Throughout human history storms have been brewed from the center of the earth and claimed the lives of millions if not billions of people and such large amounts of damage to everything around us. Between 2000 and 2012, natural disasters caused $1.7 trillion in damage and affected 2.9 billion people.(www.DoSomething.org) Can we minimize the damage caused by natural disasters? The answer is always yes you can always try to stop things like this it just matters about how much will people put into protecting their own lives and the lives of others. People always want to have peace of mind that nothing will happen to them but things do happen these storms get stronger and stronger and start destroying things and killing people.
Can we minimize the damage caused by natural disasters? It can be minimized but its a hard thing to do. One article spoke of how the natural disasters take centuries to transform the geographical features of land the man has changed took place in less than ten years time. ( Be Mindful of Land Use) This happened in Harsil in Uttarakhand. Trees started falling in the forests in the mountains and hillsides gradually result in removal of fertile soil from the topsoil of the land and makes the land barren and not usable for things like farming and makes it useless. These types of lands become infertile and start eroding in a short period of time because of that. Besides they become more likely to get hit by sudden floods during rainy season. Incessant and unscientific quarrying is another threat which causes breaking or shaking of stones on the surface landscape by the use of hard hitting machines like JCB. This does harm to houses and other types of buildings that are by that area and they can be crus...

Then finally, the storm can be bumped up into a hurricane if the winds reach 75 mph. The National Weather Service is constantly trying to provide us with data and other information about when and where hurricanes are forming. It has been said that the only way to reduce the number of fatalities in serious storms is to give people more warning time for them to go to a safer place. Many times in hurricanes people are told to evacuate their city or state. The more time that people have to do this, the more that people will do this.
The initial response or lack thereof, to the widespread disaster in the Gulf Coast, caused by Hurricane Katrina, demonstrated high levels of incompetence and disorganization by government officials. Images of desperate individuals awaiting rescue on their rooftops, and masses of people packed together in deplorable conditions in the Super Dome, circulated the globe. There was no hiding from the painful reality and the obvious inaction or inability of those responsible to care for these individual in the wake of this catastrophe. (12, 791)
Mother Nature cannot be controlled and as humans we are forced to deal with various natural disasters. We have earth quakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, tornadoes and many other types of events that are weather driven. Many natural disasters affect our everyday lives and individuals may be forced to safe areas to protect themselves from potential danger. Natural disasters can also place a financial burden on people in affected communities. Hurricanes are strong storms that have been hitting the United States for as long as history can remember. Many hurricanes have hit the southeastern part of the United States the past 100 years. Some of these hurricanes have left little effect of society while others have scarred into the history
Even though humans are building constructions to prevent natural disasters, Mother Nature overpowers them by provoking natural disasters. Some of which is when a tornado hit Queens, New York in 2012; the tornado exceeded the sea shore of the beach, hit benches, and carried and threw away garbage cans (Williams, 2012). Two years before, an earthquake struck Youngstown, and this natural disaster was caused by Youngstown's people (Choi, 2013).In 2008, a devastating flood wet most of New Orleans due to the built up dams. The Hirakud dam was also built to prevent dams and improve irrigation in Orissa, India, but a flood destroyed the town instead; Orissa is small town ad whatever catastrophes happen to it endangers the whole demographic. This incident led to sixty-eight deaths and four and an half million people undergoing hunger hardships, and 2,999km road was ruined too. (Panda, 2008) Therefore, people should realize defying Mother Nature and constructions preventing natural disasters might actually worsen their society's current situation.

It seems peculiar how we can be at such an advanced stage technologically yet we are unable to completely stop a natural hazard from causing loss of life and damage to existing constructed resources and infrastructures.
Tsunamis are on a scale of destruction that no one can stop. Earthquakes that reveal the earth 's true secrets. Hurricanes with winds up to speeds of 155mph, with the worst hurricane recorded, getting wind speeds of 195 mph. A typhoon and a cyclone also fall into the category of hurricanes, just a different type of destruction. Avalanches tumbling down a mountain with high speeds that cover everything in it’s path. Natural disasters can very destructive. Not only can they destroy your environment, your property, your life, your family, and your hope, it destroys the rest of the world too.
