Born on June 30, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight
boxing champion in the world in 1986. Mike was twenty years old when he was given this
honor. But his title was taken away in 1990. Later Tyson served three years in jail over rape
charges. During a rematch in 1977 Tyson acted as an animal and bit Evander Holyfield's ear. He
claimed to have done this in return of Holyfield's illegal head butts during the match. In July of
1991 Mike was accused of yet another rape. The new victim's name was Desiree Washington, a
Miss Black American contestant. He was found guilty after nearly a year of trial proceedings.
While in prison, Tyson was found guilty of threatening one of the guards. His punishment was
having 15 days added to his sentence.

He was arrested after nearly crashing into a police SUV. His car was
searched and there was cocaine and drug paraphernalia found inside. He was given three years of
probation, 24 hours in jail and 360 hours of community service. After this incident he started
attending Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
As he tried to fix his life he received news that his four- year old daughter accidentally strangled
herself on a treadmill cord. This marked another dark spot in his life. In 2009 he remarried for
the third time to Lakiha Spicer. Tyson had seven children altogether with different women,
including those from all three marriages. Some women chose to be anonymous to the media.
Growing up was not easy for Mike, as he was often the target for bullying. He was always in the
streets doing things he should not have been doing. At 11 years old he became a part of a gang
that was affiliated with stealing. At the age of 13 he was introduced into the boxing world while
he was in a reform school. His counselor, Bob Stewart had been an amateur boxing champion
and decided to help Mike only if he agreed to stay out of trouble and do better in
Our staff tells you who was snubbed as an NBA All-Star starter. Jonathan Ebrahimi () : For starters, I think we all agree that Westbrook was snubbed this year. He’s keeping a largely under-talented Thunder team in the thick of the playoff hunt and is putting up historically great numbers to do it. Out East, there are two players I feel have been overlooked. For starters, Isaiah Thomas has been having a wonderful season for Boston.
Throughout Mike’s life, he had the fortunate experience of having some inspirational mentors. I have identified four of his numerous mentors as the most critical to his development, both educationally and personally.
While he was in the gang he dropped out of school. In the gang he got in a lot of trouble. He got arrested for the first time in 1957 after a gang fight. From then on he got arrested a lot in 1958 he was Convicted of burglary and given probation. In 1959 arrested for the first time as an adult for unlawful assembly in a raid at a gambling location.
Mike was also a paranoid person. For example, he gave the wrong address and phone number to the school so if something happened they could not contact him.
He was suffering from the side effect of been in jail and no one did absolutely nothing to help him, he was clearly in a deep depression, the flashback about his time in jail, was torturing him, he was need of mental health intervention. He was probably going through post-traumatic stress and depression and didn’t receive the proper treatment. This situation couldn’t been avoided if the court system weren’t be so neglect as well as if he would be referred for a psycho social and psychiatric
Mikes father had died when he was only a little boy and you’d never believe it by looking at his mental state. The financial problems he went through being that he left an exceptional job in place for volunteering all his time toward Klal Yisroel, was only something such a holy person could handle.

The coaches inflict lots of pressure onto Mike, so much pressure that he ended up being too burnt out to play in college. His dreams were crushed by the powers that controlled him as he grew into an adult.
his life in a major way. Mike’s biology teacher encouraged him to the best at everything and to
In the past few decades, clinical treatment has moved on from biomedical approach to the biopsychosocial approach. Scientists now believe that health of an individual is not merely due to physiological conditions but may also depend on psychological and socio-cultural perspectives(Engel, 1977). The term health psychology was developed by the American Psychological Association to describe health and wellness issues that arise from psychological problems. Health psychology stems from Systems theory, which says that human events such as injury and illness exist within several interconnected systems, such as our peer relationships, childhood experiences, personality and other factors (Schwartz, 1982).
He is now serving a long term of imprisonment for the crimes he committed that
Michael Gerard Tyson was born on June 30, 1966, to parents to Jimmy Kirkpatrick and Lorna Tyson in Brooklyn, New York. Mike grew up with his mother and two siblings after his father left the family when he was two years old. His early childhood offers a good look into the many different ways Mike was affected by conditioning. He was often made fun of as a kid, being a small boy with a high pitched voice made him a social target for kids in the neighborhood. When Mike was around 11 years old he had an incident with another peer that would prove to be a turning point in his development as a man. Mike raised carrier pigeons in his neighborhood and one day an older, larger kid pulled one of the heads off of his birds. Tyson became enraged and beat the boy to a bloody pulp (Heller, 1995). He was surprised at how strong he was and learned from this experience that he could use his strength and rage to empower himself and dominate the people around him. This was to become a dangerous pattern in the life of the man they called “Iron Mike”.
Mikes action to try and stop Ronnie from going after the kid shows how he has noticed the kid is fighting back hard, and wants to enforce their gangs rule. When Mikes confronts Ronnie, it upset him and he kicks Mike out of their gang. A while later Mike is walking the streets when he is confronted by his old brothers from the gang, they state the rule to him and he knows what about to happen. Mike gets kicked, punched, and tackled by the members of the gang, but he also puts up a very good fight knocking two of them out. As Mike goes to curb stomp Ronnie’s teeth out, he sees stares at his only friend that didn’t
Tyson’s rape trial took place in Marion County superior court from January 26 to February 10, 1992. Tyson was sentenced to 6 years in prison with 4 years of probation. Tyson only served 3 years on a 6 year sentence due to good behavior. Due to his conviction, Tyson was required to register as a sex offender. Tyson’s wasted years would not stop him from becoming one of the greatest ever.
I feel that his first major challenge was when he went to Shriners hospital for the first time to receive the rodding treatment and had to stay for months on end without seeing his family daily. During his hospitalization, Mike developed a deep devotion for the Chicago Cubs and when he would finally get to go home this strengthened the bond between father and son more than ever. A challenge for Mike- although it was with good intentions- was being singled out. At graduation for example, the crowd had given him a standing ovation when he received his diploma, but Mike did not feel that it was deserved and was more so a pity applause.
