The communities that I belong to, here in the United States, are the military community and the Pacific Islander community. I am currently on active duty in the Air Force and living on base housing at Hill AFB, Utah. It’s a peaceful and secured neighborhood because we live inside the base, behind the fence and benefitting on military level security. I currently don’t have a Bachelor’s Degree Major that I am working on and for now am just working on my Associates Degree in Aircraft Armament Systems. Presently, I am taking 2 classes this semester at Park University Online. I also don’t have clubs that I am a member of or attending to. Right now, I am already in my intended career field as a United States Air Force Staff Sergeant but I would still want to climb up the ranks of an officer. I don’t play sports anymore, but I do regularly go to the gym to work out and it became my hobby. Meanwhile, during Sundays, me and my family would go to the church to attend a Roman Catholic mass. Having a Filipino descent in me, I could say …show more content…
I first joined this community when I swore an oath to protect this country and it’s almost 5 years ever since. This community is organized through integrity, service before self, excellence, loyalty and honor. In this community, the commander in chief and the formal leaders would be the “POTUS” the President of the United States and all his high-ranking officials. On the side of informal leaders, everybody in the military is a leader or is being trained to be one. The subgroup of this community would be all the branches of the military - the Air Force, Navy, Marines, Army and the Coast guard, all of which have the common interest to support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and
One subculture within the United States is that of the US Army. The Army defends the nation against all enemies, foreign and domestic. It is an exclusive group since not everyone in the country serves in the Army.
The military since the Colonial Era has been an impetus for social reform in the United States. The Revolutionary War afforded Black Americans an opportunity to escape from the toils of slavery and fight for freedom. Some Black Americans even earned their freedom by fighting for the Colonists, but still the freedom they fought for wasn’t their own. However, the military was responsible for the freedom of many slaves and some of these freed slaves became legendary soldiers like Salem Poor. His performance in battle gave credibility for future arguments about blacks being allowed to serve.
The following was a submitted report for a U.S. History research paper assignment We fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea. First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean; We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine. Our flag's unfurled to every breeze from dawn to setting sun. We have fought in every clime and place, where we could take a gun. In the snow of far off northern lands and in sunny tropic scenes, You will find us always on the job, The United States Marines. Here's health to you and to our Corps which we are proud to serve. In many a strife we've fought for life and never lost our nerve. If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines." The Marine hymn is eternally etched in the mind's and soul of every recruit and officer who have served in the United States Marine Corps. Every Marine has gone through boot camp, each sacrificing blood, sweat, and tears. One thing that has never deteriorated in their years of existence is the fact that they have yet to lose a war they have put effort in. Is this exceptional record due to their extensive training? Is it because of their aggressive nature and mindset? What is to follow may shed some light on these questions and perhaps give some type of insight on how the Marine Corps was so prevailing and what conflicts had they had conquered. 1775, November 10th. This date is memorized and celebrated by every United States Marine as something of excellence, a date of honor. This date is non other than the "birthdate" of the Marine Corps. It was on this date that the Continental Congress passed a resolution to create two operational battalions of American Marines. These men would ultimately be headed by Captain Samuel Nicholas, of the United States Naval department. It was in Philadelphia that the first Marines were grouped and trained for their inaugural mission. The three hundred Marines that had been recruited, were placed aboard eight transport ships, all destined for the beaches of New Providence (the Bahamas). Upon their landing on March 3rd, 1776, they fought up the beach, sweeping through a barrage of bullets, and took command of two small stone forts and a number of military storage complexes.
This essay seeks to explore whether the American Legion’s charter should be amended so as to better reflect our nation’s appreciation for those who serve in times of war and peace. Indeed, it is an issue made all the more cogent today: With increasing numbers of young Americans rejecting the armed forces as a career option, recruitment goals are not being met and the military is being forced to lower its entrance requirements. If this trend is not soon reversed, the U.S. military could be perceived as incapable of implementing our nation’s strategic policies abroad -- a perception that can only encourage the most aggressive ambitions of other nations.
Wars have many battles. However, battles do not always lead to war. Marines courageously serve in our nations wars. Their ability to win battles allows our nations to deal with threats quickly without making the situation more dangerous than it already is. Since the year of 1775 the Marines have been the number one branch of the military called upon first. Their ability to execute the most rapid, effective, and efficient military response to disputes anywhere in the world, makes them one of the most respected branches of the military. The Marines Corps are deployed to respond swiftly and aggressively to threats around the world. What distinguishes the Marines Corps from any other branch is the bond formed by their motto “Semper Fidelis.” It was a motto adopted in 1883. “Semper Fidelis” in Latin means “always faithful.” It reminds marines to always be faithful to their mission, to one another, and to the Corps and our beloved nation, no matter the cost. However, we will discuss the history and background of the career, the requirements to obtain the career, the job position and description, and the job reflection and outlook.
