72.9 million Americans aged 16 and above were working hourly wages in the year 2010. The United States as the leader of the modern age should take action to increase the wealth of the minimum wage worker. The United States, is one of the economic superpowers of the world, and yet 58.8% of the workers in the United States are paid hourly. I believe that as a nation of great economic prowess, the United States should be leading the way of worker salaries and benefits. Our current Federal Minimum wage is $7.25. This by all means is a starving wage, it is so poor that the only way that it is only good for those who rent apartments in low-income areas and are not married with no children.
