Microcontrollers
Microcontroller can be considered as a small size of computer on a chip. Because it consists of processor, random access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM) and input/output peripherals. Microcontroller is also named as embedded controllers, since it is part of an embedded system. According to Blacharski (2003) microcontroller defines as “an integrated chip that is often part of an embedded system”. The purpose of develop microcontroller is to evolve the performance and efficiency a machine. Microcontroller can execute itself without the any support from external. Now a day, we can see that there are appliances in everywhere which is developed by microcontroller. For instance, aircraft, vehicle engines, microwaves, fuel injection system, robots, and so on.
For the application of microcontroller, I would like to use vehicle engine as my choice. In recent year, the requirements of customer for a vehicle are making the designer headache no matter on safety, performance, entertainment, or new facilities of a car. Based on the customer required, the new technology of microcontroller has been recommended. For the safety of vehicle, microcontroller is appropriate to provide a new car safety system name fault-tolerant system instead of antilock braking system. According to Bannatyne (2009) not only the electrical fault can be recognized by the fault-tolerant system, but the existing known fault must be worked safely. In the fault-tolerant system, which classifies CPU as two categories, there are main CPU and redundant CPU. The main CPU in charge of testing the whole fault-tolerant system and the redundant CPU is using to verify the stability of the first CPU once the first CPU is getting unstable.

Power consumption is an important issue in modern FPGA’s. Greater performance and complexity has led to higher power dissipation per chip, while the use of deep sub-micron processes has resulted in higher static power in the forms of sub-threshold leakage and gate leakage. Heating solutions for devices with high power dissipation is expensive. If FPGA’s are to be used in portable devices, power consumption needs to be reduced. -powered applications, high power consumption may prohibit the use of FPGA altogether. Consequently, solutions for reducing FPGA power are needed. In this work, I propose a programmable dual-VDD architecture in which the supply voltage of the logic blocks and routing blocks are programmed to reduce power consumption by assigning low-VDD to non-critical paths in the design, while assigning high-VDD to the timing critical paths in the design to meet timing constraints. Evaluation of the effectiveness of different VDD assignment algorithms and architectural implementations show that reducing the supply voltage selectively to the non-critical paths provides significant power savings with minimal impact on performance