Readiness is of the utmost importance with training being the most significant aspect that contributes to Readiness. Each Soldier needs an individual training plan. The plan should take the Soldier from enlistment to discharge or retirement. It is each Soldiers responsibility to be proficient in their field craft. This includes being fit mentally and physically, and trained to win in a complex world. It is the responsibility of the NCO to train these Soldiers. Unit training plans will address the readiness and resilience of individual Soldiers to ensure their fitness to accomplish their mission. Units must conduct realistic training at the individual, squad, platoon and company levels focused on Mission Essential Tasks (METs) for their
The standard military family understands the fact that their veteran will be not only deployed, but put in some of the most dangerous situations in history. However, in the midst of the danger a stronger bond and sense of survival builds inside each member of the family. When a family is dealing with having to accept that a member of their family will die for their protection, a new understanding of life is gained and accepted. In my life, I have had to say goodbye to my father, and have him absent from my life for over three years. Three whole years in which communication was limited and assurance of safety was not a thing. During these times I was faced with all the negatives of the military life, and personally felt that the military was
The military culture is truly a society of warriors who heavily rely on each individual to master the ability of handling stress under the most extreme circumstances. Personal sacrifice in order to ensure mission success is paramount within the military culture. Due to this mindset, which is heavily reliant on demonstrating resilience through adversity and displaying inner strength, individuals diagnosed with a mental illness face an extraordinary battle amongst their peers.
“ Here Rests in Honored Glory an American Soldier Known but to God.” The Solemn phrase engraved into what became the tomb of the Unknown Solider offers a sense of dignity and tranquil feeling to those who visits the magnificent marble sarcophagus. The body of an unknown soldier was entombed on November 11, 1921, as a tribute paid by the Americans to those soldiers who perished during World War I. A military honor guard was established at the tomb. The honor guard is made up of select members of the Third U.S. Army Infantry Regiment, known as the Old Guard. Guarded day and night, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier became a national memorial that will forever symbolize the peace, victory, and valor of those American soldiers died fighting for the freedom of this country.
We all know this world has had many wars, whether it’d be with another country or a civil war. We know since the beginning of time we’ve always struggled to survive to protect our lands. The United States broke away from the Crown in the Revolutionary war, won over southern states from Mexico, recovered from a brutal civil war, and saved the world from collapsing through two world wars. The US had some rough spots with war also, but the men and women who go to battle for us are all brave souls. The first in to the battle from the Revolutionary War to now, have been the Marines. You have heard of the saying “Semper Fidelis.” Well that stands for “always faithful”, another unofficial motto is “first to fight”. The motto of the Marines has been “Semper Fi” for almost three hundred years. They never back down and never give up. Marines will stare death in the face and won’t back down. They will head to battle with their brothers and sisters knowing that someone has their back as they have someone else’s. That sounds like a life style that I’d want to live.
The purpose of developing quality citizens and leaders is highly meaningful for the Marines. The way they show this is by teaching young recruits how to fight for the nation by land, air and sea to protect the citizens and ensure their quality of life not only in the United States but also around the world. In an excerpt from the oath to enlist, it states, “ I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to all the same and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me,
...d me with our staff and Soldiers we have been given the opportunity to lead. The time and effort spent will be well worth it. Possessing a shared understanding of the operational environment will aid in our planning process when conducting operations throughout our theater of operation. In every operation we execute we know that we will accept prudent risks, identification and mitigation of those risks will determine our ability to accomplish our mission. Incorporating the principles of mission command by building cohesive teams through mutual trust, fostering an environment of shared understanding, and accepting prudent risk will make me an effective adviser to the commander, aid the staff during the operations process, and provide an example for Soldiers to emulate. My involvement in all aspects of mission command is critical to the success of our organization.
The Estate System was a major social cause of the French Revolution. During the 18th century France, society was divided into three unequal estates: the clergy, nobility, and peasants. The Estate System, a class structure used before the French Revolution, was used to determine taxes. The Third Estate, or the peasants, which represented ninety-seven percent of the French population had to pay the taxes while the First and Second Estate were exempted from doing so. For example, Arthur Young, an English campaigner for the rights of agricultural workers of the 18th century, met a woman from the Third Estate, who complained of the times. She described the times as "crushing us [herself and her husband]" (Young, 1789). These taxes included wheat,

The Moral Duty of Everyday Citizens In the United States duty is important and necessary in order to keep the present in order and to prepare for the future. Duty requires sacrifice and diligence. In the Spanish-American War duty was extremely important to soldiers and to the people back home. The soldiers did their duty and protected the people back home from having to go through the same terror they did.
