The five people you meet in heaven is a novel by Mitch Albom, this book is about Eddie a war veteran who thinks he has nothing to show and the main character who got killed on his 83rd birthday. When Eddie awaken in heaven he is taken his journey to meet five people whose life intertwined with him. The second person Eddie met is his former captain in WWII, the fourth person Eddie met is his beloved wife Marguerite, and the last person Eddie met is Tala the little girl who died because of Eddie.

The second person Eddie meets in heaven is his captain form the war. The captain shot Eddie on the leg leaving him crippled for the rest of his life. The captain told Eddie that he was the one who shot him in the leg to save him from the burning tent where Eddie remembers that he had seen a shadow running from one of the huts that he set on fire, although he never identified the figure. Eddie accepted the act of the captain when he finds out that the captain died to save him and the other soldiers. The captain fulfilled his promised that he won’t leave anyone behind even if it means for him to sacrifice his own life. Marguerite is the only happiness Eddie has in life. Eddie awakens in a room with several doors. Behind each of the doors there is a wedding from a different culture and here Eddie meets his wife, Marguerite, in one of the weddings. They spend a long period of time together, moving from one wedding to the next and catching up on all the things that they had not been able to do since Marguerite's death.
