Missy Franklin is known in the world for her talent as a swimmer. But what awards did she receive? Where did she grow up? And how did her life change after the Olympics? Most people care about who she is as an athlete, and as an Olympic medalist. But the real question is... Who is she as a person, and as an ordinary (well almost ordinary) high school student? To get to the Olympics an athlete has to have grit, and Missy Franklin has it. Missy didn’t give up and has grown up to be one of the best female swimmers in the world. First of all, Missy Franklin grew up in Centennial, Colorado, and was raised by Dick and D.A Franklin. She was born May 10th, in Pasadena, California. Missy’s full name is Melissa Jeanette Franklin. Her dad; Dick is a business executive and her mom D.A. is a doctor. Her nickname is Missy the Missile, and her dad gave her that nickname. Missy started swimming at the age of five years old.
