Michael and his friends of many personalities, the Electroclan, go on exciting adventures throughout the book and many of these adventures have shocking results. “Michael Vey Rise of the Elgen,” by Richard Paul Evens, is a great reading choice for young adults, in fact it is great for all ages. Michael’s adventures are fascinating and keep you on the edge of your seat in wondering of what is going to happen next. The hard times and struggles throughout the book cause a more personal tone to the story because we can relate in many ways what the Electroclan is going through together.
No matter the struggles never give up; this is one of many themes found in the story. “I made my choices, “Jack said. “I’ll stand by them.” He turned to me. “It’s

They are dressed in clothing that embarrasses and humiliates them. How strong can you be dressed as a little girl? (Evens 172)” Muscular body guards are wearing pink to make them not feel so strong. Using a simile, dressed as little girls becomes so real and helps to understand the how the guards feel. It helps relate personal experiences to the book.
“From the bowels of the corridor came a loud, echoing groan like the sound of a heavy metal gate. Suddenly a high-pitched screeching echoed down the hall, shrill as a fork on a chalkboard. (Evens 265)” Imagery involves the five senses; touch, taste, sound, sight, and smell. Reading the words fork on a chalkboard just makes horrific sound come to life in the ears of the reader.
Through thick and thin Michael never gives up, he is a true friend and will do anything for them, and they will do the same for him. The small Idahoan group fights against the biggest corporation in the world but they do not fail because of the powerful things holding them together. Many messages can be taken from this, but the strength of friends and the power to persevere stand out the most. The devices used throughout this book emphasize the importance of not only the strong friendship of the Electroclan, but make the story come to life right before your eyes, grasping your imagination and bringing a well written book to
In many parts of the poem, Guest uses metaphors to show the strength that one should always keep while facing their troubles. He tells his readers to "Lift your chin and square your shoulders, plant your feet and take a brace" to prepare for whatever could be ahead (lines 2-3). Even through the metaphor "Black may be the clouds above you" which gives a clear perception of difficult and hopeless moments that might be surrounding an individual, it is still better than running since it "will not save you" (lines 8-11). It is throughout the poem that Guest has used many metaphors to remind his readers about the facing the problems that will lie ahead. It is even pointed at points, such as, "You may fail, but fall fighting" to remind the reader that not all problems can be confronted. However, the author suggests that with a person's body language, like standing tall, could become a resolve. With these metaphorical commands, it gives the reader the feeling of a solider or fighter that is preparing to face an enemy. This is also further emphasized from his use of repetition. Guest repeats the figurative phrase, "See it through" to show the reader to overcome the toughest or most hopeless of problems. It is also from this statement that he suggests to go keep going no matter what since in the end it is possible that one can succeed. Becoming the clearest and most encouraging phrase and title of the poem, Guest has made the distinction of his theme to overcome everything that one can in order to achieve the best for one's

The book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, follows a horrific part of the life of a boy named Ponyboy Curtis. He is what you might call a Greaser, and has had a rough go at it in his life compared to others. It is difficult, but Ponyboy somehow manages to be himself and has the tenacity to stick through it all. He is in a gang with his friends and family and they are loyal to one another no matter what. A rival gang from the Socs crowd, a richer, more refined group, send him and his pals into a whirlwind of trouble and hurt. This book shows on multiple occasions that perseverance is necessary to get through life .
Imagery is made up of the five senses, which are sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. The first sense of sight is seen throughout the whole poem, specifically in the first two lines, “I had the idea of sitting still/while others rushed by.” This sight she envisions is so calm and still and the perfect example of appreciating the little things that life has to offer. Through the use of these terse statements, she allows it to have more meaning than some novels do as a whole.
Even though there is tragedy there-what Steinbeck seems to be saying is that the human spirit can and will endure despite immense privations. The will to live and endure will always overcome defeated hopes.
The type of narration, the plot’s rising action, and the overall imprint that is left on the reader, pushes this book above and beyond. Whaley creates a picture for the reader by using third- person omniscient point of view. This method helps the reader better understand the main characters. The rising action development was extremely easy to follow. The descriptions of the characters and the background information helps explained how the story was laid out. Also, the author seemed like he wanted the reader to realize the purpose of the three-way friendship. It represented how a relationship allows everyone to learn from their flaws and unwarranted decisions from other’s reactions. This book is truly unique, from the composure to the character’s
