Homeostasis to Betty Am I a macro part of an organization or organizations, mezzo part of a group of friends, co-workers or family, or micro an individual or part of a family? Homeostasis and how it works in each. I am an individual and according to our text a “Micro system refers to an individual (Micro, Mezzo, and Macro Systems, 2013).” As an individual I am different than anyone else even though I may share similar family, friends, education, employment and interest no one else is exactly the same. As part of a family system micro and mezzo systems the line gets a little blurred. This larger family system where I am a child, daughter, sister aunt, sister-in-law, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. This is where I met my husband who started out as part of an extended subsystem group of friends that we knew who enjoyed music and dancing. We taught each other to dance, shared recipes, took care of each other’s children when the need arose and helped each other out when the need arose at work to restore homeostasis. I belong to the Northeast Texas Council of Activity Coordinators organization and is considered to be a macro system. We pay dues and get together once a month for continuing education and networking if someone has lost a job someone else may know of an opening helping to restore the homeostasis. The community I live in is called Ravanna it is a macro system in which we help each other. In the reason bad weather when trees fell on the road men from the community got their saws and cleaned the trees from the roads and other neighbor’s yards, helped cover roofs until repairs could be done. In the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman there are many different characters, and even some of them cross paths. A community garden was started just by one person therefore everyone follows. They all learn how to get along with other people, how to not stereotype so much, and how to depend on each other in their community. Microsystem. There are several immediate factors acting on the individual. This nearest level of the system is known as the microsystem that directly interacts with the individual. This system might include forces such as family, peers, school, or religion. (Video 1)
The ecological model will be explained on the different levels, it is a set of ideas which include the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, and the macro-system. The microsystem is the individual’s surroundings composed of the individual’s domain including home and school, so the individual interactions are relevant as he interacts with environment around during this particular life stage. The mesosystem is the environmental setting the evolving individual inhabits with other roles in the bigger community like school or work. Historically, the exosystem is an addition of the mesosystem including the media, broadcasting, transportation, and the diverse government agencies. There are many differences between macro and micro-level theories. Micro-level focuses on individuals and their interactions. For example the relationship between adult children and their parents, or the effect of negative attitudes on older people. Some criticize on micro-level theories becuase they focus on what older people do rather than on social conditionsand policies that cuase them to act the way they do. Macro-level focuses more upon social structure, social processes and problems, and their interrelationships. For example the effects of industrialization on older people's status, or how gender and income affect older people's well being. This approach tends to minimize people's ability to act and overcome the limits of social structures. Both micro and macro-leve theories can take one of three perspectives which include: interpretive perspective, normative, and conflict.
Ecological theory is a theory developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner that states that the “systems” around you are vitally important in human development. Within the theory there are many systems including the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem. To further more for a better understanding, I will explain the Bronfenbrenner 's Ecological systems model and how each level help in forming our human development. The ecological system model is a five different level model that contains people, places, and things that is believed to help a person 's develop in life. The first level is known as microsystem. The microsystem is the system that contains the closest and direct contact to a person, such as family, friends, school/work, and church. For example, my microsystem would consist of my home and work. At home, I tend to interact more with my parents and siblings.
