Medieval time project

My job is to be a midwife and the equivalent to being in the medieval times was a midwife, not much has changed. A reason for this is because not much options were given to woman since it’s a male dominated society. Births are usually managed by the midwives and the most trusted midwife in the village, although in some places midwives are supposed to have a license that is given to midwives by the local bishop. Midwives would use the herbs that they would find to help the woman in laboring because of this a lot of conflict came because the church did not see this as an acceptable thing to do this led to midwives being accused by churches and people of doing witch craft.
Being a midwife was a profound way for a woman to get out there and get reputation for themselves. Midwives work alone most of the time because of how constantly Midwives travel from place to place. Midwives are required to stay in their house before and after the child is born to make sure there are no complications; If there is a chance that there is a problem during child birth Midwives are supposed to call a barber surgeon since Midwives are not trained for that type of medical processes. Midwives help pregnant women to give birth, although becoming a midwife can be rough because the books are either ancient or rare, some midwives even learn from family or friends, some also learn by having children of their own, some even get to learn it when they are kids because they are able to see the process it takes and the tools that the midwives use.
