Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have millions upon millions of dollars in your bank account? Mitch Rapp, the main character of this story, has come a long ways from where he began. In this journal I will be explaining, predicting, and questioning the main events that have happened since the last time I wrote. Firstly, one major event that happened that I want to explain is the murder of Hurr Dorfmann. Rapp, Hurly, and Richards paid Dorfmann a very unpleasant visit that he was not expecting. When those three are together only bad things can happen. The reason their mission was to kill and extract knowledge from Dorfmann was because he was managing millions of dollars for terrorists in the Middle East. Hurley, being an old-timer …show more content…
and rule follower, developed a certain type of hate for Dorfmann.
When they arrive to Dorfmanns, they stick to plan for only seconds before the dogs tart barking and Hurley is forced to shoot them with a tranquilizer. With all that commotion Dorfmann comes outside to check, but before he could get the door open Hurley ran through, broke Dorfmanns nose, and knocked him out. When he finally wakes up, he sees Hurley standing over him with a knife. Hurley wants the codes and passwords to the accounts that belong to the terrorists and Dorfmann wasn’t saying a word. Hurley threatens him using his dog: “If you don’t open the safe, I’m going to start with your pooch’s eyes, and then his tongue, and then his nose, and then his ears, and if you still haven’t opened it by then, I’m going to shove all of it down your throat, and then I’ll start in on the second dog, and if that doesn’t get you to do it, then I’ll start in on you”(Flynn, 257”. This just shows the little amount of compassion that Hurley has for animals and human beings. …show more content…
When they finally get everything out of Dorfmann, they kill him and race out of the country to Switzerland. When the y get there they go to an old friend of Hurley’s and that’s when Rapp becomes a multi millionaire. All the money that the terrorists had is now split between the three, and is put into accounts under fake identities. Next I will be predicting.
Since the last time I have written, there have been a lot of key events that have taken place. For example, when the crew was at Hurley’s friends house, they stayed over night. Since Rapp is use to having a daily wake up call and forced to run at least 5 miles, he goes to the workout room in the mansion. Seconds after he finishes his run on the treadmill, a very beautiful lady comes in and catches him off guard and begins talking as if he were in kindergarten. It seems as if the moment he tries to talk he acts as if were drunk: “You look great . . . too, I mean, you don’t look like you need to work out . . . is what I mean”(Flynn, 298). Rapp and this girl feel a connection as soon as they both lay eyes on each other. I could possibly see Rapp having a relationship with this woman. If he did so it would fill the hole in his heart that was created when his long-time, high school girlfriend
died. Finally I will be questioning Rapp and his crew. One thing that I couldn’t seem to get the grasp of was why did they have to kill Dorfmann? The entire crew was wear masks and protective gear to make sure that there would be no trace of them. Dorfmann had a wife and was kept in the basement during this whole ordeal. When they brought her down there they were ordered not to say a single word to one another. The levels of caution were extreme: “Frau Dorfmann was blindfolded, gagged, hogtied, and shivering from fright”(Flynn, 255). Another thought that had me pondering was why didn’t the government take care of this problem? It would probably be more ethical and economically smart to have a problem this big go through the government. However, Rapp and his crew did an impeccable job making it impossible to trace back who took the money from the accounts. One last final thought that I want to end on and let you think is, how could you shoot a man that you don’t even know and leave his wife all alone for the rest of her years on earth?

What Carnegie had in mind was that the millionaire, although by definition wealthy, should never forget the relationship between his wealth and the community from which his income was derived (Lena). Overall, this brief biography on Carnegie’s climb through big business is a readable book that gives the reader historical context, and an understanding of Carnegie’s genius capitalist and entrepreneurial intellect.
So far each character seems to be adapting very well to the deserted island, but I feel that there are still more secrets to be found out from all characters especially from Ralph and Jack. What will happen between Jack and Ralph? What secrets will the characters
Kelly had us watching this man for the past month, what time he leaves his house, to what time he gets to his house. We had to know what time he went to bed to what time he was mostly alone in his mansion. His name was Charles Urschel, wealthy tycoon and businessman but to us he was just a way to get money. James Connor and I accompanied Kelly when he plotted to raid the wealthy man’s home and kidnap him for ransom money. It was a very still calm night, light breeze. It was as if I could sense the nervousness on my partners face but for Kelly I saw nothing. Just the cold, hard, terrifying look that was always on Kelly’s face unless he was with his wife. We waited...
Between the 1960s and the 1980s, the priorities of Americans shifted from a patriotic concern for the country’s welfare to a concern for self-advancement. “A 1980 study by UCLA and American Council on Education indicated that college freshmen were more interested in status, power, and money than at any time during the past 15 years. Business Management was the most popular major” (Whitley). Similarly, in the graphic novel, Sin City written by Frank Miller, wealth, power and status play an important role in the outcome of and setting of the book. The main character, Marv, is a strong, lonely man who has a personal vendetta against the most powerful man of Sin City, Cardinal Roark. Miller shines light on the culturally prevalent desire for power, status and wealth, which ocurred in the late 1970s. The purpose of this book is to show his readers, the adults of the 1990s, what kinds of mistakes and corruption occurred in the generation before them. He does this by portraying wealthy figures as all-powerful, exposing the environment that unequal distribution of wealth breeds, and he uses Marv as a figure for the audience to identify with.
