Now i'm not sure how many connections you can make between Neurosurgeon Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa and boxer Mike Tyson, but at a boiled down stages they are preaching the same principles.
On page 60 of Becoming Dr. Q the authors write about how no matter how long you prepare, study, and plan, once it comes time to actually execute, it can all turn to shit in a matter of moments, and that you have to actually put the effort and time in to do it hands on. He also attributes success most importantly to good luck, which brings us back to Mike Tyson.
Boxing consists of two fighters in a cage, these two fighters can be both evenly matched to beat the ever living shit out of each each other, or there can be a mismatch, where supposedly one fighter has the upperhand. By the age of 13 he had been arrested 36 times, by the age of 20 he became the youngest heavyweight champion in the world. In both of these cases it took determination, hard work, and persistence; but how many people were also determined, a hard worker, and persistent, if not more so then these two that never came close to achieving what Dr Q. and Mike Tyson did. good luck?
