Overcoming Obstacles
In 1978, Michael Jordan was cut from high school basketball team, now he is considered the greatest to ever play the game. So how did he go from getting cut to the hall of fame? The idea is almost incomprehensible, but he showed great pride and determination to get him through the tough times. The odds were against him, but he persevered. He was able to overcome any obstacle thrown in his way. Being able to overcome obstacles in one of the hardest things to do, but also one of the most crucial. Overcoming obstacle in life is important because it will help you achieve your goals, it will help you gain respect, and it will provide the opportunity for improvement.
To start with, it is important to be able to overcome obstacles because it will help you achieve your goals in life. No matter what your dreams are, there are always going to be setbacks, those who are able to overcome them find the life they want; because even if it seems like everything is going your way, don’t count on it staying that way. Be prepared for whatever challenge is thrown at you next. Like Sylvester Stallone once said “Life ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. No one hits harder than life, but it ain’t how hard you can hit. It's how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done”.

Next, overcoming obstacles is important because it will help you gain respect.
Take Michael Jordan for example when he got cut from his high school team, most people counted him out, but he didn’t let that stop him. He continued to work and showed up the next year more prepared. By coming back the next year after being cut, he gained the respect of the coaches. The greatest respect often starts with failure, but you have to take that first step in taking the criticism and using it to boost your own
performance. Finally, obstacles are an opportunity for improvement. You’ve heard the saying “Learn from your mistakes”. To start, thats a good plan, but it’s not going to get you anywhere, just learning from them, you have to use the mistake as an opportunity. You have to figure out what you did wrong and work extra hard to overcome it. Then you will have to restart the process, because there will always be more challenges to come. In conclusion, overcoming obstacles in life is hard to do but also very important. It will give you the chance to achieve your goals, help you gain respect, and provide you with the opportunity for improvement. Life is going to throw challenges at you, get back up and keep moving.
Adversities are often given a negative connotation and view, as most consider them to be hurdles which impede progress. Nevertheless when taken in and accepted under a positive light, adversities can serve as stepping stones through which an individual can better their character. In the face of looming obstacles individuals who persevere come out of the situation as stronger, determined, and more hopeful for the future.
... front of me since the road to success is far away. Facing unknown obstacles is like drowning in water because obstacles are weighted heavily and sometimes I can't lift it. I just have to use my strength and hopefully, I can raise it off me. I learned that sometimes it is better to have a little false hope than to have none. Perseverance doesn’t not come naturally to all people but eventually it will come because they will find it. It helps them find their inner self by going through obstacles so that they can be more of a life challenge. I believe that this can change a person who they are because it is something everyone needs to go through life.
If Michael Jordan wasn’t as good as people say, look at his statistics and the numbers will prove that he is the best basketball player in the history of the sport making him an outlier. If he was just an average kid from North Carolina without athletic skills, he wouldn’t have gotten as much attention as he received. He would’ve been “Michael Jordan from down the street”, not “Michael Jordan: Hall of Famer.”
He wasn’t just the best at basketball, but also very good at baseball. Michael had ended up returning back to the game of basketball because it didn’t feel right playing baseball. Obviously that was the right choice to do, because he had went on to do bigger and better things like make it into the Hall of Fame. Now who wouldn’t want to do that? Anyways, Michael was listed as one of the greatest players in all time NBA history, and I think by everything I’ve told you in this essay is some pretty good proof of why he is known as a so called legend. If you had watched one of his games in his prime time, you would know why he is now known as the G.O.A.T. Even though he had a hard life with his dad dying and other worries, he has done some great things. It doesn’t matter what happened in your life, because you can still accomplish many things, but it is up to you to choose how hard you will work. So, what will you

However, LeBron James is considered one of the top basketball players in the NBA now. There inspiring leadership and unbelievable talent on the court makes it hard for us to choose a winner. To Michael playing basketball in the NBA “seemed something of a distant dream'; (Halberstam 20), but even after he was cut from the varsity team Michael still practiced every day. Michael’s practice paid off in his junior and senior years when he was the best player on the varsity team. After high school Michael was off to the University of North Carolina where for three years he would have some amazing accomplishments in basketball.
The obstacles which we must face are not there to hinder our daily life. They are there to provide countless opportunities to obtain greater success. In order to be successful we must look at every obstacle as a new opportunity.

December 21, 1891- The birth of basketball. It has been changed from simply shooting a soccer ball into a peach basket to dunking a seven pound, leather ball into an iron rim. Michael Jordan, portrayed by Jim Naughton in the biography Taking To The Air: The Rise of Michael Jordan, is well regarded as not only the greatest basketball player of all time but also the face of a generation. During the mid to late 1980s NBA basketball was simply treading water. As a result of the lack of a marketable superstar, the NBA was losing popularity to the National Football League and Major League Baseball.
