When we think back about our past, we can’t seem to remember how it all started. We only have vague memories and these memories come from an event or someone who has made an impact on our lives. We only know about our lifespan development by asking questions from the people around us who saw us mature and evolve over time. But, as we get older we start to have memories of what occurred and how it happened. The events that have occurred during my 23 years of life have helped shape me into the person that I am today. Starting off, I am 23 years old, Asian American, and the youngest of four children.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to tell you anything that occurred before middle childhood (prenatal, infancy and toddlerhood, and early childhood). During my middle childhood years, from age six to eleven years old, are years that I remember to be the best! I was carefree, started to learn a bit about myself, and I built friendships. I had a decent childhood, I wouldn’t say that it was the best but it

I always stayed far away from drugs and alcohol. I guess at the same time, I was seeking for attention from my parents. Usually, I was never spanked but if I did something wrong, I received a lot of verbal aggression, a type of aggression that harms others through threats of physical aggression, name-calling, or hostile teasing. The reason for my dad becoming angry and using his words to hurt me was because I became pregnant at sixteen years old. This was a huge disappointment for my family and put a strain in our relationship.
This was the biggest moment in my life at this time; I was only a child who was about to have another child. I didn’t know any better and there I had to be a single parent at sixteen. I believe that this was a curse and a blessing at the same thing. My son is the blessing, but the curse had to deal with the loneliness and negativity that I received from my
Children between the ages of 8-12 are defined as being within the developmental stage of middle childhood. At this age, the rapid development of previous stages has decreased and the physical changes within this period are slower and more defined. The refinement of gross and fine motor skills is a critical aspect of this stage as the delayed or retarded development can have significant impact on the areas of cognitive, social and emotional development. In order to ensure children are equipped with the correct knowledge and understanding of health, well being and healthy eating, the period of middle childhood is one in which these aspects are incorporated and failure to properly do so can result in long term ramifications and problems.
The text depicts a historical perspective on Middle Childhood, as during the twentieth century, children were viewed primarily as an economic source of income, in terms of providing for the family. According to the text this happens often in European counties and in parts of the United States. Elizabeth D. Hutchinson, Dimensions of Human Behavior The Changing Life Course 3rd, 2008. In this short review we will look at how this historical perspective in itself is not a question to how, but when these individual give.
Childhood can be seen as a social status with multiple meanings and expectations attached to it without a clearly defined end or beginning (Montgomery 2009), This essay will introduce different sociological perspectives on what childhood is since childhood is not universal rather is it mobile and shifting this means children experience various childhoods there are local and global variations(Waller 2009), a Childs experience can be influenced by their gender, ethnicity, culture and social class which this essay will expand on. The essay will then move forward to focusing on childhood in local and global countries to investigate the differences they have among each other lastly the essay will go onto ways an professional can help acknowledge all children diversity and create an inclusive environment regardless of their differences (Penn 2008).inclusion provides support to all children so that their experiences in an educational; setting encourages them to be as involved and independent as possible as well as help them understand the differences among their class mates
For my self-assessment, I chose to discuss the Middle Childhood, Adolescence, and Young Adulthood life stages. The theories of human behavior that will be discussed are Erikson’s Psychosocial theory, Kohlberg’s theory of moral reasoning, and Albert Bandura’s social learning theory. I chose these life stages because they are the stages where I have experienced many events that have shaped me into the person I am today. There are a number of factors that have played a role in my development over a period of time and I will discuss them throughout my paper.
...child. I had no choice but to shape up and make a way for the both of us. Having a child made me realize that life is not all fun and games as my mother would say. I learned that in life there are responsibilities. I truly believe that had I not had a child at an early age, I would still be a wild absentminded party girl and who knows what else may have happened.
Children in middle childhood are growing psychosocially at a quick rate. During middle childhood they become industrious, develop a self-concept, and learn how to be friends, amongst other things.
When I found out I was pregnant I could never have imagined how hard my life was going to be as a teen mom. I remember my dad sitting me down and telling me he respected my decision to keep my daughter, but that I had no idea how hard I just made my life, I don’t think that in that moment I really realized what he meant, but I would soon find out. I was just starting my 11th grade year when my daughter was born so I still had two years of school left. I also had to work so I could take care of my daughter, so trying to do both seemed impossible, at one point my school wanted me to go to school during the day and at night so I could graduate. There was no way I could work and go to school during the day and at night. I had to think long and hard about what I needed to do, my daughter and I needed to be able to survive so I definitely needed my job, so I did
Middle childhood is the time where children start to fully develop their skills. They develop their comprehension skills, communication skills, and many more. In order to get a better look into the life of children during this stage, I decided to observe my niece’s friend, Ryan, who is almost at the end of her middle childhood stage. Ryan is an eleven year old girl who attends Bassett Elementary. I choose to observe Ryan because, she is a very unique girl who does not always fit into what the average girl her age is like.

Looking back as a child we often laugh at all the silly things we did as a child. Middle childhood is a developing stage for childhood and helps shape the person we are today. In the film “The Sandlot” a young boy and his friends demonstrate the characteristic of middle childhood in their social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
There were many days that passed when I felt as though I wasn’t going to make it and I felt as though I didn’t deserve to be alive, but who is really ready to take care of a child anyhow? I wasn’t. Then one day I woke up and realized that my life would go on, and that I just had to do the best I could and learn from my mistakes.
I had to mature quickly and learn how to take care of someone else besides myself. I am now a mother to four children. They have taught me how to have patience. This has become something I value very much. I have learned that in life you must wait for things. I now know that there was a reason why I had my son so early and wasn’t able to go to college upon graduating high school. I am so thankful that I had patience and waited for the right time to enter. It has been 14 years since I graduated high school, and I’m attending college and know exactly what I want to become. I had patience and took care of my babies at home before I decided to go to school. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m so glad I
Battling a miscarriage a couple years prior, my mother was feeling mixed emotions. Around this time, I was a senior in high school so the news was neutral for me being that I was the only child for eighteen years. I did not know if I should rejoice or complain because I was leaving for college soon. My brother was born about two weeks before my high school graduation, and I must say that it was a very intense and complicated birth being that my mother was nearly forty giving birth to her second child.
My physical development was not so difficult for me. I experienced the growth spurt when I was10 to 15-years old. I didn’t think it was difficult time for me because my range of growth spurt was not so large. Additionally, I did not belong to sports club, so I did not feel uncomfortable when I move my body. I think I am a late bloomer because I have never had boyfriend. But I think it is advantage for me because I am not a “boy-crazy”. I know some friends who are early bloomer and being “boy-crazy”, I do not want to be like them. I have my own interest and I have something what I want to do besides dating with boys. My physical developments have some effects on my character of today. I think it is because I was taller than others since very young, my friends often said to me “you are like my elder sister.” This phrase makes me think that I need to be like elder sister when I was child. It is related to more about psychological development, but this way of thinking came from my height. One of other physical development related issue that makes me struggle is my period. Every time I am in period, I have pain in stomach and back; I feel sleepy, hungry, and irritating; and I have skin problems. I think there are more people who have more heavy symptoms of period, however, sometimes I cannot endure these. My physical developments have some effects on me, but it was not so difficult for me to pass through.
But through it all, I am glad i developed through life the way I am, getting my first real job really help me but my best foot forward into the working world of being in adult. I learned a lot of new things, especially the darker and brighter parts of it all. It really helped push me to do other things that I was afraid to do, like getting my license and my car. I thank my father and my mother for being an influence even if it was negative a lot more than I would have liked. All of these events changed me and made me the man i am today, and I would never go back and change any of
