In all the history of America one thing has been made clear, historians can’t agree on much. It is valid seeing as none of them can travel back in time to actually experience the important events and even distinguish what has value and what doesn’t. Therefore all historians must make a leap and interpret the facts as best they can. The populist movement does not escape this paradox. Two views are widely accepted yet vastly different, the views of Richard Hofstadter and Lawrence Goodwyn. They disagree on whether populists were “isolated and paranoid bigots” or “sophisticated, empathetic egalitarians”; whether their leaders were “opportunists who victimized them” or “visionary economic theorists who liberated them”; whether their beliefs were rooted in the free silver campaign of the 1890s or the cooperative movement of the 1880s; and finally whether their ideal society was in the “agrarian past” or “the promise of a cooperative future”. They could not agree on anything, over all Richard Hofstadter seems to have a better idea of the truth of populism.
The 1986 film “Sixteen Candles” tells a timeless tale of growing up in suburban America. The film’s star, Sam, played by Molly Ringwald, wakes up with big expectations on her sweet sixteenth birthday only to be completely disappointed. Not only does she find that she looks exactly the same as when she was fifteen, but her family is so preoccupied with her older sister’s wedding that they forget her birthday altogether.
Juror #1 originally thought that the boy was guilty. He was convinced that the evidence was concrete enough to convict the boy. He continued to think this until the jury voted the first time and saw that one of the jurors thought that the boy was innocent. Then throughout the movie, all of the jurors were slowly convinced that the boy was no guilty.
It was a cool, crisp November evening, while five teenagers were hustling and bustling around my house excitedly getting ready for their very first showing of the live version of their all time favorite movie. They knew it would be the best night of their lives. The night of my 15th birthday party, my friends and I all piled into my parents car around 11:00 PM and headed off down the road to the Heights Theater. The movie we are about to see is an all time classic. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the best cult film of all time. The movie has all the three basic elements it should have. It has funny audience participation, wonderful acting, and a great story line.
If you have watched the film Fight Club in regards to the early 1990’s and it’s American Consumerism it has a major effect on the countries early audiences which are males between 15 and 34 primarily all white. This led to a huge problem and was considered a controversial film. A film that would impact the world and the society in which people lived in leading to a public response. The huge question towards fight club is if the society would allow such in tolerant actions and if it’s possible to be controversial over the actions of rebellion. Fight Club has nothing to do with revolution but it is about the impossibility of it. This film criticizes the corporations and media and even pushes to criticize any big organizations looking to react against them. When the term Project Mayhem is introduced you noticed that a disorganized number or chaos, a group of men all wearing the same clothes chanting in unison in an anarchy way. The idea of individualism is terminated which is a major attribute of any revolution. For example fascism, communism or whatever idea you can think of. Some can argue that in this film the idea of individualism as it in introduced to us growing up is not the same but it’s a homogenization of the self, which is served to benefit the powers. This of it like this, you have the option to choose out of the two cars a land rover or a range rover. That is your freedom right there. This film helps open up the eyes of all values leading to individualism and has a strange complex with the main character and his different personality disorders. Fight club focuses on the ideas and the values of anyone who has power and those that are seeking to rebel against it.
Homeward Bound intertwines two old-fashioned narratives of suburban 1950’s with rampant anticommunism; allowing it to be a persuasive historical argument. Attempting to establish why, unlike both their children and parent, postwar Americans citizens looked to marriage along parenthood involving great enthusiasm and promise. May discovers that cold war philosophy and the domestic restoration were dual sides of the same coin. Postwar American citizens felt the need to become liberated from past mishaps to be more secure in the following years. According to the author national containment was an product of the uncertainties and objectives released after the war. Within the household, potentially threating social entities of the new age could be tamed, where they could add to the security and fulfillment of life that men and women wanted to obtain. However, the satisfying emphases of 1950’s great minds and physiologists suggested personal and private resolutions to social issues. The modern family was the place in which that alteration was expected to occur. The household was the atmosphere in which families could feel comfortable with themselves. Giving that, domestic restraint and its calming corollary weakened the potential for political involvement and protected the alarming effects of anticommunism and the cold-war consent.

I have to admit that I will not look fondly on my high school career. I spent most of my study time going out with my friends. I felt that I was paying my dues with the eight hours of boredom that began most of my days. Until now there were only a few classes that I enjoyed. In retrospect, I believe that it was my inability to choose the classes I took which resulted in my lack of enthusiasm on the ride to school each morning.
Minority Report is a 2002 science fiction film directed by renowned director Steven Spielberg and is set in the year 2054 in Washington, D. C. The film revolves around an elite law enforcing squad; Precrime. The Precrime Division uses three genetically altered humans called Pre-Cogs whom possesses special powers to see into the future and predict crimes beforehand. After each crime is foreseen and analyzed, Precrime police officers are sent to the crime location to apprehend the future murderers and place them under arrest. The future murderers are then put into a sleep state with a device called a "halo". Based on Minority Report, it suggests that humans are free willed beings and have the ability to alter the future that was predetermined for them.
In a Utopian society most of us would rejoice in knowing that two people such as Mel and Kel who care so deeply for one another, have found each other and are willing to spend the rest of their lives together. Unfortunately we don’t live in a society of that quality and admiration. In any culture, it’s generally conceived that the family is the absolute core of a society. In that, the norms and values of a civilization are directly conveyed from one generation to another through this bloodline. But what exactly is a family? Are there distinct specifications, qualifications or even guidelines that govern the framework for what a family should be? In the Webster’s dictionary a “family” is clearly defined as: “the basic unit in society having as its nucleus two or more adults living together and cooperating in the care and rearing of their own or adopted children.
The 2001 film Mulholland Drive directed by David Lynch is as thrilling as it is confusing to some people. As I watched it for the first time, I couldn't help but wonder the point that Lynch was trying to make was. To me, there was a comprehensible meaning to the story and it mainly involves the character Betty. Although, I later found out Betty was someone entirely different, Diane. Betty being a dream of Diane's is at the root of the story I believe Lynch was trying to tell. I see this film as a sort of cautionary tale. It is not so much a film about things not always appearing as they seem, as it is what happens when things do not turn out the way planned and a person gives up hope. By analyzing the character Betty/Diane at different points in the film it becomes a little more clear what the meaning behind Mulholland Drive is.
The populist movement is a variety of reform initiatives associated with popular sentiment. The Populists dreamed of creating a broad political coalition. Populism however, appealed to small farmers in particular with economic security. Out in the Midwest, Populists were typically family farmers who wanted their land back or tried to keep it in the first place. In the South, there were many modest landowners as well as sharecroppers and tenant farmers. Throughout all the differences most Populist had one thing in common: there were associated with a type of farming.
