio. His father passed away when he was a young age which affected the kid ever since. He writes about living his life and having to go through many obstacles
“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird” (Lee 94). This quote, delivered in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, introduces the mockingbird which is incorporated symbolically throughout the novel. The mockingbird, in presenting its gifts of music and beauty, is the symbol of Atticus’s practice of altruism because he believes in society’s responsibility to protect those who are vulnerable and innocent.
In To Kill A Mockingbird, Mockingbirds play a small role in the plot, but convey a larger meaning. They represent many different characters throughout the book, including Tom Robinson, Scout Finch, Mr.Raymond and Boo Radley. The citizens of Maycomb saw these characters as outcasts and persecuted them. Harper Lee titled her book To Kill A Mockingbird because Tom, Mr.Raymond and Boo represent the mockingbird itself, while Scout, as the innocent character, represents the mockingbird’s song.

He states, “Scout, you never really understand people until you consider things from their point of view- until you climb into his skin and walk around in it” (39). This means how sometimes unless you are someone you can’t fully understand them and how they feeling and behaving. Atticus explains to Scout that caring about others will help Scout understand them more. It will help Scout further understand why something may be happening. Also, Miss Maudie also explains how the Mockingbirds in the trees help further understand life lessons. Miss Maudie states, “Mockingbirds don’t do nothing but make music for us to enjoy… they don’t do one thing but sing our hearts out for us” (119). This means how in life, people shouldn’t naturally hate someone or something. People need to be able to care and have empathy for others. People in the book become the characteristic of mockingbirds. For example, Boo Radley. Boo doesn’t do anything to annoy or harm people, but the children decide to
The lyrics of his song are filled with emotional language. In one instance, he argues with his daughter and tells Hailie that he is leaving one last time. Hailie however refuses to hear this statement. She cries out to her daddy that he always lies when he says he will not go anymore (Eminem 1). Also, Eminem has used appeals when he fills the song with emotional examples. This is because he writes in another instance that Hailie lashes out angry that he had lied to her again. "I followed you Daddy, you told me that you weren't leavin'/"You lied to me Dad, and now you make Mommy sad” (Verse 3, Line 9-10). She tells him that his lies made mommy sad. Hence, they had come to a decision to leave him behind and go their own way. His choices had proven to them that he loved his fans more than he loved his family (Eminem 1). These lines evoke emotional responses of sympathy and empathy from the singer’s audience to enable the audience to understand his dilemma. It is sad to picture a family torn apart because of the choices the parents made for the
care of her, and wanted the best for his only daughter. Though his love was great, he
Drug trafficking has been a massive concern between the borders of Mexico and the U.S. “since mid 1970s” (Wyler, 1). Drug trafficking is “knowingly being in possession, manufacturing, selling, purchasing, or delivering an illegal, controlled substance” (LaMance, 1). A dynamic relationship exists amongst Columbia, Mexico, and the U.S. the informal drug trafficking economy. This growing informal drug economy leads to many individuals creating a substantial living through this undercover market. These individual drug cartels monopolizing the trafficking market are a growing problem for the U.S economy and need to be located and controlled. If this trafficking continues, the U.S. informal economy will crush the growth of legal industries. The trafficking and abuse of drugs in the U.S. affects nearly all aspects of consumer life. Drug trafficking remains a growing issue and concern to the U.S. government. The U.S. border control must find a way to work with Mexico to overpower the individuals who contribute to the drug trafficking business. This market must be seized and these individuals must be stopped.
