Hello, I'm Miles Cline or Centipede kid. I'm from the Amazon jungle and river. I live inside a big tree where experiments are done. I have a best friend named The Water Woman. I’m a short blonde kid with blue eyes. I live alone, I was born in the capital city Brasilia. I like it here because Its warm all year round. I was used in an experiment. But then an Amazonian giant centipede crawled in. Then our DNA was merged. When I looked in the mirror, I was very different. I had grown long antennas and from the waist down, looked exactly like a centipede. I can climb buildings with my many legs. I can read minds. I can stretch across the street. I can tunnel underground, so nobody sees me, just the trail I leave. I can jump very high.
As we see David Metzenthen about to accept yet another award on his latest book, we feel it necessary to review other titles this author has produced. Published in 2003, the best-selling novel ‘boys of blood and bone’ is a highly-commended book receiving an honor award from the ‘The Children’s book council.’ It is also selected nationwide as a year 10 curriculum novels. Although this impressive list looks appealing, the actual content of the novel is sadly not. Being a duel narrative, the author uses war and contrasting modern day to express the meaning of relationships in adolescent lives. Less prevalent values in the book are honor, mate ship and the acceptance of responsibility. This shows the potential to be a great influence on young lives
'You are a nobody! An It!?(Pelzer 140). These were the raw, disheartened remarks that came from the disgusting coldhearted mother's mouth. These painful hurting remarks at her son was how the book got its title and that's what interested me in reading this book. A Child Called 'It', by Dave Pelzer, is a life-changing story about, a young boy who is starved, beat, and tortured by his mother and her cruel games, yet he manages to turn his life around when he grows up. This young boy uses his faith, self-discipline, and will power to overrule his mother's destruction and life damaging obstacles.
Imagine being a child stuck in a dark hole alone, and having to face terror for many years. Well A Child Called It shares the everyday battles of a child, David Pelzer, and it reflects the inhumanity of someone who’s supposed to be loving and caring. The story of the abused child, Pelzer, not only tells the insanity of humankind, but show how easy it is for child abuse to be hidden behind walls. At a very young age Pelzer started to suffer and live such a miserable life. Pelzer faced battles where he not only learned to stay strong, but survive the games from the abuser, his mother, the abuser. Throughout the book, Pelzer shares his experience as an abused child, and reveals such extreme mistreatment from his abuser. In this case, as a reader,

Growing up in Colorado, I knew that my family originated from New Mexico but I had not realized the extent of my ancestor’s impact, on my mother’s side, on the development of the state of New Mexico. I remember as a little girl going to my grandparents’ house in Tucumcari, New Mexico and always wondering how they ended up in such a small town but never asked. As I got older I got more curious and therefore I started asking more questions, I then found out that my grandfathers’ family had lived in Tucumcari for a long time and my grandmothers’ family was originally from Silver City. My grandparents met at New Mexico State University and moved back to Tucumcari to help my great-grandparents with the family ranch after my grandfather finished college and they just never
Imagine waking up on a normal day, in your normal house, in your normal room. Imagine if you knew that that day, you would be taken away from your normal life, and forced to a life of death, sickness, and violence. Imagine seeing your parents taken away from you. Imagine watching your family walk into their certain death. Imagine being a survivor. Just think of the nightmares that linger in your mind. You are stuck with emotional pain gnawing at your sanity. These scenerios are just some of the horrific things that went on between 1933-1945, the time of the Holocaust. This tragic and terrifying event has been written about many times. However, this is about one particularly fascinating story called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks.
