Out of all the countries involved in war, Germany was pretty much in the lead for military advancements. They were the first country to utilize flight as a weapon, which was very dangerous considering the ideal of flying an airplane hadn't been around for a long time. No other country had though to do this which have Germany a huge advantage, they could fly over their enemies land to create maps of what it looked like. This was extremely useful one day for the Germans but not so much for the French, while a plane flew over French land they saw flowers planted in the middle of nowhere, thus giving away the hiding spot of french soldiers. It turned out the soldiers planted those plants to make the place feel more alive. The plane was not only used to spy on enemies but also to ambush them, machine guns could be attached to the planes and later used to shoot soldiers from the opposing sides. Inventors realized that if they could put machine guns on a plane, they could also bring bombs up there to surprise their enemies. We soon learned the biggest downfall from using flight as a weapon was sometimes innocent civilians would get killed by either machine guns or

At the beginning of the War, men felt that being part of the troops that were on the frontline was an honorable thing to do. Men who joined the army were seen as patriotic and loyal to their countries. In this perspective, any man who had the strength to go out to fight would voluntarily join the force without any resistance.
