Millia’s Memoir: Becoming a Victim of the Blob “What do you wanna do?” Makaiya asks me as she lays down her towel. “I don’t know,” I reply doing the same. “Truth or dare?” she says, with a mischievous grin on her face. “Dare,” I say smiling. “I dare you…” she pauses for a second as she thinks of what I have to do. “ I dare you to get blobbed!” My heart sinks like a rock, but as bravely as I can I simply say, “Okay.” My feet make a deep, loud, knocking sound as I slowly walk up the wooden stairs, slick with water. The lifeguard on duty hands me a blue life jacket and I slip it over my black and teal bathing suit. When I get to the top of the wooden platform, I close my eyes as I feel the cool breeze against my face. It feels peaceful up here, I think. All of the sense of peace was gone when another lifeguard says, “Next!” I look to my right and I see Makaiya standing on the sand with both thumbs up smiling. I smile back, but then I look down at the now terrifying water that waits below me. …show more content…
“Not at all,” I reply. He just laughs at me. I slowly step up to the ledge where I will soon jump off onto the big air pillow that floats on the glistening water. “Three!” The lifeguard yells. “Two!” Oh lord, help me, I think to myself. “One!” I take a running leap and fall in what feels like slow motion. Poof! I land on the yellow, blue, and green colored blob. “Crawl to the end!” I hear Bryan yell from the wooden tower. The surface of the blob is rough with sand from the previous victims of the blob. I flip around so I go feet first as I scootch to the end. The lifeguard that hangs onto the red float the says LIFEGUARD in big white letters asks me,” Are you ready?” I nod my head slowly. He gives a thumbs up towards the
Running we get to the deck. All around people are confused. I look for anything to tell me what happened. Nothing. Boom!!!
... and out of my lungs as I breath, the thunderous beating in my ears is starting to resend. I look around and realize that I have fallen less than halfway to the ground. I am a live, but my job isn't done yet. I pulled my feet together and make two perfect bounds to the ground below.
I smiled to myself and decided that I would go join in. With that, I took a huge deep breath and jumped into the salty water. The water was cool and refreshing; I felt it slide through my hair making it sway in the water. I swam deeper and deeper into the deep blue water. Sunlight streamed through it, lighting up the water around me turning it to gold. I kicked harder and I felt my muscles surge with strength and I pushed further. My lunges began to burn for the need of oxygen, but I refused to go up. I repeatedly told myself just a little bit longer. Until I was unable to proceed anymore without more air in my lungs, I swam to the top of the water taking a huge breaths, filling my lungs with air. I could then taste the salty water as it ran down my face and dripped over my lips. Just then I thought, I will never forget this moment, this place, or the experiences I felt while visiting
As you wait for the boat to come pick you up, make sure to unfasten your boots. Hold the board out of the water in order to allow other boats to see you clearly.
The cold, salty water hits my lungs, and I finally admit to myself that I'm drowning. My last breath explodes into a hundred watery bubbles. They escape toward the surface, leaving me behind. I kick even harder but I'm not going anywhere.
I finally surfaced the water and took what felt like the best breath I ever took in my life. I thought that I saw a face, no wait I did see a face. Maybe my vision was playing tricks on me when I hit something cold and fragile. It was probably Sophie,
...we found the bodies, yet the crashing blue-green water spins me into a reality that is worlds away from the sight of stiff men. I'm not sure if this is healing or forgetfulness; all I can be certain of is the bite of the water on my skin and the dropping sun. I stare at my hand under the surface of the water, fascinated by how far away it looks and by the deep blue color of my fingernails. That hand isn't a part of my body, how can it be, it is deep in the water, opening and closing experimentally as water crashes on top of it. I want to leave it there, forever feeling the numbing water, forever fighting the currents that would wash it out to the Pacific Ocean. But then my arm moves, lifts my hand, and I realize it is mine, as are my legs and toes and wet matted hair. And the water keeps falling, pounding, rushing and I just stand there, staring, watching, waiting.
