In 1980, the first president of the Republic of Djibouti inaugurated the marvelous and well-known military school of Holl-Holl. Since its establishment, this military school has been a perfect tool for training the future cadre of the national army and noncommissioned officers who are the backbone of our national army. Therefore, it was named the President Gouled military school. In 2006, I began my first military assignment in that military school. My experience in that school helped me to shape my military career because of the leadership traits of the school commandant, the professionalism of the directing staffs and benefits of military courses for non-commissioned officers and the troops of the Djiboutian army. The first experience that affected me deeply were the character and effectiveness of the chief of the school. This commander was really an open mind leader, ready always to listen his subordinates. In addition, he was continuously worrying about the well-being of his staffs and their families. Moreover, he was a tough and competent officer who likes extremely his work and he was a model officer that all his officers and other staff liked to be alike. For instant, it is really obvious nowadays that in Djibouti national army, all NCOs and troops who have been shaped by this school are really as competent and skilled than their peers who were not in that school. Although, being a young officer, I learned a lot about the military and gained experience. In addition, this school gives tools as well as tactical and technical skills and shapes NCOs, which are the backbone of the army.
