Dr. Cheryl Cendan
Our principal, Dr. Cendan has served Millennium Middle since its inception in 2002. As principal, one of her greatest challenges is balancing all of the daily demands of students, teachers and community. Despite her busy schedule, Dr. Cendan finds time to inspire, coach, and mentor students and faculty members along her path. Under her leadership Millennium has consistently exceeded expectations. Thanks for making Millennium shine above the
Ms. Hall has had many years of public education experience and higher education training in which to hone her leadership style and framework. She started her career as a teacher in the Kirkwood School District. She then served as an assistant elementary principal at both Ritenour and Pattonville School Districts before being selected to serve as the assistant superintendent of the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District in 2008. Throughout her career she continued to pursue her education as a means o...

Chapter one of Ten Traits of Highly Effective Principals opens with one of the most influential traits of what an effective principal should possess, the communication trait. To be successful in any venue in life, you must be able to communicate with people; this is especially true in the education world. Principals are responsible for communicating with people in all walks of life, parents, students, teacher, administrative office personnel and the general public, as an administrator, you must make each of these individuals feel a sense of trust and belonging while communicating with them. Principals use conversations and gesture to build confidence and open lines of communication for learning and growth.
The main challenge that Rocky Road School District is currently facing is the several lawsuits from former parents and staff. As well as the lack of team work that is shown within the district. Having a meeting with all Principals in the Rocky Road district is a most. Negotiation of teacher’s contracts and the hiring of new qualified teachers which will help assist the testing scores for the district. Giving parents a sense of comfort that their children are being well educated is a key challenge. My main challenge will be getting all parties involved in the movement to “Strive for Excellence.” Our main concern is getting faculty, staff, student, parents and the community working together to make Rocky Road School District successful, it takes a team to fix such a messy situation.
Standard 1 of the Florida Principal Leadership Standards (2011) describe the priority of the school leader as, “effective school leaders demonstrate that the student learning is their top priority through leadership actions that build and support a learning organization focus on student success”. Our number one priority and focus is and always should be our students. They are the reason behind our professions. It is the faculty the ones who should be supported by the administrators. The leaders should celebrate their success, encourage them, support their assertive instructional decisions, and motivate them each day to create the right conditions for learning. The principals must plan to project growth the most accurate possible, employing all the help that they could get for this challenging task. Students should not be affected because qualified teachers are not available. Strategic schools use the resources at had to relocate, and alleviate the human resources problems.
The case study, The New Principal: Managing Human Resources by Jane A. MacDonald (2006) brings to light many issues a first-year principal could face. For this analysis, I am going to focus on three main ideas: school readiness for change, integrating technology, and human resource needs. All of concerns and tasks that Ms. Zola identified during her brief visit to Roma Elementary fall into one of those overarching ideas.
While walking through my local comic shop, Rocking Rooster, I overheard the shops owners talking about their favorite superheroes. One of the men made a claim that his favorite superhero will always have to be Batman. I thought to myself in no possible way can batman be considered a superhero. When compared to real heroes such as Superman or Wonder Woman, Batman just doesn’t hold up. A real superhero has to have some type of super human ability, face villains with the strength of gods, and always work for the good of the people, not above the law. I have found that it makes much more sense to include Batman in the category of vigilante, as he tends to compare much better to vigilantes such as Green Arrow.
Mary Magnet Elementary School would like to build strong partnerships and relationships through communication among home, school and community to ensure students would have a successful outcome in their educational experience. It is the desire of all educator to help the students at Mary Magnet Elementary School reach their full potential in every area by providing a safe and welcoming environment, being supportive, encouraging risk taking and welcoming opportunities to share new ideas. We hope to instill the love of learning in all students as we share our own passion for learning with them. “Children have tremendous potential for success if they are provided the same support and guidance (Hjalmarson, 2011).”
In deciding how to meet the skill needs of the teaching staff, Ben begins with the hiring process. Knowing what our School Improvement Plan goals are, his interview questions include specific skills and knowledge that will help Falcon Creek students meet these achievement goals. Mr. Rhodes is very clear about his high expectations of the teaching staff. He is currently in Denver University’s P.H. D. program in Educational Leadership and he utilizes his knowledge of best practice research. His assessments of staff learning needs are gleaned from a variety of sources that include feedbac...
A Teen Titans live action series has (finally) been announced. The terrific team of young superheroes is going to be produced by DC DW producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. We're unsure if they'll connect these series to the current DC CW Universe. However, this will be the first time some of these heroes have ever been on live-action television, and hopefully, a show that will open great opportunities for some talented actors. Known for his role as Calvin in The Walking Dead, he would play a fantastic role for our cyberpunk themed hero.
Many times our first thoughts regarding educational leadership are turned to our first experiences as a child. For most, this individual is the school principal. Teachers and students may have a skewed view of this authority figure. He or she is often the focal point of decision-making and discipline. The principal is the singular driving force that combines teachers with their colleagues and students with their teachers and peers (Goldring, 2...

Thomas Sergiovanni (2015) describes three essential dimensions of leadership as “the heart, head, and hand of leadership.” The heart describes those characteristics within the school leader that reflect personal “beliefs, values, and dreams.” The head of leadership refers to the practice of teaching and educating. The hand of leadership reflects actions taken by school leaders with respect to management behaviors. (p. 5) Within these elements, there is room for personal choice in how leadership is practiced and it is incumbent on new principals to find an individual leadership style that responds to the uniqueness of each school.
Parents and community members want to know that their contributions towards the campus are valued and appreciated. Many times we take for granted those events occurring around us. It is crucial we express gratitude towards those people investing in increasing student achievement. Stakeholders want to feel accepted and worthy in their contributions to the campus. In addition, communities are made up of different types of culture, race and income status making the culture diverse which may act as a barrier in creating a positive atmosphere. Yet, this type of misunderstanding can be avoided by simply asking questions in a respectful manner. School leaders must make parent and community involvement a priority, valuing and accepting each other’s differences. “Schools provide wonderful opportunities to bring together students, families, educators and other community members to build the collaborative partnerships that promote quality educational, recreational, and social opportunities for all citizens” (Lechtenberger and Mullins, 2004, p. 21). Schools, parents and community members must work together to support all students in a learning environment to ensure every student is a successful lifetime
In order to be an effective school, all school personnel must work together in a friendly, caring, polite, and respectful manner. There are a number of positions and employees in a school. “A school is a complex social system, and all the people in it contribute to making it run smoothly” (Kauchak & Eggen, 2014, p. 182). It’s important to acknowledge the contributions of all staff and faculty members. The principal, leader of the school is the ...