My sweat soaked shirt was clinging to my throbbing sunburn, and the salty droplets scalded my tender skin. “I need this water,” I reminded myself when my head started to fill with terrifying thoughts of me passing out on this ledge. I had never been so relieved to see this glistening, blissful water. As inviting as the water looked, the heat wasn't the only thing making my head spin anymore. Not only was the drop a horrifying thought, but I could see the rocks through the surface of the water and couldn't push aside the repeating notion of my body bouncing off them when I hit the bottom. I needed to make the decision to jump, and fast. Standing at the top of the cliff, it was as if I could reach out and poke the searing sun. Sweat dripped from my forehead, down my nose, and on its way to my dry, cracked lips which I licked to find a salty droplet. My shirt, soaked with perspiration, was now on the ground as I debated my
The ground is moist on the boy's bare feet. Knowing the storm is not passing anytime soon, the boys venture deeper into the unknown to the cave, little do they know, it would be the biggest mistake of their lives. Breca and Beowulf buried themselves within the cold damp walls. They realize the ground is beginning to liquefy. They do not think much of it as their curiosity takes over. They go deeper in the cave. As the liquid on the ground thickens, the realize it is not water. The thick goo covering their feet hardens. Their eyes dart to their feet as they thrust, trying to get free from the substances restraints. As the two boys struggle to get up their feet, are free. Their heads slowly raise, and to their amazement, a monster beyond their scariest dreams stood before them. Its eyes glow a lifeless yellow. The goo absorbed into the surrounding walls as the boys stand astounded to what was happening in front of their own eyes. The monster wreaked of spoiled human flesh. Its skin covered in the blood of its victims. The boys slowly step back. Beowulf reached the entrance of the cave softly. Breca creeps towards the side of the cave, his left hand against the smooth, slippery wall. Then his butt, then his back. Soon enough his body is one with the cave wall. As his bare back glides up the glassy surface. As he nears the exit-of-danger, his body comes to an abrupt stop. The substance on the cave wall hardens, trapping his body
As I enter through the small door, a cake falls into the palms of my hands like a precious baby. I don 't know what compelled me to, but I eat it. The whole thing. I engulf it like the ocean invades the beach on a windy day. This time, instead of shrinking, I grow into this monstrous giant. At this point, I couldn’t take the confusion anymore. I cry and cry and cry and make an ocean of my tears. I cry so much that my tears overcome me and drag me down. I shrink as the salty water forces itself down my throat and I am drowning. I let myself drown and wander through the darkness until I am washed onto the shore.
...e became more and more overcome with suspense and anticipation. Before we plunged to the bottom, we noticed a kayak broken in two pieces. It had been caused by a collision with a boulder, at the bottom of the fall. We were scared to death, because we thought we would hit it and flip over. However, with the help of our fast-thinking and skillful guide, we were able to make it down the fall safely. All the action was over, so we let out a sigh of relief and allowed our nerves to relax.
The blob spoke out saying that it wanted to explore a new world and be the first to find a new dimension. She said that she comes from the world called Jaminkasic. Jewels expresses that the blob said, “Nice to meet you. I feel like you don’t like me, but it doesn’t matter now since I’m going to take over your world.” A moment after this a pit/portal was created in the ground, it disappeared into a different
He swiftly swam me through the waves and, onto the shore. The paramedics were there on the site to check me out. After about a half hour of having my vitals checked and cuts bandaged, my family were allowed to see my. As usual, they were hugging and crying at the same time. I thanked the lifeguard for saving my life and same for the paramedics to.
Just as I get a breath, the powerful monster swallows me once more. It finally hits me that I’m going to be under a long time. These are 20 ft waves, I think to myself. There is no way I am getting out of here the easy way. I feel the blood surge to my head as the paranoia sets in.
The smoke was choking me. I could see a faint outline of a face across the deck. It was Tom, my lifelong friend and companion. He was completely surrounded by the bright flames."Tom are you OK!!""Yeah, but the fire has me surrounded!""Tom jump overboard, hurry!""But....but....""Do it quick, hurry!"I hit the surprisingly cold water with a crash.
