Mia Wallace, the wife of Marcellus Wallace, may not be an antagonist. Yet, I felt that she is a perfect example of the Freudian ID in writing. In the show she has a tendency to do only what she wants to do and only in that moment. She is constantly being decisive, and instantaneous in her choices. Pulp Fiction is a show that is debated on its true meaning, though one of the most debated and accepted theories is that it is the journey of Marcellus Wallace’s soul. It is thought that he has sold his soul to the devil and has sent his men to retrieve it. As the movie jumps across the timeline with his wife, Mia, who becomes a main character. She is instinctual and anxious. Her emotions take over constantly and create bad situations. ID is defined …show more content…
As one of the gangsters takes Mia out for Marcellus, she will only go to one place for dinner and will not go anywhere else. Then proceeds to order expensive food and an expensive milkshake because she wanted to. In the restaurant she forced the gangster to dance with her to win a contest that was set up the moment before. Finally, when she gets home, she starts to drink alcohol when she finds a powdered substance in the gangsters jacket and without asking, decides to snort it thinking it was cocaine, all of this just to get the maximum feeling out of the moment. Unconvincingly, rumors are thrown around of possible cheating and even a foot rub that she received from a gangsters. And then her husband, Marcellus, threw the man out of a window many stories up from the ground. If the stories are true, then she knew he would inevitably die from this action. If they are fake then she may be in the clear for at least this action of the ID. Continually throughout the movie Mia only looks to help herself, she only cares for her and her husband and will only satisfy herself regardless. Best we leave out that the “cocaine” was actually heroine. And snorting heroin creates an immediate overdose. She does come through and makes it home safely and although it is not completely known. There is an assumption that Marcellus does get his soul back. Mia wants him to have his soul back for her pleasure, she also wants to do anything
In the novel Maise Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear, the main character, Maisie Dobbs, at the age of 13 becomes a domestic servant that works for Lord Julian and Lady Rowan where she blackened the fireplace, swept the floor, polished the furniture and ran errands for Lady Rowan. With Maisie only having one job she was able to move in with Lady Rowan and Lord Julian, other known as the Compton’s. In Maisie’s free time she took it upon herself to read some of the books that she had gotten from the library to further her knowledge. I have done my research and none of the domestic servants have said that they have once had free time to do other thing. In the novel Maisie Dobbs it fails to tell the true reality of domestic servants instead it shows

When asked to write about an important activist who has demonstrated protest, I immediately drifted towards a Hispanic and/or feminist activist. Various names came across my mind initially such as Cesar Chavez and Joan Baez but as a later discussion in class concluded, there are numerous others who are rarely highlighted for their activism and struggles, which lead to me researching more. In my research I came across Dolores Huerta, an American labor leader and civil rights activist, who I felt was an underdog and brushed over activist in the Hispanic community.

If you aren’t familiar with Pulp Fiction, it isn’t your typical movie. It consists of three separate story lines that are seeminglessly integrated and twisted together. Each story has their own little plot, but as an overall movie these plots don’t combine to make a coherent narrative. We as the watchers need to piece together a coherent narrative of the movie as Pat Dowell states in his article Two shots at Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. With that being said, it may seem hard to believe that the theme of redemption stays consistent throughout the whole movie.
Destiny McMahon Theatre Pickett, A 10 October 2017 Sarah Bernhardt Sarah Bernhardt was a French actress during the late 1800’s. She was an international star at her time, and made way for many modern-day actresses. She was revolutionary and progressive, hidden behind a well-controlled façade that deceived her critics. Much like her upbringing and lineage, she was controversial and unconventional. Bernhardt proved to be one of the most influential actresses of her time.
Writer Amanda Mote argues in her essay “Taking the ACT” that the ACT is not fulfilling its purpose as a knowledge standards test. She claims that the ACT is a taxing test that does not test students sufficiently over the knowledge they have built over their high school career. However, this evaluation of the ACT is inaccurate because it does not correctly assess the true purpose and approach of the ACT test. The ACT was created to assess a student’s “college readiness”. This test is not meant to determine the knowledgeability of a student. It is meant to test their ability to comprehend and solve a problem efficiently. The ACT is a taxing test for students, but it’s still manageable; several students even decide to retake the test multiple
In the final analysis, it was extremely shocking to discover that the death of Victim #6, Miley Cyrus, was due to rat poison coursing through their blood alongside with diet coke. Although it is clear to see that the consumption of rat poison would lead to death, nobody would be foolish enough to consume it. This all leads to the idea that Miley Cyrus was the murdered victim whose death was by a person who put rat poison in her diet coke without her noticing. The only person that could be responsible for the death of Miley Cyrus is Victim #10, Selena Gomez. There were two major reasons that led to this speculation of Selena Gomez being the murderer, and that was because Selena Gomez is the only person that had rat poison in her pockets. The

A strange film, a strange film indeed. It's quite amazing that director Julie Taymor was even able to get this thing distributed by a major movie studio, despite how flawed an experience it is. In fact, about half of the film just flat out does not work, however the half that does work is simply magical. The threadbare story, which is really just a vehicle for masterfully-staged musical segments, follows Jude, a young dock worker from Liverpool who journeys to America in search of a father he never knew. While there he befriends college dropout Max, and subsequently falls in love with his younger sister, Lucy. Their rocky relationship, intermixed with a lot of Vietnam talk and psychedlic visuals, comprises most of the film. Had Taymor left it at that, the film would have been an endearing and fun ride. Unfortunately she feels the need to clutter the screenplay with subplots concerning every other character in the film, including a fame-seeking female rock singer, a
In the last few weeks, with several tragedies occurring in the world, ethnocentrism is very present and even when talking about social, political and economic issues as well as, art. The term art in the past, has been given the definition of being primarily based on aesthetic beauty, and not focused on the emotional construct that art also possesses. Similarly, gender roles encourage women to conform to their norms the same way society thinks art should just be an aspect of beauty. The emergence on performance art in the late sixties, was a way of challenging painting to add an emphasis on the feeling art gives through performance. Marina Abramovic, performance artist, uses her performances as a tool
