Military Spending Persuasive Speech

In our country today our citizens go through the day like everything is perfectly fine when they never really notice or care to think of the problems this country of ours is facing everyday unless it is effecting them directly. Many people don’t notice our constant struggle over in other countries especially in the Middle East regarding our military and allies, or how each day our country goes deeper in debt, or even the fact that our government has trouble getting things done and passed due to the disagreements between our two political parties. I believe that until these problems are solved like slowly pulling troops out our current engagements and just supporting our allies, or a major one is cutting back on certain programs and funding

That number increases each and every day due to our careless spending. If we don’t act now our future generations will have to pay drastically for what is happening, and if we don’t start soon we may never be able to recover. One suggestion I said earlier was to cut back on some areas of military spending which right now we spend around 718 Billion dollars a year. I do agree that our safety should be the utmost importance but I don’t think we need to be spending money on mass numbers of troops overseas, who are involved in wars and conflicts that we don’t need to be in. Another idea that may help cut spending would to be stricter on who can collect unemployment and who shouldn’t. Unemployment is costing us around 250 Billion a year out of our budget and I believe that could be decreased if people on unemployment were required to take random drug tests and show proof that they are looking for a job and trying to find work. Some people on unemployment live off the government and spend most their money on illegal substances. I think that if a person should fail a random drug test will collecting the benefit they should be removed and prevented from receiving for a set amount of time. Also to keep people from relying on the money they should show proof that they are trying and searching for a job. That proof could be the signature or stamp from an interviewer or a copy of an application submitted and approved. That would keep the abusing of the benefits limited and help us save money that can go towards helping reduce the
